In Sanatana Dharma, “Bhoomata” (Mother Earth) is not merely the planet on which we live; she is the Divine Mother who nourishes all living beings, the embodiment of patience, and the infinite form of compassion. Dharani Devi silently bears the sins, sufferings, and arrogance of humanity while lovingly holding all creatures in her nurturing lap. Every day, humans walk upon her, receive food from her, and breathe the air sustained by her, yet they rarely realize the true divinity of Mother Earth. The Vedas describe Earth among the Pancha Bhutas (five elements) as the very foundation of stability, endurance, and life itself.

Meditating upon the Virat Swaroop (cosmic form) of Dharani Mata is not an ordinary spiritual practice; it is a profound yogic sadhana that elevates human consciousness from individual limitations to universal awareness. When a seeker meditates upon the great Earth Mother radiating amidst infinite galaxies, lovingly embracing all forms of life within her cosmic presence, the narrow sense of “I” gradually dissolves. The seeker begins to experience oneself not merely as an individual, but as a living part of the vast universal consciousness.

One of the greatest spiritual teachings of Mother Earth is “forbearance.” Even when humanity harms nature, commits sins, and creates destruction through wars and greed, Mother Earth silently endures everything and continues to restore life again and again. Those who meditate upon this divine quality naturally develop forgiveness, balance, compassion, humility, and a spirit of service. Spiritual growth requires inner stability, and the worship of Bhoomata grants this grounding strength. That is why many sages and yogis described Dharani as the very foundation of spiritual steadiness.

Yogic sciences also state that meditation upon the universal form of Dharani Mata gradually awakens Kundalini consciousness. The Earth element is connected to the Muladhara Chakra, the root energy center. Without stability in the Muladhara, higher spiritual realizations cannot remain steady. By meditating upon Mother Earth as the Cosmic Mother, fear within the seeker slowly dissolves and a deep inner sense of security arises. This inner security becomes the gateway to profound meditative absorption and higher states of samadhi.

The great Sanatana ideal of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — “The whole world is one family” — is deeply embedded within the worship of Dharani Mata. When one realizes that every living being on Earth is the child of the same Divine Mother, hatred begins to fade and divisions disappear. Love, reverence, and compassion toward all beings naturally arise. This is true spiritual transformation. A seeker who meditates upon the cosmic form of Mother Earth gradually begins to experience the divine consciousness that pervades the entire universe.

Dharani Mata is not merely the giver of physical sustenance; she is also the guide toward spiritual awakening. Those who meditate with devotion upon her vast cosmic form experience immense inner peace, stability, universal love, and divine awareness blossoming within themselves. Living with gratitude toward Mother Earth, protecting nature, and loving all forms of life — these are the truest forms of worship offered to her.

సనాతన ధర్మంలో “భూమాత” కేవలం మనం నివసించే గ్రహం మాత్రమే కాదు; ఆమె సర్వజీవరాశులను పోషించే జగజ్జనని, సహనానికి ప్రతిరూపం, అనంత కరుణాస్వరూపిణి. సమస్త జీవులను తన ఒడిలో ధరించి, వారి పాపాలు, బాధలు, అహంకారాలను నిశ్శబ్దంగా భరిస్తూ నిలిచే మహా తల్లి ధరణి దేవి. మనిషి ప్రతిరోజూ ఆమెపై నడుస్తాడు, ఆమె నుంచే అన్నం పొందుతాడు, ఆమె వాయువునే శ్వాసిస్తాడు; అయినప్పటికీ భూమాత యొక్క దివ్యత్వాన్ని పూర్తిగా గ్రహించలేడు. వేదాలు “భూమిరాపోఽనలో వాయుః ఖం…” అని ఈ పంచభూతాలలో భూమిని స్థిరత్వానికి, సహనానికి, జీవనాధారానికి మూలంగా పేర్కొన్నాయి.

ధరణి మాత యొక్క విరాట్స్వరూపాన్ని ధ్యానించడం సాధారణ ఉపాసన కాదు; అది మన చైతన్యాన్ని వ్యక్తిగత పరిమితుల నుండి విశ్వచైతన్యానికి తీసుకెళ్లే ఒక గొప్ప యోగసాధన. అనంతమైన బ్రహ్మాండంలో గెలాక్సీల మధ్య ప్రకాశిస్తూ, సమస్త జీవజాలాన్ని తన మమతామయ ఒడిలో ధరించిన మహాభూమాతను ధ్యానించినప్పుడు సాధకుని హృదయంలో “నేను” అనే సంకుచిత భావం క్రమంగా కరిగిపోతుంది. అతను తనను కేవలం ఒక వ్యక్తిగా కాకుండా విశ్వంలోని చైతన్య భాగంగా అనుభూతి చెందడం ప్రారంభిస్తాడు.

భూమాత ధ్యానంలో అత్యంత గొప్ప తత్త్వం “సహనం”. మనుషులు ప్రకృతిని దెబ్బతీసినా, పాపాలు చేసినా, యుద్ధాలు సృష్టించినా, భూమాత మౌనంగా అన్నింటినీ భరిస్తూ మళ్లీ జీవాన్ని పునరుద్ధరిస్తుంది. ఈ గుణాన్ని ధ్యానించినవారిలో క్షమ, సమత్వం, దయ, సేవాభావం సహజంగా వికసిస్తాయి. ఆధ్యాత్మిక మార్గంలో వేగంగా ఎదగాలంటే మనస్సు స్థిరంగా ఉండాలి; భూమాత ఉపాసన ఆ స్థిరత్వాన్ని ప్రసాదిస్తుంది. అందుకే అనేక ఋషులు, యోగులు ధరణిని “ఆధ్యాత్మిక స్థైర్యానికి ఆధారం”గా వర్ణించారు.

ధరణి మాత యొక్క విశ్వరూప ధ్యానం కుండలినీ చైతన్యాన్ని కూడా మెల్లగా మేల్కొలుపుతుందని యోగశాస్త్రం పేర్కొంటుంది. భూమి తత్త్వం మూలాధార చక్రానికి సంబంధించినది. మూలాధారం స్థిరపడకపోతే ఉన్నత ఆధ్యాత్మిక అనుభూతులు స్థిరంగా నిలవవు. భూమాతను విశ్వమాతగా ధ్యానించడం ద్వారా సాధకునిలో భయం తగ్గి, అంతరంగంలో భద్రతాభావం పెరుగుతుంది. ఆ భద్రతే ధ్యానంలో లోతైన సమాధి స్థితులకు ద్వారం అవుతుంది.

“వసుధైవ కుటుంబకం” అనే మహోన్నత భావన కూడా ధరణి మాత ఉపాసనలోనే అంతర్లీనంగా ఉంది. ఈ భూమిపై ఉన్న ప్రతి జీవి ఒకే తల్లికి సంతానం అని భావించినప్పుడు ద్వేషం తగ్గిపోతుంది. భేదభావం కరిగిపోతుంది. సమస్త ప్రాణుల పట్ల ప్రేమ, గౌరవం, కరుణ ఉద్భవిస్తాయి. ఇదే నిజమైన ఆధ్యాత్మిక పరివర్తన. భూమాత విరాట్స్వరూపాన్ని ధ్యానించే సాధకుడు క్రమంగా విశ్వమంతటా వ్యాపించిన దివ్యచైతన్యాన్ని అనుభవించడం ప్రారంభిస్తాడు.

ధరణి మాత మనకు కేవలం జీవనాధారం మాత్రమే కాదు; ఆమె ఆధ్యాత్మిక మేల్కొలుపుకు మార్గదర్శిని. ఆమె మహావిశ్వరూపాన్ని భక్తితో ధ్యానించే వారికి అంతరంగంలో అపారమైన శాంతి, స్థిరత్వం, విశ్వప్రేమ, దివ్యచైతన్య అనుభూతులు ప్రస్ఫుటమవుతాయి. భూమాతపై కృతజ్ఞతతో జీవించడం, ప్రకృతిని రక్షించడం, సమస్త జీవజాలాన్ని ప్రేమించడం – ఇవే ఆమెకు చేసే నిజమైన ఆరాధన.

“Dattatreya Mahatmanam Varadam Bhaktavatsalam ।
Prasannarti Haram Vande Smartrugami Sanovatu ॥”

This sacred verse beautifully describes the boundless compassion of Lord Dattatreya, His immense affection for devotees, and His divine nature of protecting those who remember Him sincerely. In the Dattatreya tradition, this shloka holds great spiritual significance. Devotees chant it daily to attain peace, wisdom, and divine protection in life.

The phrase “Dattatreya Mahatmanam” reflects the universal greatness of Lord Dattatreya. The word Mahatma refers to a supreme enlightened soul who has fully realized the Absolute Truth. Lord Dattatreya is regarded as the combined incarnation of the Trimurtis—Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. Within Him exist the powers of creation, preservation, and dissolution in perfect harmony. Therefore, He is worshipped not merely as a deity, but as the Jagadguru (Universal Guru), Yogeshwara, and Avadhuta.

The word “Varadam” signifies His nature as the bestower of boons. Scriptures say that Lord Dattatreya grants the wishes of those who pray with sincere devotion. However, the blessings He grants are not limited to material wealth or worldly comforts. He also blesses devotees with wisdom, detachment, inner peace, Guru’s grace, and guidance toward liberation. That is why Lord Dattatreya is also revered as the giver of divine knowledge.

The term “Bhaktavatsalam” highlights His immeasurable love for devotees. Just as a mother lovingly protects her child, Lord Dattatreya safeguards His devotees with even greater compassion. When a devotee surrenders wholeheartedly, the Lord appears in life as a Guru, protector, and guide, leading them on the righteous path.

“Prasannarti Haram” means “the remover of sorrow with a serene and compassionate smile.” Whenever life is filled with pain, fear, despair, ignorance, planetary afflictions, or mental distress, remembrance of Lord Dattatreya gives immense courage and inner strength. His grace brings peace to the heart. The lives of many devotees are filled with miraculous stories of protection and divine intervention, which stand as testimony to His role as the remover of suffering.

One of the most profound words in this verse is “Smartrugami,” meaning “the One who comes immediately when remembered.” According to the Dattatreya tradition, no matter where a devotee is or what situation they are in, sincere remembrance of the Lord instantly invokes His divine help. This does not always mean a physical appearance; His grace may manifest through thoughts, guidance from Gurus, divine signs, or inner inspiration.

Lord Dattatreya is considered the originator of the Avadhuta tradition. The Bhagavata Purana explains that He learned life’s greatest truths from twenty-four Gurus found in nature itself. From the Earth He learned patience, from the Air detachment, from Water purity, and from Fire brilliance and illumination. Thus, the philosophy of Dattatreya is not merely devotion—it is also a profound science of life and self-realization.

Guru devotion occupies a central place in Dattatreya worship because Lord Dattatreya is revered as the “Adi Guru,” the primordial spiritual teacher. Devotees believe that true wisdom, inner purification, and self-realization become possible only through His grace. Therefore, the sacred chant “Gurudeva Datta” is considered highly powerful and spiritually uplifting.

Ultimately, this sacred verse teaches a profound spiritual truth — God is never truly distant. He manifests in the heart of anyone who remembers Him with genuine devotion and faith. Salutations again and again to that compassionate, ever-present, devotee-loving Jagadguru, Lord Dattatreya Swami. 🙏

ఈ పవిత్రమైన శ్లోకం శ్రీ దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామివారి అపార కరుణ, భక్తులపై ఆయనకు ఉన్న వాత్సల్యం, మరియు స్మరణ మాత్రానికే ప్రత్యక్షమై రక్షించే దివ్య స్వరూపాన్ని తెలియజేస్తుంది. దత్తసంప్రదాయంలో ఈ శ్లోకానికి అత్యంత ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉంది. భక్తులు దీనిని నిత్య పారాయణంగా జపిస్తూ, తమ జీవితంలో శాంతి, జ్ఞానం, ఆధ్యాత్మిక రక్షణను పొందుతారు.

“వరదం” అనే పదం దత్తాత్రేయుని అనుగ్రహ స్వభావాన్ని తెలియజేస్తుంది. ఆయనను భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో ప్రార్థించిన వారికి కావలసిన వరాలను ప్రసాదిస్తాడని పురాణాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. కానీ దత్తస్వామి ఇచ్చే వరం కేవలం భౌతిక సుఖసంపద మాత్రమే కాదు. జ్ఞానం, వైరాగ్యం, ఆత్మశాంతి, గురుకృప, మోక్షమార్గ దర్శనం వంటి అత్యున్నత వరాలను కూడా ఆయన అనుగ్రహిస్తాడు. అందుకే దత్తాత్రేయుని “జ్ఞానప్రదాత” అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు.

“భక్తవత్సలం” అనే పదం భక్తుల పట్ల ఆయనకున్న అమితమైన ప్రేమను సూచిస్తుంది. ఒక తల్లి తన బిడ్డను ఎంత ప్రేమగా కాపాడుతుందో, దత్తస్వామి తన భక్తులను అంతకన్నా ఎక్కువగా సంరక్షిస్తాడని దత్తభక్తుల అనుభవాలు చెబుతాయి. భక్తుడు నిజమైన శరణాగతి భావంతో ఆయనను ప్రార్థిస్తే, దత్తస్వామి అతని జీవితంలో గురువుగా, రక్షకుడిగా, మార్గదర్శిగా ప్రత్యక్షమవుతాడు.

“ప్రసన్నార్తిహరం” అంటే సంతోషకరమైన దివ్యముఖంతో భక్తుల ఆర్తిని తొలగించేవాడు అని అర్థం. మన జీవితంలో బాధలు, భయాలు, నిరాశలు, అజ్ఞానం, గ్రహబాధలు, మనోవ్యాకులతలు వచ్చినప్పుడు దత్తస్వామి స్మరణ మనసుకు అపార ధైర్యాన్ని ఇస్తుంది. ఆయన అనుగ్రహంతో అంతరంగంలో ప్రశాంతత కలుగుతుంది. అనేక దత్తభక్తుల జీవితాల్లో అద్భుత రక్షణల కథలు వినిపిస్తుంటాయి. ఇవన్నీ “ఆర్తిహర” స్వరూపానికి నిదర్శనాలు.

ఈ శ్లోకంలోని అత్యంత గొప్ప పదం “స్మర్తుగామి”. అంటే “స్మరించిన వెంటనే వచ్చేవాడు”. దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామి భక్తుడు ఎక్కడ ఉన్నా, ఎలాంటి పరిస్థితిలో ఉన్నా, హృదయపూర్వకంగా ఆయనను స్మరించిన క్షణంలోనే దివ్య సహాయం అందిస్తాడని దత్తసంప్రదాయం విశ్వసిస్తుంది. ఇది కేవలం భౌతిక ప్రత్యక్షం కాదు; ఆలోచన రూపంలో, గురువుల రూపంలో, దివ్య సంకేతాల రూపంలో, లేదా అంతరంగ ప్రేరణ రూపంలో ఆయన కరుణ పనిచేస్తుంది.

దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామివారు అవధూత సంప్రదాయానికి మూలపురుషుడు. ఆయన ప్రకృతిలోని 24 గురువుల నుండి జీవన సత్యాలను నేర్చుకున్నారని భాగవత పురాణంలో వివరించబడింది. భూమి నుండి సహనం, గాలి నుండి అసక్తి, నీటి నుండి పవిత్రత, అగ్ని నుండి ప్రకాశం వంటి గుణాలను ఆయన ఆచరణలో చూపించారు. అందువల్ల దత్తాత్రేయ తత్వం కేవలం భక్తి మాత్రమే కాదు; అది జీవనవిజ్ఞానం కూడా.

దత్తస్వామి ఆరాధనలో గురుభక్తికి అత్యంత ప్రాధాన్యం ఉంది. ఎందుకంటే దత్తాత్రేయుడు “ఆది గురువు”గా భావించబడతాడు. గురువు ద్వారా లభించే జ్ఞానం, అంతరంగ శుద్ధి, ఆత్మసాక్షాత్కారం—వంటివి దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామి అనుగ్రహం వల్లనే సాధ్యం అవుతాయని భక్తులు భావిస్తారు. అందుకే దత్తభక్తులు “గురుదేవ దత్త” అనే నామస్మరణను అత్యంత పవిత్రంగా భావిస్తారు.

ఈ శ్లోకాన్ని ప్రతిరోజూ ఉదయం లేదా సాయంత్రం భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో జపించడం ద్వారా మనస్సుకు ప్రశాంతత, ఇంటికి దైవకృప, జీవితం లో ఆధ్యాత్మిక రక్షణ లభిస్తాయని విశ్వాసం. ముఖ్యంగా గురువారం రోజున, దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామి చిత్రపటము లేదా పాదుకల ముందు దీపారాధన చేసి ఈ శ్లోకాన్ని 11 లేదా 21 సార్లు జపిస్తే విశేష ఫలితం కలుగుతుందని దత్తసంప్రదాయంలో చెబుతారు.

చివరగా, ఈ శ్లోకం మనకు ఒక గొప్ప ఆధ్యాత్మిక సత్యాన్ని తెలియజేస్తుంది — భగవంతుడు దూరంలో ఉండడు; నిజమైన భక్తి, విశ్వాసంతో స్మరించిన హృదయంలోనే ఆయన ప్రత్యక్షమవుతాడు. అలాంటి స్మర్తుగామి, భక్తవత్సలుడు, జగద్గురు శ్రీ దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామివారికి శతకోటి ప్రణామాలు. 🙏

🌹 The Glory of Apara Ekadashi – The Sacred Vow That Destroys Endless Sins 🌹

In the Hindu Sanatana Dharma, Ekadashi tithis hold an extremely sacred and significant place. While every Ekadashi possesses a unique spiritual power, the “Apara Ekadashi” observed during the Krishna Paksha of the Jyeshtha month is considered especially glorious according to the Puranas. The word “Apara” means “limitless,” “infinite,” and “immeasurable.” It is believed that fasting, chanting, meditation, and worship of Lord Vishnu on this day grant immense spiritual merit. The Puranas explain that even the gravest sins committed by a person are reduced and purified through the power of this sacred vratam.

Apara Ekadashi is prominently mentioned in the Brahmanda Purana and Bhavishyottara Purana. According to the scriptures, Sage Vasishta explained the greatness of this vratam to King Mahijit. Those who behaved unrighteously in wars, gave false testimony, insulted their gurus, neglected charity and righteous duties, or ignored sacred spiritual practices — all such people can attain liberation from sins by sincerely observing this Ekadashi with devotion. A disciple who, after receiving knowledge from the Guru, insults or disrespects the Guru accumulates grave sins. Yet, Lord Krishna once explained to Dharmaraja that even such a sinner can become freed from sins and attain the supreme spiritual destination through the sincere observance of the Apara Ekadashi vratam.

There is also a profound spiritual story associated with this Ekadashi. Once, there lived a righteous king named Mahidhwaja. His younger brother Vajradhwaja, consumed by jealousy, murdered him and secretly buried his body in a forest. Due to his unjust death, Mahidhwaja’s soul wandered as a restless spirit, suffering greatly. At that time, Sage Dhaumya, through his divine vision, perceived the suffering of the spirit and dedicated the spiritual merit of the Apara Ekadashi vratam to him. Through the power of this sacred observance, Mahidhwaja was liberated from the ghostly state and attained the divine realms. This story beautifully illustrates the immense power of Apara Ekadashi in removing sins and granting spiritual liberation.

On the day of Apara Ekadashi, devotees observe fasting and worship Lord Vishnu with deep devotion. Reciting the Vishnu Sahasranama, reading the Bhagavad Gita, and chanting “Om Namo Narayanaya” are considered highly auspicious. The Puranas state that those who remain awake throughout the night immersed in the remembrance of Lord Hari receive the merit equivalent to performing many great yajnas. Charity, Annadanam (offering food), service to cows, and Tulasi worship performed on this day are believed to bestow manifold spiritual blessings.

The scriptures glorify the results of observing Apara Ekadashi in extraordinary terms. It is said that devotees who sincerely observe this vratam receive the spiritual merit equal to bathing in the sacred Ganga, undertaking a pilgrimage to Kashi, and bathing in the holy Pushkara Tirtha. Furthermore, those who practice this vratam with devotion, humility, truthfulness, and sincerity are blessed with the grace of Lord Hari, bringing peace, prosperity, and spiritual awakening into their lives.

Apara Ekadashi is not merely a day of fasting; it is a sacred path toward inner purification, removal of sins, and divine contemplation. It serves as a spiritual opportunity to purify one’s thoughts, words, and actions. Sanatana Dharma teaches that those who observe this vratam with selfless devotion and pure faith receive the infinite grace and blessings of Lord Vishnu.

హిందూ సనాతన ధర్మంలో ఏకాదశి తిథులకు అత్యంత విశిష్ట స్థానం ఉంది. ప్రతి ఏకాదశి ఒక ప్రత్యేక ఆధ్యాత్మిక శక్తిని కలిగి ఉండగా, జ్యేష్ఠ మాస కృష్ణ పక్షంలో వచ్చే “అపర ఏకాదశి” అత్యంత మహిమాన్వితమైనదిగా పురాణాలు పేర్కొంటాయి. “అపర” అనే పదానికి “అపారం”, “అనంతం”, “అపరిమితం” అనే అర్థాలు ఉన్నాయి. ఈ రోజు చేసే ఉపవాసం, జపం, ధ్యానం, విష్ణు ఆరాధన వలన అపారమైన పుణ్యం లభిస్తుందని విశ్వాసం. ముఖ్యంగా మనిషి చేసిన మహాపాపాలు సైతం ఈ వ్రత ప్రభావంతో క్షీణిస్తాయని పురాణాలలో వివరించబడింది.

అపర ఏకాదశి గురించి ప్రధానంగా బ్రహ్మాండ పురాణం మరియు భవిష్యోత్తర పురాణం లలో విశేషంగా ప్రస్తావించబడింది. ఈ వ్రత మహిమను మహర్షి వశిష్ఠుడు రాజు మహిజిత్తుకు వివరించినట్లు కథనం చెబుతుంది. యుద్ధాలలో అధర్మంగా ప్రవర్తించినవారు, అబద్ధ సాక్ష్యాలు చెప్పినవారు, గురువులను అవమానించినవారు, దాన ధర్మాలను విస్మరించినవారు, పవిత్ర కర్మలను నిర్లక్ష్యం చేసినవారు – వీరందరూ ఈ ఏకాదశి వ్రతాన్ని భక్తితో ఆచరిస్తే పాప విముక్తి పొందుతారని పురాణాలు వెల్లడించాయి. గురువు నుండి జ్ఞానాన్ని పొందిన తరువాత గురుదూషణను చేసే శిష్యుడు పాపాన్ని మూట కట్టుకుంటాడు. అంతటి పాపియైనా కూడ అపర ఏకాదశి వ్రత పాలన ద్వారా పాపవిముక్తుడై పరమగతిని పొందగలుగుతాడని శ్రీకృష్ణుడు ధర్మరాజుకు ఒక సందర్భంలో వివరించాడు.

ఈ ఏకాదశి వెనుక ఒక ఆధ్యాత్మిక కథ కూడా ఉంది. ఒకసారి మహిధ్వజుడు అనే ధర్మపరుడైన రాజు ఉండేవాడు. అతని తమ్ముడు వజ్రధ్వజుడు అసూయతో అతనిని హత్య చేసి అడవిలో పాతిపెట్టాడు. అన్యాయ మరణం కారణంగా మహిధ్వజుని ఆత్మ ప్రేతరూపంలో తిరుగుతూ తీవ్ర వేదన అనుభవించింది. ఆ సమయంలో ధౌమ్య మహర్షి తన దివ్యదృష్టితో ఆ ఆత్మ బాధను గ్రహించి, అపర ఏకాదశి వ్రత పుణ్యాన్ని ఆ ప్రేతాత్మకు సమర్పించాడు. ఆ వ్రత ప్రభావంతో మహిధ్వజుడు ప్రేతయోని నుండి విముక్తి పొంది దివ్య లోకాలకు చేరుకున్నాడని పురాణ కథనం చెబుతుంది. ఈ కథ ద్వారా అపర ఏకాదశి పాప పరిహార శక్తి ఎంత గొప్పదో అర్థమవుతుంది.

అపర ఏకాదశి రోజున భక్తులు ఉపవాసం పాటిస్తూ శ్రీమహావిష్ణువును ఆరాధిస్తారు. విష్ణు సహస్రనామ పారాయణం, గీతా పఠనం, “ఓం నమో నారాయణాయ” జపం చేయడం ఎంతో శుభప్రదంగా భావిస్తారు. రాత్రంతా జాగరణ చేసి హరి నామ స్మరణలో గడిపితే అనేక యజ్ఞాలు చేసిన ఫలితం లభిస్తుందని పురాణాలు పేర్కొంటాయి. ముఖ్యంగా ఈ రోజు చేసిన దానం, అన్నదానం, గోసేవ, తులసి పూజ అనేక రెట్లు పుణ్యాన్ని ఇస్తాయని విశ్వాసం.

పురాణాలలో అపర ఏకాదశి వ్రత ఫలితాన్ని ఎంతో గొప్పగా వర్ణించారు. ఈ వ్రతాన్ని ఆచరించినవారికి గంగాస్నానం చేసిన ఫలితం, కాశీ యాత్ర చేసిన పుణ్యం, పుష్కర తీర్థ స్నానం చేసిన మహిమ సమానంగా లభిస్తుందని చెప్పబడింది. అంతేకాక భక్తి, వినయం, సత్యనిష్ఠతో ఈ వ్రతాన్ని ఆచరించినవారికి శ్రీహరి కృప లభించి జీవితంలో శాంతి, ఐశ్వర్యం, ఆధ్యాత్మిక చైతన్యం పెరుగుతాయని విశ్వాసం.

అపర ఏకాదశి మనిషికి కేవలం ఉపవాసం మాత్రమే కాదు; అది ఆత్మ పరిశుద్ధికి, పాప పరిహారానికి, దైవ చింతనకు ఒక పవిత్ర మార్గం. మన ఆలోచనలు, మాటలు, కర్మలు పవిత్రంగా మారేందుకు ఈ ఏకాదశి ఒక ఆధ్యాత్మిక అవకాశంగా భావించబడుతుంది. భక్తి మరియు నిష్కామ భావంతో ఈ వ్రతాన్ని ఆచరిస్తే శ్రీమహావిష్ణువు అనంత కృప ప్రసాదిస్తాడని సనాతన ధర్మం తెలియజేస్తోంది.

Death is the most inevitable truth in human life. Yet, more frightening than death itself is the fear of death. Even people who possess great wisdom and understanding about life often become anxious when they think about their final moments. Among the sacred spiritual places believed to remove this fear and grant inner peace, the holy kshetra of Sri Vanchiyam Temple in Tamil Nadu holds a very special place.

According to ancient legends, Yama Dharmaraja, the Lord of Death, once became deeply distressed about his divine responsibility. Although taking away the lives of beings was part of the cosmic order and his sacred duty, he was troubled because everyone feared and hated him. He felt sorrow thinking, “People blame me for every death,” and believed that this duty was causing him to accumulate sin and negativity.

At that time, a divine celestial voice advised Yama Dharmaraja to travel to the sacred kshetra of Sri Vanchiyam and perform intense penance to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Obeying the divine instruction, Yama reached the holy kshetra and undertook severe penance with complete devotion and concentration upon Lord Shiva. Pleased by Yama’s sincerity and unwavering devotion, Lord Shiva appeared before him on the sacred Bharani star day and offered to grant him a boon.

Yama Dharmaraja then expressed his grief before Lord Shiva, saying that people constantly blamed and condemned him for taking away lives. He prayed that this painful duty was burdening him with immense sorrow and sin. Listening compassionately to Yama’s suffering, Lord Shiva granted him a divine boon.

Shiva declared that henceforth, people would no longer say that Yama personally took away someone’s life. Instead, they would say that death occurred due to karma, illness, old age, fate, or accidents. Thus, the blame and negativity associated with death would no longer affect Yama Dharmaraja.

It is also believed that because Yama performed penance and attained a yogic state in this sacred kshetra, devotees who visit and worship here are freed from the fear of death.

Devotees believe that sincere prayers at this temple bless a person with mental peace, spiritual strength, and a calm final phase of life. Many also consider this kshetra to be spiritually powerful enough to aid in attaining liberation from the cycle of rebirth.

Another unique tradition of this temple is that devotees first worship Yama Dharmaraja before proceeding for the darshan of Lord Shiva. This practice is regarded as a symbol of the honor and respect bestowed upon Yama by Lord Shiva Himself.

This ancient temple is located in Sri Vanchiyam village in the Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu. Here, Lord Shiva is worshipped as Sri Vanchinatheswarar, while Goddess Parvati blesses devotees as Sri Mangalanayaki. The Shiva Lingam in this temple is believed to be Swayambhu (self-manifested). This sacred kshetra is also regarded as spiritually equal to Kashi in holiness and divine merit.

Devotees believe that visiting this powerful temple at least once in a lifetime brings spiritual peace, freedom from fear, and divine blessings.

మనిషి జీవితంలో అత్యంత సహజమైన సత్యం మరణం. అయినప్పటికీ, మరణం కంటే ఎక్కువగా మనుషులను కలవరపెట్టేది మరణ భయం. జీవితం గురించి ఎంతో జ్ఞానం కలిగినవారు కూడా తమ అంతిమ సమయాన్ని ఆలోచించినప్పుడు భయానికి లోనవుతుంటారు. ఈ భయాన్ని తొలగించి మనసుకు ప్రశాంతతను ప్రసాదించే పవిత్ర క్షేత్రాలలో తమిళనాడులోని శ్రీవాంఛియం ఒక విశిష్ట స్థానం పొందింది.

పురాణ కథనాల ప్రకారం, యమధర్మరాజు తన బాధ్యత పట్ల ఒక సమయంలో తీవ్ర మనోవేదనకు గురయ్యాడని చెబుతారు. సృష్టి నియమం ప్రకారం జీవుల ప్రాణాలను తీసుకోవడం తన ధర్మమైనప్పటికీ, అందరూ తనను భయపడటం, ద్వేషించడం ఆయనను కలచివేసింది. “నా కారణంగానే అందరూ మరణిస్తున్నారు” అనే భావనతో ఆయన బాధపడుతూ, ఈ కర్మ వల్ల తనకు పాపభారం పెరుగుతోందని విచారించాడని కథనం చెబుతుంది.

అప్పుడు ఒక దివ్య అశరీరవాణి యమధర్మరాజుకు శివుని అనుగ్రహం పొందేందుకు శ్రీవాంఛియం క్షేత్రానికి వెళ్లి తపస్సు చేయమని సూచించింది. ఆ దివ్య ఆజ్ఞను అనుసరించిన యముడు అక్కడ పరమశివుని ధ్యానిస్తూ ఘోర తపస్సు చేశాడు. యముని భక్తి, నిష్ఠలకు సంతోషించిన పరమశివుడు భరణి నక్షత్రం రోజున ప్రత్యక్షమై, కోరుకున్న వరం ప్రసాదించేందుకు సిద్ధమయ్యాడు.

అప్పుడు యమధర్మరాజు తన మనోవేదనను వ్యక్తం చేస్తూ, “ప్రాణాలను తీసే ఈ విధి కారణంగా అందరూ నన్నే నిందిస్తున్నారు. ఈ బాధ్యత వల్ల నాకు పాపభారం కలుగుతోంది” అని ప్రార్థించాడు. యముని ఆవేదనను ఆలకించిన పరమశివుడు అతనికి ఓదార్పు కలిగిస్తూ ఒక మహత్తరమైన వరం ప్రసాదించాడని చెబుతారు. “ఇకపై ఎవ్వరూ యముడు ప్రాణం తీశాడని అనరు. జీవులు తమ కర్మ, వ్యాధి, వృద్ధాప్యం లేదా ప్రమాదాల వల్ల మరణించారని మాత్రమే అంటారు. ఆ నిందలు, పాపాలు నిన్ను తాకవు” అని శివుడు అనుగ్రహించాడు.

అదే విధంగా, యముడు ఈ క్షేత్రంలో తపస్సు చేసి యోగస్థితిలో నిలిచిన కారణంగా, ఇక్కడికి వచ్చి దర్శనం చేసుకునే భక్తులకు మరణ భయం తొలగిపోతుందని విశ్వాసం ఏర్పడింది. ఈ క్షేత్రాన్ని భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో దర్శిస్తే ప్రశాంతమైన జీవితం, శాంతియుతమైన అంతిమ కాలం లభిస్తాయని భక్తులు నమ్ముతారు. కొంతమంది ఈ క్షేత్ర దర్శనం మోక్షప్రదమని కూడా విశ్వసిస్తారు.

ఈ క్షేత్రానికి మరో ప్రత్యేకత ఏమిటంటే, ఇక్కడ భక్తులు ముందుగా యమధర్మరాజును దర్శించి, ఆ తరువాత పరమశివుని దర్శనం చేసుకోవడం ఆనవాయితీగా కొనసాగుతోంది. ఇది యముడికి పరమశివుడు ఇచ్చిన గౌరవానికి చిహ్నంగా భావించబడుతుంది.

భారతీయ సంస్కృతిలో “తల్లి” స్థానం దేవతలకన్నా గొప్పది అని పురాణాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. “మాతృదేవో భవ” అనే వాక్యం కేవలం ఉపదేశం కాదు – అది సనాతన ధర్మపు జీవన సత్యం. తల్లి ప్రేమలో స్వార్థం ఉండదు; ఆమె ఆశీర్వాదంలో దైవత్వం దాగి ఉంటుంది.

పురాణాలలో శ్రీకృష్ణుడి జీవితాన్ని చూస్తే, యశోదమ్మ ప్రేమ ఎంత అపారమో తెలుస్తుంది. జగన్నాథుడైన శ్రీకృష్ణుడు కూడా యశోదమ్మ ఒడిలో చిన్న బాలుడిగా మారిపోయాడు. ఆమె ప్రేమ ముందు దైవమూ సైతం మమతకు బంధీ అయింది.

అలాగే గణపతి దేవుడు తన తల్లిదండ్రులనే ప్రపంచంగా భావించి, వారి చుట్టూ ప్రదక్షిణం చేసి “లోక విజేత” అయ్యాడు. ఈ కథ మనకు తల్లి స్థానం ఎంత ఉన్నతమో తెలియజేస్తుంది.

తల్లి మన జీవితానికి మొదటి గురువు, మొదటి దేవత, మొదటి ఆశ్రయం. ఆమె ఆశీర్వాదమే మన జీవితానికి నిజమైన బలం. ఈ మాతృదినోత్సవం సందర్భంగా ప్రతి తల్లికి కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలియజేయడం మన ధర్మం.

🌸 Mother’s Day – The Glory of Motherhood in Ancient Dharma 🌸

In Indian culture, the position of a mother is considered even greater than that of the gods. The sacred saying “Matru Devo Bhava” means “Mother is Divine.” A mother’s love is pure, selfless, and filled with divine grace.

In Hindu mythology, the love of Mother Yashoda for Lord Krishna beautifully reflects the greatness of motherhood. Though Krishna was the Supreme Lord of the universe, he became a playful little child in the loving embrace of Yashoda. Even divinity surrendered before a mother’s affection.

Similarly, Lord Ganesha proved the greatness of parents by considering them his entire world. Instead of circling the universe, he circled his parents and attained victory, showing that parents – especially the mother – are above all worlds.

A mother is the first teacher, the first protector, and the first form of God in one’s life. Her blessings become the true strength behind every success and happiness.
