*29. అత్త్రైవ నరకః స్వర్గ ఇతి మాతః ప్రచక్షతే|*
*యా యాతనా వై నారక్యస్తా ఇహాప్యుపలక్షితాః॥*
*తాత్పర్యము : తల్లీ! స్వర్గము, నరకము అనునవి ఈ లోకమున కలవని కొందరు తలంతురు. మరికొందరు మాత్రము నరకయాతనలు ఇక్కడే కలవని తెలుపుదురు.*
*వ్యాఖ్య : కొన్నిసార్లు అవిశ్వాసులు నరకానికి సంబంధించిన ఈ గ్రంథాల ప్రకటనలను అంగీకరించరు. అటువంటి అధీకృత వివరణలను వారు విస్మరిస్తారు. కాబట్టి కపిల భగవానుడు ఈ నరక పరిస్థితులు ఈ గ్రహం మీద కూడా కనిపిస్తున్నాయని చెప్పి వాటిని ధృవీకరిస్తున్నాడు. వారు యమరాజు నివసించే గ్రహం మీద మాత్రమే ఉన్నారని కాదు. పాపాత్ముడైన మనిషికి తదుపరి జన్మలో నరకయాతన అనుభవించే అవకాశం ఇవ్వబడుతుంది, ఆపై అతను తన నరక జీవితాన్ని కొనసాగించడానికి మరొక గ్రహంలో జన్మించే అవకాశం ఇవ్వబడుతుంది. ఉదాహరణకు, ఒక మనిషి నరకంలో ఉండి మలమూత్రాలు తినమని శిక్షించాలంటే, మొదట అతను యమరాజ గ్రహంపై అలాంటి అలవాట్లను ఆచరిస్తాడు, ఆపై అతనికి ఒక నిర్దిష్ట రకమైన శరీరం, పంది శరీరాన్ని ఇస్తారు. తద్వారా అతను మలాన్ని తినే జీవితాన్ని ఆనందిస్తాడని అనుకోవచ్చు. ఏ నరక పరిస్థితిలోనైనా, నియంత్రిత ఆత్మ తాను సంతోషంగా ఉన్నట్లు భావిస్తుందని గతంలో చెప్పబడింది. లేకుంటే నరకయాతన అనుభవించడం సాధ్యం కాదు.*

*29. atraiva narakaḥ svarga iti mātaḥ pracakṣate
*yā yātanā vai nārakyas tā ihāpy upalakṣitāḥ*
*MEANING : Lord Kapila continued: My dear mother, it is sometimes said that we experience hell or heaven on this planet, for hellish punishments are sometimes visible on this planet also.*
*PURPORT : Sometimes unbelievers do not accept these statements of scripture regarding hell. They disregard such authorized descriptions. Lord Kapila therefore confirms them by saying that these hellish conditions are also visible on this planet. It is not that they are only on the planet where Yamarāja lives. On the planet of Yamarāja, the sinful man is given the chance to practice living in the hellish conditions which he will have to endure in the next life, and then he is given a chance to take birth on another planet to continue his hellish life. For example, if a man is to be punished to remain in hell and eat stool and urine, then first of all he practices such habits on the planet of Yamarāja, and then he is given a particular type of body, that of a hog, so that he can eat stool and think that he is enjoying life. It is stated previously that in any hellish condition, the conditioned soul thinks he is happy. Otherwise, it would not be possible for him to suffer hellish life.*

*కొన్నిసార్లు మనం ఒక సంఘానికి చెందినవారమై ఉంటాము. దానితో మనల్ని మనం గుర్తించుకుంటాము. మనం అలా దాని గురించి పదే పదే మాట్లాడడం వల్ల మనం ఆ సంఘంలో భాగం అనే ఆలోచనని సైతం అంత తేలిగ్గా వదిలి పెట్టలేము. 'నేను హిందువుని, మహారాష్ట్రీయుడిని, నేను ఇది, నేను అది.' ఇవి మన సామూహిక స్వయాలు. అలాగే మనకు కుటుంబ స్వయాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి. మనకు ఇంటిపేర్లు ఉన్నాయి. ప్రతి వ్యక్తికి ఈ ఇంటిపేరు జతచేయబడుతుంది. ఇది ఒక కుటుంబ వారసత్వం. అలాగే “నేను న్యాయమూర్తిని, ఉపాధ్యాయుడిని, వ్యాపారవేత్తను, ప్రొఫెసర్‌ని” అనే వ్యక్తిగత స్వయాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి.*
*ఇవి కూడా స్వయాలే. కానీ ఇవి మనం సృష్టించుకున్నవి. అవి సత్యం కానివి. సామాజికంగా కూడా మనం ఇలాంటి అసత్య స్వయాలను సృష్టించుకున్నాము. లోపలి సమస్యలు సరిపోవన్నట్లుగా బయట నుంచి వీటన్నింటిని జోడించి అదనపు సమస్యలు సృష్టించుకున్నాము. లోపలికి కూడా ఇలా చాలా పొరలు ఉన్నాయి కానీ నేను ఈ లోపలి పొరలను గురించి తరువాత చెబుతాను. ఇలా అనేకమైన స్వయం యొక్క పొరలు నిజమైన స్వయాన్ని కప్పివేస్తున్నాయి. మేఘాల పొరలు సూర్యుడిని చీకటిగా మార్చినట్లుగా, తప్పుడు స్వీయ పొరలు మన నిజస్వరూపాలను చీకటి, గందరగోళం తద్వారా దుఃఖాన్ని కలిగిస్తాయి.*

*Sometimes we belong to a community and we begin to associate ourselves with that. We talk about it again and again, and we cannot so easily extricate ourselves from the idea that we ourselves are a part of that community. “I am a Hindu, a Maharashtrian, I am this, I am that.” These are the communal selves, but then we have the family selves. We have got family names which are called ‘surnames’, and to each person a surname is attached. It is a family heritage. Then come the personal associations of “I am a judge, a teacher, a businessman, a professor”.*
*These are also selves we have created, but they are false selves. Socially also we have created these false selves. As if the inner problems are not sufficient, we have created additional problems by adding all these from outside. Inwardly there are also many layers, and I shall touch upon these inner layers a little later on. Layers and layers of self are covering the true self. Like layers of clouds can make the sun dark, layers of the false self have made our true selves a mass of darkness, confusion and therefore unhappiness.*
