*జడపదార్థము కన్నను ఇంద్రియములు ఉత్తమములు; ఇంద్రియముల కన్నను మనస్సు ఉత్తమము; మనస్సు కన్నను బుద్ధి కన్నను ఆత్మ అత్యంత ఉత్తమము.*
🌷. భాష్యము :
ఇంద్రియములు కామము యొక్క కర్మలకు వివిధ ద్వారములై యున్నవి. అనగా దేహమునందు నిలిచియుండెడి కామము వివిధములైన ఇంద్రియముల ద్వారా బహిర్గతమగుచుండును. కనుక దేహము కన్నను ఇంద్రియములు శ్రేష్టములై యున్నవి.
కాని కృష్ణభక్తిరసభావనము (ఉత్తమచైతన్యము) కలిగినప్పడు ఇంద్రియములు కామము బహిర్గతమగుటకు ఉపయోగింపబడవు. కృష్ణభక్తిభావన యందు ఆత్మ భగవానునితో ప్రత్యక్షసంబంధమును ఏర్పరచుకొనును గావున ఇచ్చట తెలుపబడిన దేహకర్మాది సర్వవిషయములు అంత్యమున పరమాత్మ యందే ముగియును. దేహకర్మ యనగా ఇంద్రియకర్మ గనుక ఇంద్రియములను నిరోధించుట యనగా దేహకర్మలను ఆపివేయుట యని భావము. కాని మనస్సు క్రియాశీలత కలిగియున్నందున దేహము ఎట్టి కర్మను చేయక నిశ్చలముగా నున్నను ఉన్నతమైనది బుద్ధి మరియు ఆ బుద్ధి కన్నను ఉన్నతమైనదే ఆత్మ.
“పరమ దృష్ట్వా నివర్తతే”. అనగా మనస్సును శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుని దివ్యమైన సేవలో నిలిపినచో అది ఇతర హీనప్రవృత్తులను కలిగియుండు అవకాశముండదు. కఠోపనుషత్తునందు ఆత్మ “మహాన్”(ఘనమైనది) అని వర్ణింపబడినది. అనగా ఇంద్రియార్థములు, ఇంద్రియములు, మనస్సు, బుద్ధి కన్నను ఆత్మ ఘనమైనది. కనుక ఆత్మ యొక్క నిజస్థితిని ప్రత్యక్షముగా అవగతము చేసికొనుటయే సమస్యాపరిష్కారమునకు మార్గమై యున్నది. బుద్ధి చేత మనుజుడు ఆత్మ యొక్క నిజస్థితిని తెలిసికొని, మనస్సును సదా కృష్ణభక్తిరసభావన యందు నిలుపవలెను. అది సమస్యలన్నింటిని సంపూర్ణముగా పరిష్కరింపగలదు.

*42. indriyāṇi parāṇy āhur indriyebhyaḥ paraṁ manaḥ*
*manasas tu parā buddhir yo buddheḥ paratas tu saḥ*
*🌷 Translation :*
*The working senses are superior to dull matter; mind is higher than the senses; intelligence is still higher than the mind; and he [the soul] is even higher than the intelligence.*
🌷 Purport :
The senses are different outlets for the activities of lust. Lust is reserved within the body, but it is given vent through the senses. Therefore, the senses are superior to the body as a whole. These outlets are not in use when there is superior consciousness, or Kṛṣṇa consciousness. In Kṛṣṇa consciousness the soul makes direct connection with the Supreme Personality of Godhead; therefore the hierarchy of bodily functions, as described here, ultimately ends in the Supreme Soul.
Bodily action means the functions of the senses, and stopping the senses means stopping all bodily actions. But since the mind is active, then even though the body may be silent and at rest, the mind will act – as it does during dreaming. But above the mind is the determination of the intelligence, and above the intelligence is the soul proper.
If, therefore, the soul is directly engaged with the Supreme, naturally all other subordinates, namely, the intelligence, mind and senses, will be automatically engaged. In the Kaṭha Upaniṣad there is a similar passage, in which it is said that the objects of sense gratification are superior to the senses, and mind is superior to the sense objects.
If, therefore, the mind is directly engaged in the service of the Lord constantly, then there is no chance that the senses will become engaged in other ways. This mental attitude has already been explained. Paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate. If the mind is engaged in the transcendental service of the Lord, there is no chance of its being engaged in the lower propensities. In the Kaṭha Upaniṣad the soul has been described as mahān, the great. Therefore the soul is above all – namely, the sense objects, the senses, the mind and the intelligence. Therefore, directly understanding the constitutional position of the soul is the solution of the whole problem.

God is very big, very large, very far away, very great, adorable; you offer your prostrations to that Almighty as something lovable. Even the Upanishads sometimes refer to the Supreme Absolute as the most lovable. Vanam means adorable; that Being is the most adorable. That thing which you call God, that thing which pulls your attention in its own direction, that which is the Ultimate Reality of things, that which is the Self of the cosmos, is the most magnificent, beloved, lovable, beautiful, most essential of all beings.*
*And one who loves this Ultimate Being as the most lovable is loved by the whole world. You attract things towards yourself because you are attracted towards that which is everywhere. This is the best way of making friends in this world. *🌻. కూర్మావతార వర్ణనము - 1 🌻*
అగ్ని పలికెను: పాపములను తొలిగించు కూర్మావతారమునుగూర్చి మొదట నేను ప్రతిజ్ఞచేసినవిధమున చెప్పెదను. పూర్వము దేవాసురయుద్దములో దేవతలు దూర్వాసుని శాపముచే దైత్యుల చేతిలో ఓడిపోయిరి. అపుడు వారు (ఐశ్వర్య) లక్ష్మీరహితులై పోయిరి. క్షీరాబ్ధిపై ఉన్న విష్ణువును స్తుతించి ''మమ్ములను అసురులనుండి రక్షింపుము'' అని వేడికొనిరి.
శ్రీ మహావిష్ణువు బహ్మాది దేవతలతో ఇట్లనెను: ''సురలారా! క్షీరాబ్దిని మథించి అమృతమును లక్ష్మిని సంపాదించుటకై అసురులతో సంధి చేసికొనుడు. పని విడినపుడు శత్రువులతో కూడ సంధి చేసి కొనవలెను గదా ! అమృతము మీకే తక్కునట్లును, దానవులకు తక్కకుండు నట్లును చేసెదను. మందర పర్వతమును కవ్వముగ చేసి, వాసుకుని కవ్వపు త్రాడుగా చేసి, నా సాహాయ్యముతో క్షిరాబ్ధిని మధింపుడు. మాంద్యము వలదు.
విష్ణువు ఇట్లు పలుకగా దేవతలు దైత్యలతో ఒప్పందము చేసికొని క్షీరాబ్ధికి వచ్చి మథింప ప్రారంభించిరి. వాసుకి తోక వైపు దేవత లుండిరి. సర్పము విడచు నిట్టూర్పుల వేడికి బాధపడుచున్న దేవతలను హరి సేదదీర్చెను. సముద్రమును మథించు చుండగా ఆ పర్వతముక్రింద ఆధార మేదియు లేకపోవుటచే నీటిలో మునిగిపోయేను.
విష్ణువు కూర్మరూపమును ధరించి మందరపర్వతమును నిలబెట్టెను. మథింపబడుచున్న క్షీరాబ్ధినుండి హాలాహల విషము పుట్టెను. శివుడు ఆ విషమును కంఠమునందు ధరించెను. అందుచే అతడు నీలకంఠు డయ్యెను. పిమ్మట వారుణీదేవియు (సురయు), పారిజాతము కౌస్తుభము, గోవుల , దివ్యలగు అప్సరసలు పుట్టిరి. లక్ష్మీదేవి ఆవిర్భవించి విష్ణువును చేరినది. దేవత లందరును ఆమెను చూచుచు స్తోత్రము చేయుటచే శ్రీమంతులైరి. పిమ్మట ఆయుర్వేదమును తీసికొని వచ్చిన ధన్వంతరి రూపుడైన విష్ణువు అమృతపూర్ణ మగు కమండలువును చేత ధరించి ఆవిర్బవించెను. జంభుడు మొదలగు దైత్యులు ఆతని చేతినుండి అమృతమును గ్రహించి, సగము దేవతల కిచ్చి, వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

*🌻 Chapter 3 - Manifestation of Viṣṇu as a Tortoise -1🌻*
Agni said:
1. I shall describe unto you (now) about the manifestation (of Viṣṇu) as a tortoise, by hearing which one’s sins will be destroyed. In days of yore the celestial gods were defeated by the demons in a battle between them.
2. On account of the curse of sage Durvāsas,[1] the celestials were deprived of all their prosperity. Then they praised Viṣṇu who was (reclining) in the milky ocean and said, “Protect us from the demons”.
3. Hari said to Brahmā and others, “You make a treaty of peace with the demons for churning the ocean for securing ambrosia.
4. In the interest of an important work even the enemies should be sought for union. I will make you get the ambrosia and not the demons.
5. Making the (Mount) Mandara as the churning rod and (the serpent) Vāsuki as the rope, you vigilantly churn the milky ocean with my help”.
6. Concluding an agreement with the demons as suggested by Viṣṇu, (the celestials) came to the milky ocean. The celestials began to churn the ocean (from that side) where the tail of the serpent was.
7. The celestials who were afflicted by the sighs of the serpent, were comforted by Hari (Viṣṇu). As the ocean was being churned the mountain being unsupported entered into the water.
8. Then Viṣṇu assumed the form of a tortoise and supported the (Mount) Mandara. From the milky ocean which was being churned, first came out the poison known as Hālāhala.
9. That poison being retained by Hara (Siva) in his neck, Śiva became (known to be) Nīlakaṇṭha (blue-necked). Then the goddess Vāruṇī (The female energy of the celestial god Varuṇa), the Pārijāta (tree) and the Kaustubha (gem) came out of the ocean.
10. Then came out the (celestial) kine and the nymphs. Then came out Lakṣmī, who became the consort of Hari (Viṣṇu). Beholding her and adoring her all the celestials regained their lost prosperity.
11. Then Dhanvantari, (a form of Viṣṇu) and founder of the (science of) Ayurveda rose up holding a water-pot full of ambrosia.
12. Taking the ambrosia from his hands the demons Jambha and others having given half of it to the celestials went away with the other half. Then Viṣṇu assumed the form of beautiful damsel.

*భయమును పారద్రోలుట ఉపాధ్యాయుని ప్రథమ కర్తవ్యము. కరుడు కట్టిన విశ్వాసముల వలన భయమేర్పడగలదు. నమ్మినవారిని మోసగించుట వలన భయమేర్పడగలదు. అసత్యములాడుచు కర్తవ్యము నుండి తప్పించుకొనుచు జీవించుట వలన భయ మేర్పడును. భయమునకు కారణము అంతర్ముఖమగు స్వభావమే. భయము ప్రజాపతనమునకు కారణమగును. భయపడువానికి కర్తవ్యమును అందించి దానిని నిరంతరము నిర్వర్తించుట నేర్పవలెను. కర్తవ్య నిర్వహణలో నిమగ్నమైనవానికి భయమదృశ్యమగును.*
*భయముచే మ్రింగబడినవాడు కర్తవ్యమును నిర్వహింపలేడు. కావున ఉపాధ్యాయుడు తన వెంట అతని నుంచు కొని తనతోపాటుగ కర్తవ్యములు నిర్వర్తింపచేయుచు దాని యందలి సుఖమును అనుచరున కందించుచుండవలెను. కర్తవ్యోన్ముఖుడైనచో అనుచరుడు భయమును దాటగలడు. తాను కొంత ప్రయత్నించిన మరికొంత సహాయము ప్రకృతి నుంచి అందును. నీటిపై తేలుట నేర్చినవానిని ఎంత పెద్ద అలయైనను ముంచదు గదా! ముంచక ముందుకు కొనిపోవును. అట్లే కర్తవ్యమున నిలచినవానిని భయము ముంచదు.*
