వాసవి కన్యకా పరమేశ్వరి హిందూ సాంప్రదాయంలో, ముఖ్యంగా ఆర్యవైశ్యులలో అత్యంత పూజ్యమైన దేవతగా భావించబడుతుంది. ఆమెను పరాశక్తి స్వరూపిణిగా, లక్ష్మీదేవి అవతారంగా కూడా ఆరాధిస్తారు. వాసవి అమ్మవారి జీవితం ధర్మం, అహింస, త్యాగం మరియు ఆత్మగౌరవం వంటి విలువలకు ప్రతీకగా నిలిచింది.

Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari is revered in Hindu tradition, especially among the Arya Vysya community, as a highly sacred goddess. She is worshipped as an embodiment of the Supreme Divine Feminine (Parashakti) and also regarded as an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. The life of Vasavi Amma stands as a symbol of values such as righteousness (dharma), non-violence (ahimsa), sacrifice, and self-respect. Her divine story not only inspires devotion but also guides society toward moral integrity and ethical living.

Born in Penugonda to Kusuma Sreshti and Kusumamba, Vasavi displayed divine qualities from a young age. When King Vishnuvardhana sought to marry her against her will, she chose to uphold dharma and embraced the path of non-violence instead of conflict. In a profound act of sacrifice, she, along with members of 102 Vysya gotras, entered the sacred fire (Agni Pravesham), conveying the message that violence can only be overcome through righteousness. Through her life, she conveyed a powerful message to society: “Violence cannot be conquered by violence, but only through dharma.” Following this event, she came to be worshipped as a divine force—Kanyaka Parameswari.

The story of Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari places non-violence at its core. The path she demonstrated appears as an early and powerful ideal of the ahimsa principle later emphasized by Mahatma Gandhi. Her courage and sacrifice—giving up her personal life to protect the dignity of her community—are truly unparalleled. For this reason, Vasavi Amma is revered not only as a goddess but also as an extraordinary spiritual figure.

On the occasion of Vasavi Jayanti, special prayers and celebrations are held with deep reverence. Devotees believe that worshipping her brings prosperity, peace, and a life rooted in dharma.
