*యా కరోతి పదాక్రాంతాన్ భ్రూవిజృంభేణ కేవలమ్॥*
*తాత్పర్యము : అమ్మా! స్త్రీ రూపమున నున్న నా (భగవంతుని) మాయా బలముసు పరికింపుము. స్త్రీ తన భ్రూవిలాసము చేతనే గొప్ప గొప్ప దిగ్విజేతలైన వీరులను గూడ పాదాక్రాంతులను (మోహితులను) గావించును.*

*38. balaṁ me paśya māyāyāḥ strī-mayyā jayino diśām*
*yā karoti padākrāntān bhrūvi-jṛmbheṇa kevalam*
*MEANING : Just try to understand the mighty strength of My māyā in the shape of woman, who by the mere movement of her eyebrows can keep even the greatest conquerors of the world under her grip.*
*PURPORT : One has to study the captivating potency of woman, and man's attraction for that potency. From what source was this generated? According to Vedānta-sūtra, we can understand that everything is generated from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. It is enunciated there, janmādy asya yataḥ (SB 1.1.1). This means that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, or the Supreme Person, Brahman, the Absolute Truth, is the source from whom everything emanates. The captivating power of woman, and man's susceptibility to such attraction, must also exist in the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the spiritual world and must be represented in the transcendental pastimes of the Lord.*
*Instead of being attracted by material beauty, if one is accustomed to be attracted by the beauty of Rādhārāṇī and Kṛṣṇa, then the statement of Bhagavad-gītā, paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate (BG 2.59), holds true. When one is attracted by the transcendental beauty of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, he is no longer attracted by material feminine beauty. That is the special significance of Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa worship. That is testified to by Yāmunācārya. He says, "Since I have become attracted by the beauty of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, when there is attraction for a woman or a memory of sex life with a woman, I at once spit on it, and my face turns in disgust." When we are attracted by Madana-mohana and the beauty of Kṛṣṇa and His consorts, then the shackles of conditioned life, namely the beauty of a material woman, cannot attract us.*

*Kaṃ jalaṃ raśmibhiḥ piban kapiḥ sūryaḥ; kapiḥ*
*varāho vā 'kapirvarāhaḥ śreṣṭhaśca' iti vacanāt*
*Kaṃ stands for water, pi stands for drinking it with his rays. So Kapiḥ is sūrya or sun. Kapiḥ means Varāha or wild boar. 'Kapi is Varāha and eminent' vide Mahābhārata Śānti parva 352.25.*

*ఇంద్రియాలు మనస్సుచే నియంత్రించ బడతాయి మరియు బుద్ధి యొక్క అవగాహన ప్రకారం మనస్సు పనిచేస్తుంది. ఒకటి మరొకటి కంటే ఎక్కువ. ఇంద్రియాల కంటే మనస్సు ఉన్నతమైనది, మనస్సు కంటే బుద్ధి ఉన్నతమైనది. కాబట్టి మనస్సు యొక్క శక్తి ద్వారా, ఇంద్రియాలను నిగ్రహించవచ్చు. కానీ బుద్ధి ఈ విషయం సరైనది, ఇది కాదు అనే నిర్ణయాత్మక ధోరణి అవలంబించినపుడు, ఇంద్రియాలను నియంత్రించే శక్తి మనస్సుకు ఎలా ఉంటుంది? కాబట్టి మనస్సుని నియంత్రించాలంటే బుద్ధిని ఆశ్రయించాలి. అప్పుడు మనస్సు ఇంద్రియాలను నియంత్రిస్తుంది.*
*కానీ సమస్య తలెత్తుతుంది - ఈ ప్రక్రియను బుధ్ధి ఎలా అనుమతిస్తుంది? బుద్ధియే ఈ తప్పును సృష్టిస్తుంది, ఇంకా బుద్ధియే మనస్సును నిగ్రహించు కోవాలని, మనస్సు ఇంద్రియాలను నియంత్రించాలని చెప్పబడింది. బుధ్ధి తనకు మరియు బయటి ప్రపంచానికి మధ్య విభజనను చూస్తుంది. ఇది ప్రతి రకమైన హేతువుకు సృష్టికర్త. అందువల్ల అది తనకు మరియు బయటి వస్తువులకు మధ్య అగాధాన్ని చూస్తుంది. మనస్సు ద్వారా ఇంద్రియాల నియంత్రణను అది ఎలా అనుమతిస్తుంది? కాబట్టి, గీతాచార్యుడు ఇలా అంటాడు: 'మీరు ఉన్నత శక్తిని ఆశ్రయించాలి.'*

*The senses are controlled and directed by the mind, and the mind works according to the understanding of the intellect. The one is higher than the other. Higher than the senses is the mind, and higher than the mind is the intellect. So by the power of the mind, the senses can be restrained. But how can the mind have the power to control the senses, when the intellect passes judgment that such-and-such thing is the proper thing? So the intellect has to be approached, and it has to put a check upon the mind itself; and, sympathetically, the mind puts a check on the senses.*
*But the problem arises—how will the intellect permit this process? It is the intellect that creates this mistake, and yet it is said that the intellect itself should restrain the mind, and the mind has to control the senses. The intellect sees a division between itself and the world outside. It is the creator of logic of every kind, and therefore it sees a gulf between itself and things outside. How will it permit the control of the senses by the mind? Therefore, the great Teacher of the Gita says: “You have to resort to a higher power.”*
