🌷. తాత్పర్యం :
*మానవ పరిగణనము ననుసరించి వేయి యుగముల కాలము బ్రహ్మదేవునికి ఒక పగలు కాగలదు. అతని రాత్రి సైతము అంతే పరిమాణము కలిగి యుండును.*
🌷. భాష్యము :
భౌతికజగత్తు యొక్క కాలపరిమాణము పరిమితమై కల్పములుగా తెలుపబడు చుండును. అట్టి కల్పము బ్రహ్మదేవునికి ఒక పగటి సమయము. బ్రహ్మదేవుని ఆ ఒక్క పగటి సమయమున సత్య, త్రేత, ద్వాపర, కలియుగములు వేయిమార్లు మారుచుండును. అజ్ఞానము మరియు దుర్గుణములు ఏవియును లేకుండా కేవలము, సద్గుణము, జ్ఞానము, ధర్మములను కూడియుండు సత్యయుగము 17,28,000 సంవత్సరముల కాలపరిమితి కలిగియుండును. త్రేతాయుగమునందు దుర్గుణము ప్రవేశించును.
ఆ యుగపు కాలపరిమితి 12,96,000 సంవత్సరములు. ద్వాపరయుగమున సద్గుణము మరియు ధర్మము మరింతగా నశించి దుర్గుణము వృద్దినొందును. దాని కాలపరిమితి 8,64,000 సంవత్సరములు. చివరిదైన కలిగియుగమునందు సద్గుణము దాదాపు లుప్తమై కలహము, అజ్ఞానము, అధర్మము, దుర్గుణము, వ్యసనాది లక్షణము తీవ్రముగా విజృంభించును. ఈ యుగపు కాలపరిమితి 4,32,000 సంవత్సరములు ( ఈ యుగము గత 5,000 సంవత్సరములుగా మన అనుభవము నందున్నది). దీని యందు దుర్గుణము మరయు పాపము విపరీతముగా ప్రబలిపోవును కనుక యుగాంతమున శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుడు కల్కిఅవతారమున దానవులను నిర్జించి, భక్తులను రక్షించి, వేరొక సత్యయుగమును ఆరంభించును. ఆ విధముగా జగత్కార్యము కొనసాగించబడును. అదేరీతి నాలుగుయుగములు వేయిమార్లు మారినప్పడు (చతుర్యుగచక్రము వేయిమార్లు తిరిగినప్పడు) అది బ్రహ్మదేవుని పగలును పూర్తిచేయును. అతని రాత్రియు అంతే పరిమాణము కలిగియుండును. బ్రహ్మదేవుడు అట్టి “శతసంవత్సరముల” కాలము జీవించి తదుపరి తన దేహమును త్యజించును.
మానవపరిగణన ప్రకారము బ్రహ్మదేవుని శతసంవత్సరముల కాలము 311 ట్రిలియన్లు 40 బిలియన్ల సంవత్సరములతో సమానము. ఈ సంఖ్యను బట్టి బ్రహ్మదేవుని ఆయు:పరిమితి అద్భుతముగను, అనంతముగను ఉన్నట్లు తోచినను, నిత్యత్వ దృష్టిలో అది ఒక మెరుపుమెరిసినంత కాలము మాత్రమే. కారణార్ణవ జలములలో అసంఖ్యాకములుగా బ్రహ్మలు సముద్రమునందలి బుడగలవలె ప్రత్యక్షమగుచు నశించుచుందురు. బ్రహ్మ మరియు అతని సృష్టి యనునవి భౌతికజగమునందలి భాగములు గనుక అవి నిత్యపరివర్తన శీలములై యున్నవి. అనగా భౌతికజగమున బ్రహ్మదేవుడు సైతము జన్మము, మృత్యువు, ముసలితనము, వ్యాధుల నుండి బయటబడియుండలేదు. కాని అతడు విశ్వకలాప నిర్వహణములో శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుని సేవ యందు నియుక్తుడైనందున శీఘ్రమే ముక్తిని పొందగలడు. ఆ బ్రహ్మదేవుని లోకమైన బ్రహ్మలోకమునే ఉన్నతులైన సన్న్యాసులు పొందుదురు. అట్టి లోకము భౌతికజగత్తు నందు అత్యున్నతమైన స్వర్గాది ఊర్థ్వలోకములను పోషించుచున్నను, బ్రహ్మ మరియు ఆ బ్రహ్మలోకవాసులు ప్రకృతినియమము ప్రకారము మరణమునకు గురికావలసియే వచ్చును.

🌷 Translation :
*By human calculation, a thousand ages taken together form the duration of Brahmā’s one day. And such also is the duration of his night.*
🌹 Purport :
The duration of the material universe is limited. It is manifested in cycles of kalpas.
A kalpa is a day of Brahmā, and one day of Brahmā consists of a thousand cycles of four yugas, or ages: Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali. The cycle of Satya is characterized by virtue, wisdom and religion, there being practically no ignorance and vice, and the yuga lasts 1,728,000 years.
In the Tretā-yuga vice is introduced, and this yuga lasts 1,296,000 years. In the Dvāpara-yuga there is an even greater decline in virtue and religion, vice increasing, and this yuga lasts 864,000 years.
And finally in Kali-yuga (the yuga we have now been experiencing over the past 5,000 years) there is an abundance of strife, ignorance, irreligion and vice, true virtue being practically nonexistent, and this yuga lasts 432,000 years.
In Kali-yuga vice increases to such a point that at the termination of the yuga the Supreme Lord Himself appears as the Kalki avatāra, vanquishes the demons, saves His devotees, and commences another Satya-yuga.

హయగ్రీవుడు చెప్పెను: బ్రహ్మదేవా! ఇపుడు నేను ఇతర లింగాదులను గూర్చి చెప్పెదను; వినుము లవణముతోను, ఘృతముతోను చేసిన శివలింగము బుద్ధిని వృద్ధి పొందించును. వస్త్రమయ లింగము ఐశ్వర్యదాయకము. అది తాత్కాలిక లింగము. మృత్తికతో నిర్మించిన లింగము పక్వము, అపక్వము అని రెండు విధములు. అపక్వము కంటె పక్వము శ్రేష్ఠము. దాని కంటె కఱ్ఱతో చేసిన లింగము అధిక పుణ్యదాయకము, పవిత్రము. దాని కంటె శిలా లింగము శ్రేష్ఠము. దాని కంటె ముత్యముల శివ లింగము. దాని కంటె సువర్ణ లింగము ఉత్తమములు వెండి, రాగి, ఇత్తడి, రత్నములు, పాదరసము వీటితో నిర్మించిన శివలింగము భోగమోక్షప్రదము, శ్రేష్ఠము, రసలింగమును రత్నములలోగాని, సువర్ణాది లోహములలో గాని బంధించి స్థాపించవలెను. సిద్ధాదులచే స్థాపింపబడిన స్వయం భూలింగాదులకు కొలతలు మొదలగునవి చేయుట యుక్తముకాదు.
బాణ లింగమున విషయమున కూడ (నర్మదోద్భవమునకు) ప్రమాణాదిచింత ఉండ కూడదు. అట్టి లింగములకై ఇచ్ఛానుసారముగా పీఠప్రాసాదాది నిర్మాణము చేయవచ్చును. సూర్యమండలస్థ శివలింగమును అద్దములో ప్రతిబింబింపజేసి పూజించవలెను. లింగముపై శివార్చన పరిపూర్ణము, సకలకామ ప్రదము, శివలింగము ఎత్తు హస్తము కంటె ఎక్కువ ఉండవలెను. కాష్ఠమయ శివలింగము కూడ అంతయే ఉండవలెను. చల శివలింగ స్వరూపమును అంగుళమానానుసారమును, స్థిర లింగ స్వరూపమును ద్వార- గర్భ-హస్తమానముల అనుసారము నిర్ణయింపవలెను. గృహములో పూజింపబడు చల లింగము ప్రమాణము ఒక అంగుళము మొదలు పదునైదు అంగుళముల వరకును ఉండవచ్చును.

*🌻The dimensions of different varieties of the Liṅga - 1 🌻*
The Lord said:
1. I shall describe the measurement of the liṅga in a different way. Listen. I shall (now) speak about the liṅgas made of salt, (and) ghee (which when worshipped) increases (one’s) intellect.
2. A liṅga made of cloth (is worshipped) for the sake of wealth. It is known as temporal. The one made of earth is either burnt or half burnt of which the former is better.
3. Then, one made of wood is meritorious. One made of stone is more meritorious than that made of wood. (The liṅga) made of pearl is more meritorious than that of stone. Then (relatively merit-worthy) are the liṅgas made of iron, and gold.
4. The liṅgas made of silver, copper and brass yield enjoyment and release from bondage. The liṅgas made of red lead and mercury are excellent and confer enjoyment and release from bondage.
5. The installation of a liṅga on the earth made of mercury and iron etc or studded with gems increases one’s glory and grants success as desired.
6. If desired one can build temples and bases to these (emblems) on the left side. One may worship the image of the sun cast on the mirror.
7. Hara should be worshipped everywhere. The worship gets completed only (by the worship) of the liṅga. A liṅga made of stone or wood should be of a cubit length.
8. The movable liṅga should be of the size of a finger and encircled by the adytum. The liṅga worshipped in the house should be of the size of one to fifteen fingers.

A nara (here, meaning a yogi) can reach Shiva only through his pure consciousness (Śaktī), which is the nut shell of Trika philosophy.*
