నారదుడిట్లు పలికెను--
ఓ బ్రహ్మా! లోకములను కలుగజేయు శంకరుడు పార్వతిని వివాహమాడి తనకైలాసమునకు వెళ్లి ఏమి చేసెనో చెప్పుము (2). శివుడు ఆత్మారాముడే అయిననూ పుత్రుని కొరకు ఉమను వివాహమాడెను. అట్టి శివపరమాత్మకు కుమారుడు జన్మించిన విధమెట్టిది? (3) ఓ బ్రహ్మా| దేవతలకు సుఖకరమగు తారకసంహారము ఎట్లు జరిగెను? ఈ వృత్తాంతము నంతనూ నాయందు దయ ఉంచి, పూర్తిగా చెప్పుము (4).
సూతుడిట్లు పలికెను--
నారదుని ఈ పలుకులను విని మిక్కిలి ప్రసన్నమగు మనస్సు గల ప్రజాపతి శంకరుని స్మరించి ఇట్లు బదులిడెను (5).
బ్రహ్మ ఇట్లు పలికెను--
ఓ నారదా! చంద్రశేఖరుని చరితమును, గుహుని దివ్యమగు జన్మ వృత్తాంతమును, తారకాసుర వధను చెప్పెదను వినుము (6). పాపములను పోగొట్టే ఈ కథను ఇప్పుడు చెప్పెదను వినుము. ఈ కథను విన్న మానవుడు సమస్త పాపముల నుండి నిశ్చితముగా విముక్తుడగును (7).
పాపహారిణి, రహస్యము, మిక్కిలి అద్భుతము, పాపముల వలన కలిగే దుఃఖమును పోగొట్టునది, విఘ్నముల నన్నిటినీ నశింపజేయునది (8), సర్వమంగళముల నిచ్చునది, సారభూతమైనది, అందరికీ వినుటకు ఇంపైనది, సుఖముల నిచ్చునది, మోక్షమునకు బీజమైనది, కర్మమూలమును తెగగొట్టు నది అగు ఈ కథను వినుము (9).

1. I salute Śiva who is satisfied with salutation, who loves great devotion, who bestows affection, who makes others too perfect and complete and who is the abode of all fortune and achievements. I salute Śiva who is eulogised by Viṣṇu and Brahmā, who urged by His sympathy assumes visible forms, who bestows truth, who loves truth, whose assets are the threefold truths and who is identical with truth.
Nārada said:—
2. O Brahmā, after marrying Pārvatī and returning to His mountain what did Śiva the benefactor of the worlds do? Please narrate it to me.
3. Who was the son born to Śiva, the great soul, for which purpose the lord, though He rests and revels in Himself, married Pārvatī?
4. O Brahmā, the benefactor of the gods, how was Tāraka[1] slain? Please have pity on me and narrate all this in full.
Sūta said:—
5. On hearing these words of Nārada, Prajāpati was highly delighted and he replied after thinking on Śiva.
Brahmā said:—
6. O Nārada, listen to the tale of Śiva, the moon-crested lord. I shall narrate the story of Guha’s[2] birth and the slaying of the demon Tāraka.
7. Let it be heard. I shall tell you the story that destroys all sins, on hearing which a man is freed from all sins.
8. This narrative is sinless. It is a wonderful secret. It dispels the distress caused by sin and wards off all obstacles.
9. It bestows everything auspicious. It is the essence of the Vedas and is pleasing to the ears. It is conducive to happiness. It is the cause of liberation and cuts off the roots of all actions.

పిమ్మట సోమ - అంగారక - బుధ - గురు - శుక్ర - శని- రాహు - కేతువులను, తేజశ్చండుని పూజించవలెను పిమ్మట సంక్షేపముగ పూజ చెప్పబడుచున్నది. ఆసనము, మూర్తులు, మూలము, హృదయాదులు పరిచారకులు వీరి పూజ చేయవలెను విష్ణ్వాసనమును పూజించవలెను.
విష్ణువు యొక్క మూర్తిని పూజింపవలెను. ''రాం శ్రీం శ్రీం శ్రీధరాయ హరయే నమః'' అని మంత్రము. ''హ్రీం'' అనునది సర్వ మూర్తులకుమ సంబంధించిన త్రైలోక్య మోహన మంత్రము. ''క్లీం'' హృషీ హేశాయ నమః'' ''హూం విష్ణవే నమః'' అను మంత్రము లుచ్చరించవలెను. అన్ని ధీర్ఘ స్వరములచే హృదమాదికమును పూజించవలెను. ఈ పంచమ పూజ యుద్ధాదులో జయము నిచ్చును.
చక్ర - గదా - శంఖ - ముసల - ఖడ్గ - శార్జ - పాశ - అంకుశ -శ్రీవత్స - కౌస్తుభ - వనమాలలను పూజించవలెను. ''శ్రీం'' అను బీజాక్షరమతో శ్రీదేవిని, మహాలక్ష్మిని, తార్యని, గురువును, ఇంద్రాదులను పూజించవలెను.
సరస్వతీ పూజయందు ఆసనమును, మూర్తిని పూజించవలెను. ''రౌం హ్రీం దేవ్యై సరస్వత్యై నమః'' అని మంత్రము. హృదయాదులను పూజించవలెను. లక్ష్మి, మేధ, కల, తుష్టి, ప్రష్టి, గౌరి, ప్రభావతి దుర్గ, గణము, గురువు క్షేత్రపాలుడు - వీరినందరిని పూజించవలెను.
''గం గణపతయే నమః'' ''హ్రీం గౌర్యై నమః'', శ్రీం శ్రియై నమః'', ''హ్రీం త్వరితాయై నమః'', ఏం క్లీం సౌం త్రిపురాయై నమః'' అని మంత్రములు. వీటికి ప్రారంభమున ప్రణవమును చేర్చి పేరాలోని మొదటి అక్షరమునకు బిందువు చేర్చవలెను. లేదా పూజాజపములందు అన్ని మంత్రములను ''ఓం'' కారముతో ప్రాంభింపవలెను.
ఈ మంత్రములతో నువ్వులు, నెయ్యి, మొదలైనవి హోమము చేసినచో ధర్మార్థకామమోక్షములు లభించును. పూజా మంత్రములను పఠించువాడు భోగముల నన్నియు అనుభవించి స్వర్గమునకు వెళ్ళును.
అగ్ని మహాపురాణములో విష్ణ్వాది దేవతా సామాన్య పూజానిరూపణ మను ఇరువదియొకటవ అధ్యాయము సమాప్తము.

*🌻 Method of worshipping Viṣṇu and other gods - 3 🌻*
19. Then Soma (Moon), Aṅgāraka (Mars),Budha (Mercury), Jīva (Jupiter), Śukra (Venus) and Śani (Saturn) as well as Rāhu, Ketu, tejas, Caṇḍa are worshipped in order in brief. Then the worshipper (should worship) the seat of the image (of the deity) and the heart etc.
20. (The mantra) for the seat of Viṣṇu for the image of Viṣṇu. (is) “Rām, Śrīm, Śrīm, Śrīdhara, Hari.” Hrīm (is) the mystic syllable for the images (of all deities) which is capable of captivating the three worlds.
21. Hrīm, Hṛṣīkeśa (master of the senses) (Viṣṇu), Klīm, Viṣṇu. With long vowels (one should adore) the heart and other things. (The performance)of worship on the fifth day (pañcamī) with all these (mystic syllables) yields victory in battles.
22-23. Worship of the disc, mace, conch, pestle, sword, Śārṅga (the bow), noose, goad, Śrīvatsa (mark on the chest of the lord), with the garland of wood-flowers and with the mantra Śrīm, worship of Śrī, Mahālakṣmī, Tārkṣya (vehicle of Viṣṇu), the preceptor, Indra etc. (are made) in order. With the (mystic) syllable Aum, Hrīm, Devī (goddess) Sarasvatī (one has to worship) the seat of (Goddess) Sarasvatī.
24. The Hṛt etc., Lakṣmī, Medhā, Kalā, Tuṣṭi, Puṣṭikā, Gaurī, Prabhāvatī, (and) Durgā (the different female divinities), goblins, preceptor and the presiding deity of the field (are worshipped).
25. Then (one has to say) Gaṃ, (salutation) to the lord of the gaṇas, Hrīm to Gaurī, Śrīm to Śrī, Hrīm to Tvaritā, Aim, Klīm, Saum to Tripurā using the fourth declensional endings and ending with salutations.
26. All the mystic syllables are pronounced preceded by the Praṇava (syllable Om), adding bindu (the nasal sound marked by a dot), either while offering adorations or the performance of repetition.
27. By the offer of a homa (offer unto the fire) with sesamum and ghee and other things, (these mantras) become bestowers of dharma, kāma, artha and mokṣa (four principal objects of human life). Whoever reads these syllables of adoration reaches heaven after enjoying pleasures.

*హృదయము సహస్రారమునకును, మూలాధారమునకును నడుమ గల క్షేత్రము. పరమశివుడు హృదయము వరకు వచ్చి, మూలాధారమునుండి హృదయమును చేరిన పార్వతి నందు కొనును. మూడు లోకములు దాటి నాలుగవ లోకమునకు చేరిన జీవునిపై మూడు లోకముల నుండి దిగివచ్చి దేవుడందు కొనును.*
*రాముని కొరకై వేచియున్న సీతను రాముడే మిథిలకు వచ్చి పెండ్లియాడుట, కృష్ణుని కొరకై వేచియున్న రుక్మిణీదేవిని కృష్ణుడే వచ్చి పెండ్లియాడుట, దేవుని కొరకు వేచియున్న జీవునికి, దేవుడే సాన్నిధ్య మిచ్చుట జరుగును. దైవమును గూర్చి వేచియుండుటకు హృదయమే నిజమగు స్థానము. పార్వతి, సీత, రుక్మిణి భక్తులు. దైవమును గూర్చి హృదయముననే వేచియుండి సాన్నిధ్యము పొంది ఏకత్వము చెందిరి. పై తెలిపిన సమాగమమున ఆనందము పరాకాష్ఠను చేరును. అట్టి స్థితిలో శ్రీమాత సంపూర్ణమగు ఆనంద స్వరూపిణిగ భాసించును.*

*This nāma talks about the essence of love that She exhibits while being with Śiva, all alone. The love between Śiva and Śaktī is beautifully described in various scriptures. The essence of love or śṛṅgāra-rasa is the cause for other rasa-s. Though these narrations go well while visualizing Her form, Her Absolute form is beyond all these qualities and attributes.*
*There is one more interpretation for this nāma. Śṛṅgāra means primary, arara means veil, sampūrṇa means the Brahman. If interpreted this way, then it means that She is in the form of pure Brahman nirguṇa Brahman and also in the form of the Brahman with attributes (māyā form). It is also said that pūrṇagiri pīṭha is referred in this nāma.*
