*యోఽనుయాతి దదత్క్లేశమవిద్యాకర్మబంధనః॥*
*తాత్పర్యము : ఈ దేహము, ఆధివ్యాధులు మొదలగు వివిధ క్లేశములను తెచ్చిపెట్టును. అజ్ఞాన కారణముగా ఈ దేహము కొరకై అనేక దుష్కర్మలను ఆచరించుచు అతడు ఆ కర్మబంధములలో తగుల్కొనును. ఫలితముగా, మరల మరలా జనన మరణ చక్రములో పరిభ్రమించు చుండును.*
*వ్యాఖ్య : భగవద్గీతలో యజ్ఞం లేదా విష్ణువును సంతృప్తి పరచడానికి కృషి చేయాలని చెప్పబడింది, పరమాత్మను సంతృప్తి పరచాలనే ఉద్దేశ్యం లేకుండా చేసే ఏ పని అయినా బంధానికి కారణం. షరతులతో కూడిన స్థితిలో ఒక జీవి, తన శరీరాన్ని తనలాగా స్వీకరించి, పరమాత్మతో తనకున్న శాశ్వతమైన సంబంధాన్ని మరచిపోయి తన శరీర ప్రయోజనాలను దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకుని పనిచేస్తాడు. అతను శరీరాన్ని తనలాగా, తన శరీర విస్తరణలను తన బంధువులుగా మరియు తన శరీరం నుండి పుట్టిన భూమిని పూజనీయంగా తీసుకుంటాడు. ఈ విధంగా అతను అన్ని రకాల తప్పుగా భావించే కార్యకలాపాలను నిర్వహిస్తాడు, ఇది వివిధ జాతులలో జనన మరణాల పునరావృతంలో అతని శాశ్వత బంధానికి దారి తీస్తుంది.*

*31. tad-arthaṁ kurute karma yad-baddho yāti saṁsṛtim*
*yo 'nuyāti dadat kleśam avidyā-karma-bandhanaḥ*
*MEANING : For the sake of the body, which is a source of constant trouble to him and which follows him because he is bound by ties of ignorance and fruitive activities, he performs various actions which cause him to be subjected to repeated birth and death.*
*PURPORT : In Bhagavad-gītā it is said that one has to work to satisfy Yajña, or Viṣṇu, for any work done without the purpose of satisfying the Supreme Personality of Godhead is a cause of bondage. In the conditioned state a living entity, accepting his body as himself, forgets his eternal relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead and acts on the interest of his body. He takes the body as himself, his bodily expansions as his kinsmen, and the land from which his body is born as worshipable. In this way he performs all sorts of misconceived activities, which lead to his perpetual bondage in repetition of birth and death in various species.*
*In modern civilization, the so-called social, national and government leaders mislead people more and more, under the bodily conception of life, with the result that all the leaders, with their followers, are gliding down to hellish conditions birth after birth. The conclusion is that as long as one is fixed in the bodily conception, he has to suffer birth and death.*

*Religions often have made the mistake of a transcendent ascent of the religious spirit, overcoming the laws of the world, facing God in the high heavens and preaching a renunciation of the things of the world to the extreme point, the breaking point we may say, until it would be not tolerated by the laws of the world. The person who renounces the world is a part of the world—we forget that, and there lies the mistake. The suffering of the seeker is due to a mistaken notion of himself in relation to the world outside. He has not yet become a part of God, though he is aspiring to be such, and the hands of God work through the forms of the world—that cannot be forgotten.*
*Just as the power of the president or the prime minister may work through a small official, and we cannot ignore this official merely by saying that we are not concerned with him in any manner inasmuch as we are somehow or other placed in an atmosphere over which he has jurisdiction, the world has jurisdiction over our individuality. The world is made up of several grades of density, to which we have already made reference. There are the various lokas—Bhuloka, Bhuvarloka, Suvarloka, Maharloka, Janaloka, Tapoloka And Satyaloka. The ascent of the spirit is through the ascent of these various densities of manifestation, the lokas; and we are in the physical realm, not in other realms.*

*🌴. Although Yogi is liberated from the body and bondage, he performs his bodily functions as acts of penance or worship to keep it alive. 🌴*
*śarīra – body; vṛttiḥ - remaining; vratam – vow. The previous sūtra said that the yogi appears like Śiva. The only differentiation is that the yogi continues to live with his body. He has to maintain his body till it lasts. Generally one is supposed to perform virtuous acts in order to balance his karmic account. Virtuous acts could mean such as poor feeding or any service oriented acts towards the betterment of the humanity. Religious rituals are also called virtuous acts. If rituals give devotional satisfaction, one can perform them.*
