*03. grāmya-dharma-nivṛttiś ca mokṣa-dharma-ratis tathā
mita-medhyādanaṁ śaśvad vivikta-kṣema-sevanam
*MEANING : One should cease performing conventional religious practices and should be attracted to those which lead to salvation. One should eat very frugally and should always remain secluded so that he can achieve the highest perfection of life.*
*PURPORT : It is recommended herein that religious practice for economic development or the satisfaction of sense desires should be avoided. Religious practices should be executed only to gain freedom from the clutches of material nature. It is stated in the beginning of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam that the topmost religious practice is that by which one can attain to the transcendental devotional service of the Lord, without reason or cause. Such religious practice is never hampered by any impediments, and by its performance one actually becomes satisfied. Here this is recommended as mokṣa-dharma, religious practice for salvation, or transcendence of the clutches of material contamination. Generally people execute religious practices for economic development or sense gratification, but that is not recommended for one who wants to advance in yoga.*
*The next important phrase is mita-medhyādanam, which means that one should eat very frugally. It is recommended in the Vedic literatures that a yogī eat only half what he desires according to his hunger. The yogī should eat in this way, as recommended in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and all other standard scriptures. The yogī should live in a secluded place, where his yoga practice will not be disturbed.*

సనత్కుమారిడిట్లు పలికెను-
గొప్ప అర్థముతో నిండి ప్రకాశించే ఆతని ఆ మాటను విని, ఆ రాక్షసరాజు మనస్సులో ఆశ్చర్యమును పొంది మోహితుడై అచటకు వెళ్లెను (52). 'నారదుడు దీక్షను స్వీకరించినవాడు గనుక, మేము దీక్షను గైకొనెదము'. ఆతడు ఇట్లు తలపోసి స్వయముగా వెళ్లెను (53). ఆ యతి యొక్క రూపమును చూచి మరియు మాయచే మోహితుడై ఆతడు ఆ మహాత్మునకు నమస్కరించి ఇట్లు పలికెను (54).
త్రిపురాధీశుడు ఇట్లు పలికెను-
పవిత్రమగు హృదయము గల ఓ మహర్షీ! నీవు నాకు దీక్షను ఇమ్ము నేను నీకు శిష్యుడను కాగలను. ఇది ముమ్మాటికీ సత్యము. సందేహము లేదు (55). సనాతనుడగు ఆ యతి రాక్షసురాజు యొక్క ఆ కపటము లేని మాటను విని జాగరూకతతో నిట్లు బదులిడెను (56). ఓ రాక్షస శ్రేష్ఠా! నీవు నా ఆజ్ఞను పాలించే పక్షములో నేను నీకు దీక్షను ఇచ్చెదను. అట్లు గానిచో కోటి ప్రయత్నములను చేసిననూ దీక్షను ఈయజాలను (57). ఆ రాజు ఈ మాటను విని మాయా మోహితుడై వెంటనే చేతులు జోడించి ఆ యతితో నిట్లనెను (58).
రాక్షసుడు ఇట్లు పలికెను -
నీవు ఆజ్ఞాపించినట్లే సర్వమును నేను చేయగలను. దీనికి తిరుగు లేదు. నీ ఆజ్ఞను నేను ఉల్లఘించను. ఇది ముమ్మాటికీ సత్యము. సందేహము లేదు (59).
సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను-
త్రిపురాధీశ్వరుని ఈ మాటలను విని అపుడా యోగి శ్రేష్ఠుడు నోటికి కట్టిన వస్త్రమును ప్రక్కకు తొలగించి ఇట్లనెను (60). ఓ రాక్షసరాజా! సర్వధర్మములలో ఉత్తమోత్తమమైన ఈ దీక్షను స్వీకరించుము. నీవు ఈ దీక్షను పాటించినచో కృతార్థుడవు కాగలవు (61). ఇట్లు పలికి మాయావి యగు ఆ యతి వెంటనే రాక్షసరాజునకు తన శాస్త్రములో విధింపబడిన విధానములో యథావిధిగా దీక్షను ఇచ్చెను (62). ఓ మహర్షీ! సోదరులతో కలిసి రాక్షసరాజు దీక్షను స్వీకరించగానే, త్రిపురములయందు నివసించు వారందరు దీక్షను స్వీకరించిరి (63).
ఓ మహర్షీ! అపుడు మహామాయవి యగు ఆ యతీశ్వరుని శిష్యప్రశిష్యులతో త్రిపురములన్నియూ శీఘ్రమే నిండి పోయెను (64).
శ్రీ శివమహాపురాణములోని రుద్రసంహిత యందు యుద్ధఖండలో త్రిపుర వాసుల దీక్షాస్వీకారము అనే నాల్గవ అధ్యాయము ముగిసినది (4).

54. On seeing his features, the Asura was deluded by his magic. After bowing to him be spoke thus.
The Tripura ruler said:—
55. O sage of pure mind, you shall perform my initiation. I shall become your disciple. True. It is undoubtedly true.
56. On hearing the frank words of the ruler of the Asuras the heretic sage, professing to be eternal, spoke emphatically.
57. O excellent Asura, if you are prepared to act according to my behests, I shall initiate you, otherwise not, even if you strive for a number of times.
58. On hearing these words the king was deluded by magic. With palms joined in reverence he immediately replied to the sage.
The Asura said:—
59. I shall carry out whatever command you are pleased to give. I will not transgress your orders. True. It is certainly true.
Sanatkumāra said:—
60. On hearing the words of the Tripura-ruler, the excellent sage removed the cloth from his mouth and said.
61. “O lord of Asuras, take initiation in this most excellent of all cults. By this initiation you will become contented.”
Sanatkumāra said:—
62. Saying thus, the deceptive sage immediately performed the initiation of the ruler of the Asuras, in accordance with his cult observing all rules.
63. O sage, when the ruler of the Asuras was initiated along with his brothers, the residents of the three cities too got themselves initiated.
64. O sage, the entire Tripuras were filled with the line of disciples of the sage, an expert in great art of illusion.

*It means the mother of Kumara and Ganapati. On Srimata's inspiration, Lord Kumara emerged from Lord Shiva's essence personified as fire. He is very powerful. Power is his weapon. There is no one more powerful than him in creation. There is no one more handsome than him either. Ganapati is born from the will of Srimata. He is the personification of Brahmavidya as he is endowed with great power. In him the powers of Shiva and Shakthi are fully blessed. He is the lord of Siddhi ( success) and Buddhi( intelligence). He was the Lord Kumara's teacher of Brahmavidya( occult knowledge). Lord Kumara received and practised Brahmavidya from Ganapati himself and was worshipped as Lord Subrahmanya.
