*MEANING : My devotee actually becomes self-realized by My unlimited causeless mercy, and thus, when freed from all doubts, he steadily progresses towards his destined abode, which is directly under the protection of My spiritual energy of unadulterated bliss.*
*PURPORT : Actual self-realization means becoming a pure devotee of the Lord. The existence of a devotee implies the function of devotion and the object of devotion. Self-realization ultimately means to understand the Personality of Godhead and the living entities; to know the individual self and the reciprocal exchanges of loving service between the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the living entity is real self-realization. This cannot be attained by the impersonalists or other transcendentalists; they cannot understand the science of devotional service. Devotional service is revealed to the pure devotee by the unlimited causeless mercy of the Lord. This is especially spoken of here by the Lord—mat-prasādena, "by My special grace." This is also confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā. Only those who engage in devotional service with love and faith receive the necessary intelligence from the Supreme Personality of Godhead so that gradually and progressively they can advance to the abode of the Personality of Godhead.*

సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను -
మహాతేజస్వియగు అచ్యుతుడు త్రిపురాసురుల ధర్మమునకు విఘ్నమును కలిగించుటకై తన దేహము నుండి ఒక మాయా పురుషుని సృష్టించెను (1). ఆతడు ముండితశిరస్కుడై చినిగిన వస్త్రములను ధరించి పాత్రలను త్రాటియందు గుచ్చి పట్టుకొనెను. ఆతడు చేతియందు మణిని ధరించి ప్రతి అడుగునందు దానిని త్రిప్పుచుండెను (2). ఆతడు చేతులపై వస్త్రములను ధరించెను. ముఖము నందు చిక్కి యున్న ఆతడు భయముతో నిండిన స్వరముతో ధర్మ శబ్దమును పలుకుచుండెను. ఓ మునీ! (3) ఆతడు పాపములను హరించు విష్ణువునకు నమస్కరించి ఆయన యెదుట నిలబడి చేతులు జోడించి అపుడు ఇట్లు పలికెను (4).
అరిహన్‌ అను పేరు గల ఆతడు పూజ్యుడగు అచ్యుతునితో నిట్లనెను: ఓ ప్రభూ! నేనేమి చేయవలెనో ఆదేశించుము. ఓ దేవా! నా నామములను, మరియు స్థానమును కూడా చెప్పుము (5). ఆతని ఈ శుభవచనమును విని విష్ణు భగవానుడు ప్రసన్నమగు మనస్సుగలవాడై ఇట్లు పలికెను (6).
విష్ణువు ఇట్లు పలికెను-
నా శరీరమునుండి పుట్టిన ఓ గొప్ప బుద్ధిశాలీ! నీవు సృష్టింపబడుటకు గల కారణమును చెప్పెదను. తెలుసుకొనుము. నీవు నా స్వరూపమే ననుటలో సందేహము లేదు (7). నా శరీరమునుండి జన్మించిన నీవు నా కార్యమును చేయ తగుదువు. నీవు నా వాడవు గనుక సర్వదా పూజల నందుకొనగలవు. సందేహము లేదు (8). నీకు అరిహన్‌ అను పేరు ప్రసిద్ధమగును. ఇతర నామములు ఉన్ననూ, అవి శుభకరములు గావు. నీ స్థానమును తరువాత చెప్పగలను. ఇప్పుడు ప్రస్తుత విషయమును శ్రద్ధతో వినుము (9).

1. For causing obstacles in their virtuous activities, Viṣṇu of great brilliance, created a Puruṣa[1] born of himself.
2. He had a shaven head, wore dirty clothes, held a woven wicker vessel in his hand and a roll of cotton in his hand which he shook at every step.
3. His hands tucking at the cloth were weak. His face was pale and weak. In a faltering voice he was muttering “Dharma, Dharma.”
4. He bowed to Viṣṇu and stood in front of him. He spoke to Viṣṇu with hands joined in reverence.
5. “O laudable, revered one, please tell me what my names are and what my place shall be.”
6. On hearing these auspicious words, Lord Viṣṇu became delighted and spoke these words.
Viṣṇu said:—
7. O intelligent one, born of me, you are certainly identical with me in form. Know why you have been created. I shall tell you.
8. You are born of me. You can perform my task. You are my own. Certainly you will be worthy of worship always.
9. Let your name be Arihat. You will have other auspicious names too. I shall assign to you a place afterwards. Now hear with reverence what is relevant to the context.

*Society creates false selves, says that children are this or that, that they should behave this way or that. The society gives ideals, ideas, and very soon the child becomes accustomed to the fact that he is a religioous, that he is a man and he has to behave in a manly way, that he should not cry because that is sissy. The girl starts behaving in a feminine way-- she learns that she should not climb trees, that that is boyish. Slowly, there are more and more boundaries, and they go on becoming narrower; then everyone feels suffocated. That is the situation :*
*Everybody is suffocated, and deep down everybody hankers to be free. But how? It seems that the walls that surround one are really very powerful and strong. And people live in this kind of imprisonment their whole lives. They live in prison and they die in prison, never having known what life was, what life was meant to be, never knowing the glory and the grandeur of existence. This is the conditioned state of mind.
