🌹 Tirupati Sri Govinda Raja Swamy Brahmotsavams 2026 – Divine Grandeur, Historical Significance, and a Spiritual Celebration 🌹

In Sanatana Dharma, temple festivals are not merely traditional rituals; they symbolize devotion, culture, Vedic heritage, and divine consciousness. Among such sacred celebrations, the annual Sri Govinda Raja Swamy Brahmotsavams, held at the historic Sri Govinda Raja Swamy Temple situated in the heart of Tirupati, occupy a special place. Every year, these grand festivities immerse thousands of devotees in spiritual bliss, and this year the celebrations are being conducted magnificently from May 23 to May 31 for nine days. The entire city of Tirupati has already transformed into a divine spectacle with colorful floral decorations, dazzling illuminations, and a spiritually charged atmosphere.
On the evening prior to the commencement of the festivities, the sacred ritual of Ankurarpanam (Beejavapanam) was performed with Vedic chanting and auspicious traditional music. This ceremony marked the ceremonial beginning of the Brahmotsavams in a highly traditional manner. Ankurarpanam is considered a sacred ritual symbolizing the beginning of a divine event, wherein seeds are sown as an auspicious act, signifying prosperity and invoking the blessings of the celestial deities.
The Sri Govinda Raja Swamy Temple is one of the most ancient Vaishnava temples in Tirupati. Historical records indicate that the temple was consecrated around 1130 AD by Sri Ramanujacharya, the great propagator of the Sri Vaishnava tradition. According to sacred beliefs, Sri Govinda Raja Swamy is considered the elder brother of Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala. Devotees believe that during Lord Srinivasa's marriage to Goddess Lakshmi, Govinda Raja Swamy was entrusted with the responsibility of measuring and safeguarding the immense wealth borrowed from Kubera. After continuously measuring the wealth, the Lord is believed to have become tired and rested upon Adisesha, using the measuring vessel as a pillow beneath His head. Therefore, devotees traditionally consider it auspicious to have the darshan of Govinda Raja Swamy before or during their Tirumala pilgrimage.
The word Brahmotsavam itself carries profound spiritual significance. According to ancient scriptures, these are divine celebrations first performed by Lord Brahma himself to glorify the greatness of the Supreme Lord before the world. It is believed that during these festivities, even the celestial beings and divine entities descend to participate in the celebrations.
On the first day of the Brahmotsavams, May 23, the sacred Dwajarohanam ceremony will be performed in the Mithuna Lagna, during which the Garuda flag will be ceremonially hoisted atop the temple flagstaff. This ritual signifies inviting all celestial beings to witness and participate in the divine festivities. Following Dwajarohanam, Lord Govinda Raja Swamy will bless devotees with His first Vahana Seva on Pedda Sesha Vahanam during the night procession through the temple streets.
One of the most significant aspects of the Brahmotsavams is the Vahana Sevas. Every day, devotees receive the divine blessings of the Lord through different sacred vehicles from 7:00–9:00 AM and 7:00–9:00 PM. Each vehicle represents a unique spiritual message and symbolism.
On May 24, the Lord will grace devotees on Chinna Sesha Vahanam in the morning and Hamsa Vahanam in the evening. The Hamsa (swan) symbolizes wisdom and discrimination. On May 25, Simha Vahanam will take place in the morning, representing courage, strength, and divine power, while the evening procession will feature the Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam, beautifully adorned with pearl decorations.
On May 26, devotees will witness the Lord on Kalpavriksha Vahanam in the morning and Sarvabhoopala Vahanam in the evening along with Goddess Lakshmi. The Kalpavriksha symbolizes divine compassion and the fulfillment of devotees' wishes.
One of the grandest highlights of these nine-day festivities will occur on May 27, which features the much-awaited Garuda Seva. In the morning, the Lord will appear in the enchanting Mohini Avataram on a palanquin, while the night procession of Garuda Vahanam, considered the most important attraction of the Brahmotsavams, will take place with great splendor. Thousands of devotees from various parts of the country gather to witness this sacred event. Since Garuda is the divine vehicle of Lord Vishnu, this procession holds exceptional importance. Devotees believe that witnessing Garuda Seva grants divine blessings and removes sins.
On May 28, the Lord will appear on Hanumantha Vahanam in the morning and Gaja Vahanam in the evening. On May 29, devotees will receive darshan on Suryaprabha Vahanam in the morning and Chandraprabha Vahanam in the evening. These processions symbolize light, peace, wisdom, and spiritual growth in life.
As the festivities approach their conclusion, Rathotsavam will be celebrated grandly on the morning of May 30. Thousands of devotees will pull the grand temple chariot with immense devotion while chanting the divine name of Govinda throughout the streets of Tirupati. The Ashwa Vahanam procession will take place during the night.
On the final day, May 31, 2026, the sacred Chakrasnanam ritual will be conducted in the temple Pushkarini. This ritual is considered equivalent to the sacred concluding bath performed after a grand yajna. Devotees believe that taking a holy dip during this auspicious occasion washes away sins and grants divine merit. Later in the evening, Dwajavarohanam will formally conclude the Brahmotsavams in a sacred and auspicious manner.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made extensive arrangements for devotees during these festivities. Considering the summer heat, facilities such as shaded shelters, drinking water arrangements, and uninterrupted distribution of free prasadam have been organized. In addition, under the guidance of the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad and Annamacharya Project, devotional music concerts, Harikathas, Kolatam performances, and various spiritual cultural programs are being conducted daily.
The Sri Govinda Raja Swamy Brahmotsavams are not merely temple celebrations; they represent a magnificent confluence of devotion, culture, tradition, and divine experience. Every devotee participating in these sacred festivities believes they will receive the compassionate blessings of the Lord and attain peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment in life.

సనాతన ధర్మంలో దేవాలయ ఉత్సవాలు కేవలం సంప్రదాయ ఆచారాలకే పరిమితం కావు; అవి భక్తి, సంస్కృతి, వేద సంప్రదాయం మరియు దైవ చైతన్యానికి ప్రతీకలుగా నిలుస్తాయి. అలాంటి దివ్య మహోత్సవాలలో తిరుపతి నడిబొడ్డున వెలసి, శతాబ్దాల చరిత్ర కలిగిన శ్రీ గోవిందరాజ స్వామి ఆలయంలో జరిగే వార్షిక బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలు ప్రత్యేక స్థానం కలిగి ఉన్నాయి. ప్రతి సంవత్సరం వేలాదిమంది భక్తులను ఆధ్యాత్మిక ఆనందంలో ముంచెత్తే ఈ మహోత్సవాలు ఈ ఏడాది అత్యంత వైభవంగా మే 23 నుండి మే 31 వరకు తొమ్మిది రోజుల పాటు జరగనున్నాయి. తిరుపతి నగరం మొత్తం ఇప్పటికే ఆధ్యాత్మిక శోభతో, పుష్పాలంకరణలతో, విద్యుద్దీపాల కాంతులతో జగజ్జేగీయమానంగా మారింది.
ఈ మహోత్సవాలకు ముందు రోజు సాయంత్రం వేదమంత్రాలు, మంగళవాయిద్యాల నడుమ అత్యంత శాస్త్రోక్తంగా నిర్వహించిన అంకురార్పణ (బీజావాపనం) కార్యక్రమంతో బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలకు వైభవంగా అంకురార్పణ జరిగింది. అంకురార్పణ అనేది దైవకార్యానికి ప్రారంభ సూచికగా భావించబడే పవిత్ర కర్మ. ఇందులో ధాన్యాలను నాటి శుభసూచకంగా ఉత్సవాలకు శ్రీకారం చుడతారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంతో దేవతల ఆశీస్సులు లభిస్తాయని విశ్వాసం.
శ్రీ గోవిందరాజ స్వామి ఆలయం తిరుపతిలోని అత్యంత ప్రాచీన వైష్ణవ ఆలయాలలో ఒకటి. చారిత్రక ఆధారాల ప్రకారం క్రీ.శ. 1130లో శ్రీ వైష్ణవ సంప్రదాయ ప్రవర్తకులైన శ్రీ రామానుజాచార్యులవారు ఈ ఆలయాన్ని ప్రతిష్ఠించారు. పురాణాల ప్రకారం శ్రీ గోవిందరాజ స్వామిని తిరుమల శ్రీ వేంకటేశ్వర స్వామికి అన్నగా భావిస్తారు. శ్రీనివాసుని లక్ష్మీ కళ్యాణం సందర్భంగా కుబేరుని వద్ద నుండి తీసుకున్న అపారమైన ధనరాసులను కొలిచి సంరక్షించే బాధ్యతను గోవిందరాజ స్వామి నిర్వహించారని భక్తుల విశ్వాసం. ఆ ధనాన్ని కొలిచి అలసిపోయిన స్వామివారు, తల కింద కొలిచే కుంచాన్ని దిండుగా పెట్టుకుని శేషతల్పంపై విశ్రాంతి తీసుకుంటున్న భంగిమలో దర్శనమిస్తారని చెబుతారు. అందువల్ల తిరుమల యాత్రకు వెళ్లే భక్తులు గోవిందరాజ స్వామిని దర్శించుకోవడం ఒక పవిత్ర సంప్రదాయంగా భావిస్తారు.
బ్రహ్మోత్సవం అనే పదానికి అత్యంత గొప్ప ఆధ్యాత్మిక ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉంది. పురాణాల ప్రకారం సృష్టికర్త బ్రహ్మదేవుడు స్వయంగా దేవుని మహిమను లోకానికి తెలియజేయడానికి నిర్వహించిన ఉత్సవాలే బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలుగా ప్రసిద్ధి చెందాయి. అందువల్ల ఈ ఉత్సవాలకు ముక్కోటి దేవతలు కూడా హాజరవుతారని విశ్వాసం ఉంది.
బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలలో మొదటి రోజైన మే 23న ఉదయం మిథున లగ్నంలో ఆలయ ధ్వజస్తంభంపై గరుడ పటాన్ని ఎగురవేసి 'ధ్వజారోహణం' కార్యక్రమాన్ని అత్యంత వైభవంగా నిర్వహిస్తారు. ఇది దేవతలను ఉత్సవాలకు ఆహ్వానించడాన్ని సూచిస్తుంది. ధ్వజారోహణం అనంతరం రాత్రి స్వామివారు తన తొలి వాహనసేవగా పెద్దశేష వాహనం పై తిరువీధుల్లో ఊరేగి భక్తులకు దివ్య దర్శనమివ్వనున్నారు.
బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలలో అత్యంత విశిష్టమైన అంశం వాహన సేవలు. ప్రతి రోజు ఉదయం 7 గంటల నుండి 9 గంటల వరకు, రాత్రి 7 గంటల నుండి 9 గంటల వరకు స్వామివారు వివిధ దివ్య వాహనాలపై భక్తులను అనుగ్రహిస్తారు. ప్రతి వాహన సేవకు ఒక ప్రత్యేక ఆధ్యాత్మిక సందేశం ఉంటుంది.
మే 24న ఉదయం చిన్నశేష వాహనం, రాత్రి హంస వాహనం సేవలు జరుగుతాయి. హంస జ్ఞానం మరియు వివేకానికి ప్రతీకగా భావించబడుతుంది. మే 25న ఉదయం సింహ వాహనం, రాత్రి ముత్యపుపందిరి వాహనం సేవలు నిర్వహిస్తారు. సింహం ధైర్యం, శక్తి మరియు దైవ పరాక్రమానికి సూచికగా భావించబడుతుంది.
మే 26న ఉదయం కల్పవృక్ష వాహనం, రాత్రి సర్వభూపాల వాహనం పై లక్ష్మీ సమేతుడైన గోవిందరాజ స్వామి దర్శనమిస్తారు. కల్పవృక్షం భక్తుల కోరికలను తీర్చే దైవకరుణకు ప్రతీకగా భావించబడుతుంది.
ఈ తొమ్మిది రోజుల ఉత్సవాలలో అత్యంత ప్రధానమైన ఘట్టం మే 27న జరిగే గరుడ సేవ. అదే రోజు ఉదయం స్వామివారు మోహినీ అవతారంలో పల్లకిపై దర్శనమివ్వగా, రాత్రి బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలకే ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణ అయిన గరుడ వాహన సేవ అత్యంత వైభవంగా నిర్వహించబడుతుంది. ఈ సేవను దర్శించడానికి దేశం నలుమూలల నుండి వేలాదిమంది భక్తులు తరలివస్తారు. గరుడుడు శ్రీ మహావిష్ణువు వాహనం కావడంతో ఈ సేవకు అత్యంత విశిష్ట స్థానం ఉంది. ఈ దర్శనం చేసిన వారికి దైవానుగ్రహం, పాపక్షయం కలుగుతాయని విశ్వాసం.
మే 28న ఉదయం హనుమంత వాహనం, రాత్రి గజ వాహనం సేవలు జరుగుతాయి. మే 29న ఉదయం సూర్యప్రభ వాహనం, రాత్రి చంద్రప్రభ వాహనం నిర్వహిస్తారు. ఇవి జీవనంలో కాంతి, శాంతి, జ్ఞానం మరియు ఆధ్యాత్మిక వికాసాన్ని సూచిస్తాయి.
ఉత్సవాల చివరి దశలో మే 30న ఉదయం రథోత్సవం అత్యంత ఘనంగా నిర్వహించబడుతుంది. వేలాది మంది భక్తులు భక్తి పారవశ్యంతో పెద్ద రథాన్ని లాగుతూ గోవింద నామస్మరణతో తిరువీధులను మార్మోగిస్తారు. అదే రోజు రాత్రి అశ్వ వాహన సేవ జరుగుతుంది.
చివరి రోజైన మే 31న ఉదయం ఆలయ పుష్కరిణిలో చక్రస్నానం అత్యంత వైభవంగా నిర్వహించబడుతుంది. ఒక మహాయజ్ఞం ముగిసిన తర్వాత చేసే అవభృథ స్నానంతో సమానమైన ఈ చక్రస్నానం సమయంలో పవిత్ర పుష్కరిణిలో స్నానం చేస్తే పాపాలు తొలగిపోతాయని భక్తులు విశ్వసిస్తారు. అనంతరం రాత్రి ధ్వజావరోహణంతో బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలు మంగళప్రదంగా ముగుస్తాయి.
ఈ మహోత్సవాల సందర్భంగా తిరుమల తిరుపతి దేవస్థానం భక్తుల కోసం విస్తృత ఏర్పాట్లు చేసింది. ఎండ తీవ్రతను దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకుని క్యూలైన్లలో చలువ పందిళ్లు, తాగునీటి సౌకర్యం, అన్నప్రసాద వితరణ నిరంతరాయంగా కొనసాగించే ఏర్పాట్లు చేపట్టింది. అదేవిధంగా హిందూ ధర్మప్రచార పరిషత్, అన్నమాచార్య ప్రాజెక్టుల ఆధ్వర్యంలో ప్రతిరోజూ భక్తి సంగీతం, హరికథలు, కోలాటాలు మరియు ఆధ్యాత్మిక సాంస్కృతిక కార్యక్రమాలు నిర్వహించబడుతున్నాయి.

🍀 Gayatri worship (Gayatri Upasana) possesses immeasurable spiritual glory. Through it, both householders and great saints can attain elevated states of consciousness and inner transformation. 🍀

Swami Magananand Ji (Kunwar Virendra Singh Ji, Kota)
Shri Swami Magananand Ji Maharaj renounced worldly life at a very young age and embraced a life of renunciation and spiritual discipline. He lived for nearly 12–14 years in the regions extending from Kota to Khatoli and from Gwalior to Sheopur, where he eventually left his physical body. About seven miles from Khatoli lies a sacred place dedicated to Lord Shiva. Since the area was filled with Dhaukada trees, it came to be known as Dhaukadeshwar Mahadev. This place was completely isolated, and tigers and other wild animals commonly roamed the surrounding forests.
Swamiji often said, “This is a Siddha Peeth (a spiritually perfected place), and that is why I left Nashik and came here.” Even today, anyone over forty years of age in that region, upon hearing Swamiji’s name, becomes filled with devotion and reverence. It was widely known that he had attained spiritual perfection through Gayatri worship. Devotees and spiritually inclined people of the area continue to share many remarkable stories of his divine accomplishments.
A landlord from the Khatoli region was once involved in a land dispute that had ruined his financial condition. When the landlord approached the officer regarding his case, he was humiliated and thrown out of the office.
Filled with despair, the landlord wandered through Bharatpur until he happened to meet Swami Magananand Ji. Seeing his troubled condition, Swamiji asked him, “Are you hungry?” The man replied that he was. Swamiji then took a walnut from his sacred yogic fire (Dhuni) and gave it to him. Astonishingly, after eating that single walnut, his hunger was completely satisfied.
The landlord then shared his sorrows and difficulties with Swamiji. After listening calmly, Swamiji spoke with detachment and authority: “Tomorrow that agent himself will call you and give a judgment in your favor.” Exactly as predicted, the next day the officer personally summoned the landlord and ordered that his confiscated land be returned to him.
About a year later, Swamiji returned to the area. The grateful landlord welcomed him into his home with great devotion and served him for the rest of his life. Even today, the eternal sacred fire brought from Swamiji’s Dhuni continues to burn in their home, and they never allow it to be extinguished.
Another incident concerns my grandfather, who was a man of pure heart and deeply devoted to serving saints. He regularly remained in Swamiji’s service. One day, while he was going to visit Swamiji, my uncle—then a five-year-old child—unknowingly followed behind him. My grandfather was unaware that the child had come along.
On the way, they came across a river. My grandfather crossed it safely, but while trying to cross, my young uncle was swept away and began drowning in the middle of the river.
Even today, my uncle says, “While I was drowning, I felt as though a saintly figure held my hand and brought me safely out.” In this way, he survived. When my grandfather reached Swamiji, Swamiji immediately asked him in anger, “Why do you bring children with you?” Surprised, my grandfather replied, “I did not bring any child.”
A short while later, my uncle arrived and narrated what had happened. It became evident that Swamiji, through his subtle spiritual body, had protected the child from drowning.
There are many more such incidents associated with Swamiji, far too many to be fully described in a short article like this.
The greatness of Gayatri worship is beyond measure. Through it, both householders a nd saints can attain higher states of spiritual realization and inner awakening.

శ్రీ స్వామి మగనానంద్ జీ మహారాజ్ చిన్న వయస్సులోనే గృహత్యాగం చేసి వైరాగ్య జీవితం స్వీకరించారు. కోటా నుండి ఖతోలి, గ్వాలియర్ నుండి శ్యోపూర్ ప్రాంతంలో సుమారు 12–14 సంవత్సరాలు నివసించారు. అక్కడే ఆయన తన దేహాన్ని విడిచారు. ఖతోలి నుండి ఏడు మైళ్ల దూరంలో శంకరుని స్థలం ఉంది. అక్కడ ధౌకడే (ధౌకడా) చెట్లు విస్తారంగా ఉండటం వలన ఆ ప్రాంతం ధౌకడేశ్వర మహాదేవ్ పేరుతో ప్రసిద్ధి చెందింది. ఈ ప్రదేశం పూర్తిగా నిర్జనమైనది. సాధారణంగా పులులు మరియు ఇతర అడవి జంతువులు ఆ ప్రాంతంలో, దాని పరిసరాలలో సంచరిస్తూ ఉండేవి.
స్వామీజీ తరచుగా చెప్పేవారు — “ఇది ఒక సిద్ధపీఠం. అందువల్లనే నేను నాసిక్ను విడిచి ఇక్కడికి వచ్చాను.” ఈరోజు కూడా ఆ ప్రాంతంలో 40 సంవత్సరాల పైబడిన ఎవరితోనైనా స్వామీజీ గురించి మాట్లాడితే, ఆయన పేరు విన్న వెంటనే వారి హృదయం భక్తి భావంతో నిండిపోతుంది. ఆయన గాయత్రీ ఉపాసన ద్వారా సిద్ధస్థితిని పొందారని అందరికీ తెలిసిన విషయమే. ఆయన సిద్ధుల గురించి అక్కడి సత్సంగ ప్రియుల నోట ఎన్నో విశేష గాథలు వినవచ్చు.
ఖతోలి ప్రాంతంలోని ఒక జమీందారునికి తన స్థలానికి సంబంధించిన భూవివాదం నడుస్తోంది. ఆ కేసు కారణంగా అతని ఆర్థిక పరిస్థితి దారుణంగా మారింది. ఆ కాలంలో కోటాకు చెందిన పొలిటికల్ ఏజెంట్ కార్యాలయం భరత్పూర్లో ఉండేది. ఆ ఏజెంట్ అతనిని అవమానపరచి కార్యాలయం నుండి బయటకు పంపించాడు.
ఆ జమీందారు భరత్పూర్లో నిరాశతో తిరుగుతుండగా స్వామి మగనానంద్ జీ దర్శనం లభించింది. అతను బాధతో ఉండటం చూసి స్వామీజీ అడిగారు — “నీవు ఆకలిగా ఉన్నావా?” అతను అవునని చెప్పగా, స్వామీజీ తన ధూని (యోగాగ్ని) నుండి ఒక అక్రోటు (వాల్నట్) తీసి ఇచ్చారు. ఆశ్చర్యకరంగా ఆ ఒక్క అక్రోటుతోనే అతని ఆకలి పూర్తిగా తీరిపోయింది.
ఆ తర్వాత తన బాధల కథను స్వామీజీకి చెప్పాడు. అది విన్న స్వామీజీ గంభీరంగా, నిర్లిప్తంగా ఇలా అన్నారు — “రేపు ఆ ఏజెంట్ నిన్ను స్వయంగా పిలిచి నీకు అనుకూలంగా తీర్పు ఇస్తాడు.” అదే విధంగా జరిగింది. మరుసటి రోజు ఆ ఏజెంట్ ఆ జమీందారుని స్వయంగా పిలిపించి, అతని స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్న భూమిని తిరిగి ఇవ్వమని ఆదేశించాడు.
సుమారు ఒక సంవత్సరం తరువాత స్వామీజీ మళ్లీ ఆ ప్రాంతానికి వచ్చారు. అప్పుడు ఆ జమీందారు ఎంతో భక్తితో ఆయనను తన ఇంటిలో ఉంచుకొని జీవితాంతం సేవ చేశాడు. నేటికీ వారి ఇంట్లో స్వామీజీ ధూని నుండి తీసుకొచ్చిన అఖండాగ్ని నిరంతరం వెలుగుతూ ఉంది. దానిని ఎప్పుడూ ఆరిపోనివ్వరు.
మరొక సంఘటన — నా నానాజీ ఎంతో నిర్మల హృదయం కలవారు, సాధుసేవలో నిమగ్నులై ఉండేవారు. ఆయన తరచుగా స్వామీజీ సేవలో ఉండేవారు. ఒక రోజు నానాజీ స్వామీజీ వద్దకు వెళ్తుండగా, తెలియకుండా నా మామయ్య (అప్పుడు ఐదేళ్ల బాలుడు) ఆయన వెనుక వచ్చాడు. నానాజీకి అది తెలియలేదు. మధ్యలో ఒక నది వచ్చింది. నానాజీ నదిని దాటారు. కానీ మామయ్య దాటే ప్రయత్నంలో మధ్యలో మునిగిపోయాడు.
మామయ్య ఇప్పటికీ చెబుతుంటారు — “నేను మునిగిపోయినప్పుడు, ఒక మహాత్ముడు నా చేయి పట్టుకుని నన్ను బయటకు తీసుకువస్తున్నట్లు అనిపించింది.” ఆ విధంగా ఆయన ప్రాణాలతో బయటపడ్డారు. నానాజీ స్వామీజీ వద్దకు చేరుకున్నప్పుడు, స్వామీజీ కోపంగా అడిగారు — "పిల్లలను వెంట ఎందుకు తీసుకొస్తావు?" నానాజీ ఆశ్చర్యపడి — “నేను తీసుకురాలేదు” అన్నారు.
కొద్దిసేపటికి మామయ్య అక్కడికి వచ్చి, తాను మునిగిన సంఘటన వివరించారు. వాస్తవానికి స్వామీజీ సూక్ష్మశరీరమే ఆయనను మునిగిపోకుండా రక్షించింది. ఇలాంటి ఎన్నో సంఘటనలు ఉన్నాయి. వాటిని ఈ చిన్న వ్యాసంలో వివరించడం సాధ్యం కాదు.

In the Indian Sanatana Dharma, rivers are not regarded merely as flowing bodies of water; they are considered manifestations of divine energy and embodiments of sacred consciousness. While the River Ganga symbolizes purity and Yamuna represents devotion, the River Saraswati is revered as the embodiment of knowledge, wisdom, eloquence, and spiritual awareness. The Saraswati Anthya Pushkaralu at Kaleshwaram Triveni Sangamam in Telangana have commenced and will be observed for 12 sacred days, from May 21 to June 1. Due to the transit of Jupiter into Gemini (Mithuna Rashi), these Anthya Pushkaralu have gained special spiritual significance.
The origin of Pushkaralu is rooted in ancient mythology. According to the Puranas, a divine being named Pushkara received a sacred boon from Lord Brahma. It is believed that whenever Jupiter enters a new zodiac sign, Pushkara enters the river associated with that sign. During this period, the waters of that river are said to become spiritually energized, and taking a holy dip is believed to wash away sins accumulated over many lifetimes. The first twelve days of the Pushkaram period are called Adi Pushkaralu, while the last twelve days are known as Anthya Pushkaralu. Devotees believe that divine grace becomes especially intense during Anthya Pushkaralu.
The significance of the Saraswati River is even more extraordinary. In the Vedas, Saraswati is praised as "Nadinam Mata" — “Mother of Rivers.” She is worshipped not merely as a river but as the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. According to mythology, Goddess Saraswati flowed upon Earth as a divine stream of consciousness, spreading enlightenment among humanity. Over time, it is believed that Saraswati became an underground or invisible river. Therefore, she is often referred to as Antharvahini Saraswati — the hidden or subterranean Saraswati.
The sacred region of Kaleshwaram in Telangana holds immense spiritual importance in this context. It is believed that the rivers Godavari, Pranahita, and the invisible Saraswati merge here, forming the holy Triveni Sangamam. Just as Prayagraj Triveni Sangam in North India is considered highly sacred, Kaleshwaram Triveni Sangamam is regarded with equal spiritual reverence in South India. Scriptures mention that bathing in these sacred waters purifies not only the body but also the mind, speech, and intellect.
Another fascinating aspect found in mythology is that Goddess Saraswati is the presiding deity of speech and expression. Human thought, wisdom, education, and arts are believed to flourish through her blessings. Therefore, students, writers, teachers, and artists perform special prayers during Saraswati Pushkaralu. Chanting Saraswati Stotras, worshipping Lord Hayagriva, engaging in spiritual practices in this period are believed to grant exceptional spiritual benefits.
During this 12-day spiritual program, sacred Homams will be performed daily: Maha Ganapati Homam on the 21st, Subrahmanya Shadakshari Homam on the 22nd, Hayagriva Homam on the 23rd, Navagraha Homam on the 24th, Maha Mrityunjaya Homam on the 25th, Durga Sukta Homam on the 26th, Maha Sudarshana Homam on the 27th, Veda Dakshinamurthy Homam on the 28th, Swayamvara Parvathi Homam on the 29th, Dhanvantari Homam on the 30th, and Maha Rudra Homam on the 31st. Concludes on the 1st with the Laghu Chandi Maha Purnahuti.
Saraswati Anthya Pushkaralu convey a profound message — true knowledge is not confined merely to books; it resides in purity of mind, inner peace, and remembrance of the Divine. While sacred waters cleanse the body, divine contemplation purifies the mind and soul. This is why Indian culture views this sacred period not simply as a festival, but as a form of spiritual rebirth.

భారతీయ సనాతన ధర్మంలో నదులు కేవలం జలప్రవాహాలు మాత్రమే కావు; అవి దివ్యశక్తుల రూపాలు, దేవతా చైతన్యాల ప్రతిరూపాలు. గంగా పవిత్రతకు, యమునా భక్తికి ప్రతీకలైతే, సరస్వతి నది జ్ఞానం, వాక్పటిమ, ఆధ్యాత్మిక చైతన్యానికి ప్రతీకగా భావించబడింది. ప్రస్తుతం తెలంగాణలోని కాళేశ్వరం త్రివేణి సంగమంలో సరస్వతి అంత్య పుష్కరాలు నేటి నుండి ప్రారంభమై 12 రోజుల పాటు జరగనున్నాయి. మే 21 నుండి జూన్ 1 వరకు ఈ మహోత్సవాలు కొనసాగనున్నాయి. గురుగ్రహం మిథునరాశిలో సంచారం కారణంగా ఈ అంత్య పుష్కరాలకు విశేష ప్రాధాన్యత ఏర్పడింది.
పుష్కరాల మూలం పౌరాణిక కథలలో ఉంది. పురాణాల ప్రకారం "పుష్కరుడు" అనే దివ్యశక్తి బ్రహ్మదేవుని వరం పొందాడు. గురుగ్రహం ఒక రాశి నుంచి మరొక రాశిలోకి ప్రవేశించినప్పుడు ఆ రాశికి సంబంధించిన నదిలో పుష్కరుడు ప్రవేశిస్తాడని విశ్వాసం. ఆ సమయంలో ఆ నదిలోని జలాలు దివ్యశక్తిని సంతరించుకుంటాయని, పుణ్యస్నానం చేస్తే అనేక జన్మల పాపాలు నశిస్తాయని పురాణాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. పుష్కరాల మొదటి 12 రోజులను "ఆది పుష్కరాలు", చివరి 12 రోజులను "అంత్య పుష్కరాలు" అంటారు. అంత్య పుష్కరాలలో దైవ అనుగ్రహం మరింత గాఢంగా ఉంటుందని భక్తుల విశ్వాసం.
సరస్వతి నది విశేషత మరింత అద్భుతమైనది. వేదాలలో సరస్వతి నదిని "నదీనాం మాతా" — నదుల తల్లి అని వర్ణించారు. ఆమెను కేవలం ఒక నదిగా కాకుండా, జ్ఞానదేవతగా ఆరాధించారు. పురాణాల ప్రకారం సరస్వతి దేవి తన దివ్యశక్తిని భూమిపై ప్రవహింపజేసి మానవులకు జ్ఞానప్రకాశాన్ని అందించిందని చెబుతారు. కాలక్రమేణా సరస్వతి భూమిలో అంతర్వాహినిగా మారిందని విశ్వాసం. అందువల్ల సరస్వతిని "అంతర్వాహిని సరస్వతి" అని పిలుస్తారు.
తెలంగాణలోని కాళేశ్వరం క్షేత్రం ఈ సందర్భంలో ప్రత్యేకమైన మహిమాన్విత స్థలం. ఇక్కడ గోదావరి, ప్రాణహిత మరియు అంతర్వాహిని సరస్వతి నదులు కలుస్తాయని విశ్వాసం ఉంది. అందుకే దీనిని త్రివేణి సంగమం అంటారు. ఉత్తర భారతదేశంలోని ప్రయాగరాజ్ త్రివేణి సంగమానికి ఎంత ప్రాధాన్యత ఉందో, దక్షిణ భారతదేశంలో కాళేశ్వరం త్రివేణి సంగమానికి అంతే ఆధ్యాత్మిక ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉందని భావిస్తారు. ఈ పవిత్ర సంగమంలో స్నానం చేయడం ద్వారా మనస్సు, వాక్కు, బుద్ధి శుద్ధి చెందుతాయని శాస్త్రాలు పేర్కొంటాయి.
పురాణాలలో మరో విశేషం ఏమిటంటే సరస్వతి దేవి వాక్కుకు అధిష్ఠాత్రి దేవత. మనిషి ఆలోచన, జ్ఞానం, విద్య, కళలు అన్నీ ఆమె అనుగ్రహంతోనే లభిస్తాయని నమ్మకం. అందువల్ల సరస్వతి పుష్కరాలలో విద్యార్థులు, రచయితలు, కళాకారులు, ఉపాధ్యాయులు ప్రత్యేకంగా పూజలు చేయడం ఆనవాయితీ. ఈ కాలంలో సరస్వతి స్తోత్రాలు, హయగ్రీవ ఆరాధన, వేదపఠనం, జపాలు చేయడం విశేష ఫలితాలను ఇస్తుందని విశ్వసిస్తారు.
అంత్య పుష్కరాల సమయంలో పితృకర్మలకు కూడా విశేష ప్రాధాన్యత ఉంది. పురాణాల ప్రకారం త్రివేణి సంగమంలో పితృతర్పణాలు చేస్తే పితృదేవతలు సంతృప్తి చెంది వారి ఆశీస్సులు లభిస్తాయని నమ్ముతారు. పితృదోష నివారణ, కుటుంబ శాంతి, సంతానాభివృద్ధి, జ్ఞానవృద్ధి కోసం భక్తులు ఈ పుణ్యకాలాన్ని ఉపయోగించుకుంటారు.
ఈ 12 రోజుల పాటు కాళేశ్వరం క్షేత్రంలో అనేక హోమాలు, వేదపారాయణాలు, మహాపూజలు నిర్వహించ బడతాయి. మొదటిరోజు 21వ తేదీ గురువారం రోజున మహా గణపతి హోమం ఉంటుంది. 22వ తేదీన సుబ్రహ్మణ్య షాడాక్షరీ హోమం, 23వ తేదీన హయగ్రీవ హోమం, 24వ తేదీన నవగ్రహ హోమం, 25వ తేదీన మహా మృత్యుజయ హోమం, 26వ తేదీన దుర్గా సూక్త హోమం, 27వ తేదీన మహా సుదర్శన హోమం, 28వేద దక్షిణామూర్తి హోమం, 29వ తేదీన స్వయంవర పార్వతి హోమం, 30వ తేదీన ధన్వంతరి హోమం, 31వ మహారుద్ర హోమం, 01వ తేదీన లఘు చండీ మహా పూర్ణాహుతి ఉంటుంది.

In Sanatana Dharma, Lord Ganesha is not merely the deity who removes obstacles; He is the symbol of supreme wisdom, discrimination, the power of beginnings, spiritual awakening, and universal balance. That is why every auspicious undertaking, sacrifice, educational pursuit, or spiritual practice traditionally begins with worship of Lord Ganesha, who is revered as the “First Worshipped One.” Scriptures explain that endeavors initiated without His blessings may encounter difficulties and interruptions along the way.
The divine form of Lord Ganesha contains profound symbolism and hidden spiritual meanings. Although His elephant-headed appearance may seem unusual outwardly, it carries an extraordinary spiritual message within. The elephant head symbolizes immense intelligence, broad vision, and unwavering stability. His large ears signify the virtue of listening carefully, His small eyes represent concentration and focus, and His curved trunk reflects the ability to adapt according to circumstances. Through these characteristics, a divine lesson is conveyed—that success in life comes when one cultivates these qualities within oneself.
Lord Ganesha’s four-armed form also represents deeper spiritual truths. The noose (Pasha) held in His hand symbolizes attachment, ego, and ignorance that bind human beings. The goad (Ankusha) signifies the power to guide and control the restless mind. The Modaka symbolizes the bliss attained through spiritual wisdom, while the divine writing instrument represents knowledge, literature, and learning. According to sacred tradition, it was Lord Ganesha who served as the divine scribe for Sage Vyasa while composing the epic Mahabharata.
The universe functions through the eternal processes of creation, preservation, and dissolution, and many spiritual and tantric scriptures describe the principle of Ganesha as the force maintaining harmony among these cosmic functions. His divine presence is considered a spiritual energy capable of bringing balance not only to the obstacles within an individual’s life but also to the larger movements of universal existence.
From a spiritual perspective, yogic scriptures describe Lord Ganesha as the presiding deity of the Muladhara Chakra, the root energy center. The Muladhara Chakra represents stability, security, and the foundation of life itself. When this chakra remains balanced, qualities such as courage, steadiness, wisdom, and creativity naturally arise within an individual. Therefore, the worship of Lord Ganesha is not merely an act of devotion but also a consciousness journey.
Another important aspect of Lord Ganesha is His association with Riddhi and Siddhi. Riddhi represents prosperity, growth, and well-being, while Siddhi symbolizes spiritual accomplishment and the power to attain success.
Every challenge encountered in life appears as an obstacle. However, Sanatana Dharma teaches that behind every obstacle lies a lesson waiting to be understood. The wisdom to recognize that lesson, the courage to overcome it, and the strength to grow through it are all gifts bestowed by Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Therefore, devotees chant the sacred mantra “Om Gam Ganapataye Namah” while praying for the removal of fears, doubts, and ignorance hidden within the depths of their hearts.
Seeking refuge in Lord Ganesha is not merely an act of worship toward a deity; it is a journey toward removing inner instability and opening the doors to wisdom, steadiness, and divine consciousness. Wherever His grace is present, obstacles disappear, knowledge blossoms, and life becomes filled with prosperity and auspiciousness. He is the embodiment of supreme intelligence, the source of cosmic consciousness, and the eternal divine guide for all beings.

This day is governed by Mars (Angaraka, Kuja, or Mangala). The word "Mangala" means auspiciousness, goodness, and success. Angaraka is regarded as the symbol of courage, valor, strength, determination, and accomplishment. Therefore, Tuesday is considered a special day for awakening physical, mental, and spiritual energies.
The name "Tuesday" in this context is connected with Mangala or Angaraka (Mars). In Vedic astrology, Angaraka is called Bhoomi Putra (Son of Mother Earth). According to Puranic traditions, he is described as a divine force born through the blessings of Mother Earth and Lord Shiva. Angaraka predominantly embodies the element of fire. The fire element symbolizes life force, power of action, and transformational energy. Hence, Tuesday is regarded as a day that removes laziness, inertia, and discouragement, motivating people toward action and achievement.

Traditional belief says that chanting Mangal Gayatri on Tuesdays enhances determination and willpower. In modern life, many people have goals but often lack the strong resolve needed to achieve them. This mantra is believed to stabilize the mind and improve focus on one’s objectives. In Sanatana Dharma, timekeeping has immense significance. Ancient Indian sages did not view time merely as days, months, and years; they developed a highly refined system based on the cycles of nature, the movements of the Sun and Moon, and celestial patterns. One unique aspect of this remarkable spiritual and astronomical system is “Adhika Maasa” (the extra lunar month). It is also commonly known as Mala Maasa or Purushottama Maasa, and it carries special spiritual significance.
According to ancient astrological scriptures such as Surya Siddhanta and Siddhanta Shiromani, if there is no Surya Sankranti (solar transition into a new zodiac sign) during a lunar month, that month is designated as Adhika Maasa. Normally, a lunar month extends from one Amavasya (New Moon) to the next, or from one Purnima (Full Moon) to the next. If the Sun does not enter a new zodiac sign during that period, the month is considered an extra or intercalary month.
There is also a scientific basis behind this concept. A solar year consists of approximately 365 days, while a lunar year contains around 354 days. This creates a difference of nearly 11 days between the two systems. If left uncorrected, this gap would gradually disturb the alignment of seasons, festivals, and lunar months. To resolve this discrepancy, Indian sages established a system of adding one extra month approximately once every 32 months. This is a remarkable example of the harmony between astronomy and spirituality.
Adhika Maasa can occur in any month. Therefore, in different years, we see names such as Adhika Ashadha, Adhika Shravana, or Adhika Jyeshtha. This time, it is Adhika Jyeshtha Maasa, which will continue from May 17, 2026, to June 15, 2026. In the Vaishnava tradition, it is especially called Purushottama Maasa. “Purushottama” refers to Lord Sri Maha Vishnu, and according to the Puranas, this month is considered especially dear to Him.
Great importance is given to spiritual practices during this month. Scriptures explain that performing holy baths, chanting (Japa), meditation, charity, fasting, worship of Lord Vishnu, and devotion to Lord Krishna during this period helps in the removal of sins, relief from poverty, attainment of mental peace, and spiritual merit. In particular, reading the Purushottama Mahatmya is considered highly auspicious. Practices such as reading the Bhagavad Gita, reciting Vishnu Sahasranama, and remembering the divine names of Lord Narayana are also believed to bring immense spiritual benefits.
This month also encourages observances such as Nakta Vrata (fasting during the day and eating only at night) and Eka Bhukta (eating only one meal a day). Such practices are believed to cultivate self-control and mental purification. Scriptures further state that at the end of Adhika Maasa, donating ghee, jaggery, grains, clothes, and food brings great spiritual merit.
However, certain activities are traditionally avoided during this month. Auspicious ceremonies such as marriages, sacred thread ceremonies (Upanayanam), housewarming ceremonies, deity consecrations, purchasing new vehicles or land, and starting new businesses are generally not performed. Similarly, buying new ornaments, wearing new clothes for special occasions, and conducting major ritual completions or Yajnas are also often avoided.
At the same time, Adhika Maasa should not be regarded as an inauspicious period. It is not an unlucky month, but rather a sacred period dedicated to inner spiritual growth and self-purification. Ultimately, Adhika Maasa conveys a profound message: there are times in life meant not for external achievements, but for inner cleansing, divine contemplation, and spiritual growth. Scriptures declare that those who observe this sacred month with devotion and faith receive the blessings of peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment through the grace of Lord Purushottama.

సనాతన ధర్మంలో కాలగణనకు అత్యంత ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉంది. భారతీయ ఋషులు కాలాన్ని కేవలం రోజులు, నెలలు, సంవత్సరాలుగా మాత్రమే చూడలేదు; ప్రకృతి చక్రాలు, సూర్యుడు, చంద్రుడు మరియు ఖగోళ గమనాలను ఆధారంగా తీసుకొని అత్యంత సూక్ష్మమైన విధానాన్ని రూపొందించారు. అలాంటి అద్భుతమైన ఖగోళ-ఆధ్యాత్మిక వ్యవస్థలో ఒక ప్రత్యేక అంశమే “అధిక మాసం”. సాధారణంగా ప్రజలలో దీనిని మలమాసం లేదా పురుషోత్తమ మాసం అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. ఈ మాసానికి ప్రత్యేకమైన ఆధ్యాత్మిక ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉంది.
సూర్యసిద్ధాంతం, సిద్ధాంత శిరోమణి వంటి ప్రాచీన జ్యోతిష గ్రంథాల ప్రకారం, ఏ చాంద్రమాసంలో సూర్య సంక్రాంతి జరగకపోతే ఆ మాసాన్ని అధికమాసంగా నిర్ణయిస్తారు. సాధారణంగా ఒక చాంద్రమాసం ఒక అమావాస్య నుండి మరొక అమావాస్య వరకు లేదా ఒక పౌర్ణమి నుండి మరొక పౌర్ణమి వరకు ఉంటుంది. అయితే ఆ కాలవ్యవధిలో సూర్యుడు ఒక రాశి నుండి మరొక రాశికి ప్రవేశించకపోతే, ఆ నెల అదనపు నెలగా పరిగణించ బడుతుంది.
దీనికి వెనుక శాస్త్రీయ కారణం కూడా ఉంది. సౌర సంవత్సరం సుమారు 365 రోజులు, అయితే చాంద్ర సంవత్సరం సుమారు 354 రోజులు మాత్రమే ఉంటుంది. అంటే రెండు వ్యవస్థల మధ్య సుమారు 11 రోజుల వ్యత్యాసం ఏర్పడుతుంది. ఈ వ్యత్యాసం సంవత్సరాలుగా పెరుగుతూ పోతే ఋతువులు, పండుగలు, మాసాలు అన్నీ అసమతుల్యమవుతాయి. ఈ సమస్యను నివారించేందుకు భారతీయ ఋషులు సుమారు ప్రతి 32 నెలలకొకసారి ఒక అదనపు మాసాన్ని చేర్చే విధానాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ఇది ఖగోళ విజ్ఞానం మరియు ఆధ్యాత్మిక పరంపర కలయికకు గొప్ప ఉదాహరణ.
అధికమాసం ఏ నెలకైనా రావచ్చు. అందువల్ల కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలలో అధిక ఆషాఢం, అధిక శ్రావణం, అధిక జ్యేష్ఠం వంటి పేర్లు కనిపిస్తాయి. ఈసారి వచ్చినది అధిక జ్యేష్ఠమాసం. ఈ అధిక జ్యేష్ఠ మాసం 2026 మే 17 నుంచి జూన్ 15 వరకు కొనసాగుతుంది. వైష్ణవ సంప్రదాయంలో దీనిని ప్రత్యేకంగా “పురుషోత్తమ మాసం” అని పిలుస్తారు. “పురుషోత్తముడు” అనగా భగవాన్ శ్రీమహావిష్ణువు. పురాణాల ప్రకారం ఈ మాసం విష్ణుమూర్తికి అత్యంత ప్రీతికరమైనది.
ఈ మాసంలో ఆధ్యాత్మిక సాధనలకు ఎంతో ప్రాధాన్యం ఇవ్వబడింది. ఈ కాలంలో భక్తితో పవిత్ర స్నానం, జపం, ధ్యానం, దానం, ఉపవాసం, విష్ణుపూజ, శ్రీకృష్ణారాధన చేస్తే పాపక్షయం, దారిద్ర్య నివారణ, మనశ్శాంతి మరియు పుణ్యఫలాలు లభిస్తాయని పురాణాలు వివరిస్తున్నాయి. ముఖ్యంగా పురుషోత్తమ మహాత్మ్యం పఠనం అత్యంత పుణ్యప్రదమైనదిగా భావించబడింది. భగవద్గీత పఠనం, విష్ణు సహస్రనామ పారాయణం, శ్రీమన్నారాయణుని నామస్మరణ వంటి ఆచారాలు కూడా ఈ కాలంలో విశేష ఫలితాన్ని ఇస్తాయని నమ్మకం.
అలాగే ఈ మాసంలో నక్తవ్రతం (పగలు ఉపవాసం ఉండి రాత్రి భోజనం చేయడం), ఒక భుక్తం (రోజుకు ఒకసారి మాత్రమే భోజనం చేయడం) వంటి నియమాలను పాటించడం ద్వారా ఇంద్రియనిగ్రహం, మానసిక శుద్ధి కలుగుతాయని భావిస్తారు. అధికమాసం చివరిలో నెయ్యి, బెల్లం, ధాన్యాలు, వస్త్రాలు, అన్నదానం చేయడం ద్వారా విశేష పుణ్యఫలితాలు లభిస్తాయని శాస్త్రాలు పేర్కొంటున్నాయి.
అయితే ఈ మాసంలో కొన్ని కార్యక్రమాలు వర్జ్యంగా కూడా చెప్పబడ్డాయి. ముఖ్యంగా వివాహాలు, ఉపనయనాలు, గృహప్రవేశాలు, దేవతా ప్రతిష్ఠలు, కొత్త వాహనాలు లేదా భూమి కొనుగోలు, కొత్త వ్యాపార ప్రారంభాలు వంటి శుభకార్యాలను చేయరాదని సంప్రదాయం చెబుతోంది. అలాగే కొత్త ఆభరణాలు కొనడం, కొత్త వస్త్రధారణతో ప్రత్యేక శుభకార్యాలు నిర్వహించడం, వ్రతోద్యాపనలు మరియు యజ్ఞాలు కూడా సాధారణంగా నివారించాలని సూచిస్తారు.
అయితే దీనిని అపశకున కాలంగా భావించరాదు. అధికమాసం అశుభ మాసం కాదు; ఇది ఆధ్యాత్మిక పురోగతికి అంకితమైన పవిత్ర కాలం. నిత్యపూజలు, నిత్యకర్మలు, సంధ్యావందనం, దైవస్మరణ వంటి దైనందిన కర్మలు యథావిధిగా కొనసాగించవచ్చు. ఈ మాసం భౌతిక కార్యక్రమాల కంటే అంతర్ముఖ సాధనకు ఎక్కువ ప్రాధాన్యం ఇవ్వాలని సూచిస్తుంది.
అందువల్ల అధికమాసం మనకు ఒక గొప్ప సందేశాన్ని ఇస్తుంది. జీవితంలో కొన్ని సమయాలు బాహ్య సాధనల కోసం కాకుండా, అంతర్గత శుద్ధి, దైవచింతన, ఆధ్యాత్మిక వికాసం కోసం వినియోగించుకోవాలని. పురుషోత్తముని కృపతో ఈ పవిత్ర మాసాన్ని భక్తితో ఆచరించిన వారికి శాంతి, సౌభాగ్యం మరియు ఆధ్యాత్మిక అభివృద్ధి లభిస్తాయని శాస్త్రాలు చెబుతున్నాయి.

కోణార్క సూర్యదేవాలయం కథను ప్రధానంగా రెండు కోణాల్లో చూడవచ్చు – ఒకటి పౌరాణిక విశ్వాసం, మరొకటి చారిత్రక వాస్తవం. ఈ దేవాలయం కేవలం శిల్పకళా అద్భుతం మాత్రమే కాదు; భక్తి, త్యాగం, విజ్ఞానం, శాస్త్రీయ నైపుణ్యం కలయికగా నిలిచిన భారతీయ సంస్కృతికి ప్రతీకగా నిలుస్తుంది.
పురాణాల ప్రకారం, శ్రీకృష్ణుని కుమారుడు సామ్బుడు ఒక శాపం కారణంగా కుష్ఠు వ్యాధికి గురయ్యాడు. ఆ వ్యాధి నుండి విముక్తి పొందేందుకు నారద మహర్షి అతనికి సూర్యదేవుని ఆరాధన చేయమని సూచించాడు. దాంతో సామ్బుడు చంద్రభాగా నది తీరంలోని మిత్రవనంలో, ప్రస్తుత కోణార్క ప్రాంతంలో, పన్నెండు సంవత్సరాలు కఠిన తపస్సు చేశాడు. అతని భక్తికి సంతోషించిన సూర్యదేవుడు అతని వ్యాధిని నివారించాడని, కృతజ్ఞతగా సామ్బుడు అక్కడ సూర్యదేవునికి ఆలయం నిర్మించాడని విశ్వాసం ఉంది. “కోణార్క” అనే పదం కూడా “కోణ” (తీరం) మరియు “అర్క” (సూర్యుడు) అనే పదాల కలయికతో ఏర్పడిందని చెబుతారు.

కోణార్క దేవాలయం యొక్క అత్యంత విశేషమైన అంశం దాని నిర్మాణ శైలి. మొత్తం దేవాలయం సూర్యదేవుని రథం ఆకారంలో రూపుదిద్దుకుంది. ఇందులో ఉన్న ఏడు గుర్రాలు వారంలోని ఏడు రోజుల ప్రతీకగా భావించబడతాయి. అలాగే ఇరవై నాలుగు భారీ రాతి చక్రాలు రోజులోని ఇరవై నాలుగు గంటలకు లేదా సంవత్సరంలోని పన్నెండు నెలల ద్విపాక్షిక స్వరూపానికి సంకేతాలుగా చెప్పబడతాయి. ఈ చక్రాలు కేవలం శిల్పాలుగా కాకుండా, వాటిపై పడే నీడ ఆధారంగా సమయాన్ని ఖచ్చితంగా గుర్తించగలిగే సూర్య ఘడియారాలుగా కూడా పనిచేసేవి. ఇది ప్రాచీన భారతీయుల శాస్త్రీయ పరిజ్ఞానానికి అద్భుతమైన ఉదాహరణ.
ఈ దేవాలయం వెనుక ధర్మపదుడు అనే బాలుడి త్యాగగాథ కూడా ప్రజల హృదయాలను కదిలిస్తుంది. ప్రధాన శిల్పి బిసు మహారాణా ఆధ్వర్యంలో దేవాలయ నిర్మాణం దాదాపు పూర్తయింది. అయితే గర్భగుడి పైభాగంలోని కలశాన్ని అమర్చడంలో శిల్పులు విఫలమయ్యారు. ఉదయానికి పని పూర్తికాకపోతే 1200 మంది శిల్పులకు శిక్ష విధిస్తానని రాజు హెచ్చరించాడు. ఆ సమయంలో బిసు మహారాణా పన్నెండేళ్ల కుమారుడు ధర్మపదుడు అక్కడికి వచ్చి ఆ క్లిష్టమైన సమస్యను పరిష్కరించి కలశాన్ని విజయవంతంగా స్థాపించాడని చెబుతారు. అయితే ఒక చిన్న బాలుడు ఈ పనిని సాధించాడని రాజుకు తెలిసితే శిల్పులపై కోపం వస్తుందని భావించి, వారి ప్రాణాలను కాపాడేందుకు ధర్మపదుడు దేవాలయ శిఖరంపై నుంచి సముద్రంలోకి దూకి ప్రాణత్యాగం చేశాడని ప్రజాగాథ చెబుతుంది. ఈ కథ అతని త్యాగానికి చిరస్మరణీయ గుర్తుగా నిలిచింది.

The story of the Konark Sun Temple can be viewed from two perspectives – one rooted in mythology and the other in historical reality. This temple is not merely an architectural marvel; it stands as a symbol of Indian culture, representing a harmonious blend of devotion, sacrifice, knowledge, and scientific brilliance.
According to ancient legends, Samba, the son of Lord Krishna, was afflicted with leprosy due to a curse. To free himself from the disease, Sage Narada advised him to worship the Sun God. Following this guidance, Samba performed intense penance for twelve years at Mitravana on the banks of the Chandrabhaga River, in the region that is now Konark. Pleased with his devotion, the Sun God cured him of the disease. As an expression of gratitude, Samba is believed to have built a temple dedicated to Surya there. The name “Konark” itself is said to be derived from the words Kona (corner or coast) and Arka (Sun).
The magnificent temple visible today, however, was constructed in the 13th century, around 1250 CE, by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. Historical records suggest that the king commissioned this grand structure to commemorate his military victories and to express his deep devotion to the Sun God. Around 1,200 skilled artisans worked continuously for twelve years to create this monumental masterpiece.
One of the most extraordinary features of the Konark Temple is its architectural design. The entire structure was built in the form of the Sun God's celestial chariot. The seven horses symbolize the seven days of the week, while the twenty-four massive stone wheels represent either the twenty-four hours of the day or the twelve months of the year in dual phases. These wheels were not designed merely as decorative elements; they also functioned as sundials capable of accurately measuring time through the movement of shadows. This remarkable feature demonstrates the advanced scientific knowledge possessed by ancient Indian civilization.
Behind this grand temple lies the moving tale of a young boy named Dharmapada. Under the leadership of the chief architect Bisu Maharana, the temple construction was nearly complete. However, the artisans faced difficulty in installing the final crown stone at the top of the sanctum. The king declared that if the work was not completed by sunrise, all 1,200 craftsmen would face severe punishment. At that critical moment, Bisu Maharana’s twelve-year-old son Dharmapada arrived and successfully solved the complex engineering challenge, placing the crown stone perfectly. Yet, fearing that the king might become enraged upon learning that a mere child had accomplished what skilled artisans could not, Dharmapada is said to have sacrificed himself by leaping into the sea from the temple tower in order to save the lives of the craftsmen. This legendary story remains a lasting symbol of sacrifice.
Today, the Konark Temple no longer exists in its complete original form. The main sanctum has collapsed over time, and only the Jagamohana, or assembly hall, remains standing. Numerous mysteries and legends are associated with the temple. One famous story is the "magnetic mystery." It is believed that the main idol once floated in mid-air due to powerful magnets placed at the top and metallic structures beneath that created a balance. According to popular belief, Portuguese sailors removed these magnets because they interfered with their ship compasses, causing the structural balance of the temple to fail and eventually leading to its collapse. Some historians, however, attribute the temple's damage to attacks by the Muslim general Kalapahad during the 16th century.
Today, the Konark Sun Temple stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains a timeless testimony to India's scientific wisdom, artistic excellence, and spiritual heritage.

సనాతన ధర్మంలో “భూమాత” కేవలం మనం నివసించే గ్రహం మాత్రమే కాదు; ఆమె సర్వజీవరాశులను పోషించే జగజ్జనని, సహనానికి ప్రతిరూపం, అనంత కరుణాస్వరూపిణి. సమస్త జీవులను తన ఒడిలో ధరించి, వారి పాపాలు, బాధలు, అహంకారాలను నిశ్శబ్దంగా భరిస్తూ నిలిచే మహా తల్లి ధరణి దేవి. మనిషి ప్రతిరోజూ ఆమెపై నడుస్తాడు, ఆమె నుంచే అన్నం పొందుతాడు, ఆమె వాయువునే శ్వాసిస్తాడు; అయినప్పటికీ భూమాత యొక్క దివ్యత్వాన్ని పూర్తిగా గ్రహించలేడు. వేదాలు “భూమిరాపోఽనలో వాయుః ఖం…” అని ఈ పంచభూతాలలో భూమిని స్థిరత్వానికి, సహనానికి, జీవనాధారానికి మూలంగా పేర్కొన్నాయి.

భూమాత ధ్యానంలో అత్యంత గొప్ప తత్త్వం “సహనం”. మనుషులు ప్రకృతిని దెబ్బతీసినా, పాపాలు చేసినా, యుద్ధాలు సృష్టించినా, భూమాత మౌనంగా అన్నింటినీ భరిస్తూ మళ్లీ జీవాన్ని పునరుద్ధరిస్తుంది. ఈ గుణాన్ని ధ్యానించినవారిలో క్షమ, సమత్వం, దయ, సేవాభావం సహజంగా వికసిస్తాయి. ఆధ్యాత్మిక మార్గంలో వేగంగా ఎదగాలంటే మనస్సు స్థిరంగా ఉండాలి; భూమాత ఉపాసన ఆ స్థిరత్వాన్ని ప్రసాదిస్తుంది. అందుకే అనేక ఋషులు, యోగులు ధరణిని “ఆధ్యాత్మిక స్థైర్యానికి ఆధారం”గా వర్ణించారు.
ధరణి మాత యొక్క విశ్వరూప ధ్యానం కుండలినీ చైతన్యాన్ని కూడా మెల్లగా మేల్కొలుపుతుందని యోగశాస్త్రం పేర్కొంటుంది. భూమి తత్త్వం మూలాధార చక్రానికి సంబంధించినది. మూలాధారం స్థిరపడకపోతే ఉన్నత ఆధ్యాత్మిక అనుభూతులు స్థిరంగా నిలవవు. భూమాతను విశ్వమాతగా ధ్యానించడం ద్వారా సాధకునిలో భయం తగ్గి, అంతరంగంలో భద్రతాభావం పెరుగుతుంది. ఆ భద్రతే ధ్యానంలో లోతైన సమాధి స్థితులకు ద్వారం అవుతుంది.

In Sanatana Dharma, “Bhoomata” (Mother Earth) is not merely the planet on which we live; she is the Divine Mother who nourishes all living beings, the embodiment of patience, and the infinite form of compassion. Dharani Devi silently bears the sins, sufferings, and arrogance of humanity while lovingly holding all creatures in her nurturing lap. Every day, humans walk upon her, receive food from her, and breathe the air sustained by her, yet they rarely realize the true divinity of Mother Earth. The Vedas describe Earth among the Pancha Bhutas (five elements) as the very foundation of stability, endurance, and life itself.
Meditating upon the Virat Swaroop (cosmic form) of Dharani Mata is not an ordinary spiritual practice; it is a profound yogic sadhana that elevates human consciousness from individual limitations to universal awareness. When a seeker meditates upon the great Earth Mother radiating amidst infinite galaxies, lovingly embracing all forms of life within her cosmic presence, the narrow sense of “I” gradually dissolves. The seeker begins to experience oneself not merely as an individual, but as a living part of the vast universal consciousness.
One of the greatest spiritual teachings of Mother Earth is “forbearance.” Even when humanity harms nature, commits sins, and creates destruction through wars and greed, Mother Earth silently endures everything and continues to restore life again and again. In Sanatana Dharma, Lord Shani holds a highly significant position as the deity of justice. He is not merely regarded as a planetary deity but is also known as the “Karmaphala Data” — the giver of results according to one’s actions. Lord Shani carefully observes every good and bad deed performed by individuals and grants results accordingly. Therefore, he is not a symbol of fear, but rather a symbol of justice, truth, and righteousness.
Lord Shani teaches important values in life such as discipline, patience, hard work, and adherence to the path of Dharma. The challenges and difficulties that people face in life are often considered lessons that strengthen character and lead to maturity and wisdom. When Lord Shani bestows his blessings, a person can attain stability, success, honor, and spiritual growth.
Lord Shani is generally depicted in dark blue or black complexion and is often shown wearing black garments. According to scriptures, his vehicle is the crow or vulture. He is portrayed holding a staff, mace, or trident, representing his power to maintain justice and cosmic order.
The justice of Lord Shani is known to be strict yet completely impartial. Those who engage in wrongdoing and unrighteous actions may face the consequences of their deeds. On the other hand, people who follow truth, righteousness, and lead a life of integrity receive his special grace and protection.
To seek the blessings of Lord Shani, scriptures suggest observing fasts on Saturdays, donating black sesame seeds and mustard oil, lighting a lamp beneath a Peepal tree, and chanting the mantra “Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah.”

సనాతన ధర్మంలో “భూమాత” కేవలం మనం నివసించే గ్రహం మాత్రమే కాదు; ఆమె సర్వజీవరాశులను పోషించే జగజ్జనని, సహనానికి ప్రతిరూపం, అనంత కరుణాస్వరూపిణి. సమస్త జీవులను తన ఒడిలో ధరించి, వారి పాపాలు, బాధలు, అహంకారాలను నిశ్శబ్దంగా భరిస్తూ నిలిచే మహా తల్లి ధరణి దేవి. మనిషి ప్రతిరోజూ ఆమెపై నడుస్తాడు, ఆమె నుంచే అన్నం పొందుతాడు, ఆమె వాయువునే శ్వాసిస్తాడు; అయినప్పటికీ భూమాత యొక్క దివ్యత్వాన్ని పూర్తిగా గ్రహించలేడు. వేదాలు “భూమిరాపోఽనలో వాయుః ఖం…” అని ఈ పంచభూతాలలో భూమిని స్థిరత్వానికి, సహనానికి, జీవనాధారానికి మూలంగా పేర్కొన్నాయి.

భూమాత ధ్యానంలో అత్యంత గొప్ప తత్త్వం “సహనం”. మనుషులు ప్రకృతిని దెబ్బతీసినా, పాపాలు చేసినా, యుద్ధాలు సృష్టించినా, భూమాత మౌనంగా అన్నింటినీ భరిస్తూ మళ్లీ జీవాన్ని పునరుద్ధరిస్తుంది. ఈ గుణాన్ని ధ్యానించినవారిలో క్షమ, సమత్వం, దయ, సేవాభావం సహజంగా వికసిస్తాయి. ఆధ్యాత్మిక మార్గంలో వేగంగా ఎదగాలంటే మనస్సు స్థిరంగా ఉండాలి; భూమాత ఉపాసన ఆ స్థిరత్వాన్ని ప్రసాదిస్తుంది. అందుకే అనేక ఋషులు, యోగులు ధరణిని “ఆధ్యాత్మిక స్థైర్యానికి ఆధారం”గా వర్ణించారు.
ధరణి మాత యొక్క విశ్వరూప ధ్యానం కుండలినీ చైతన్యాన్ని కూడా మెల్లగా మేల్కొలుపుతుందని యోగశాస్త్రం పేర్కొంటుంది. భూమి తత్త్వం మూలాధార చక్రానికి సంబంధించినది. మూలాధారం స్థిరపడకపోతే ఉన్నత ఆధ్యాత్మిక అనుభూతులు స్థిరంగా నిలవవు. భూమాతను విశ్వమాతగా ధ్యానించడం ద్వారా సాధకునిలో భయం తగ్గి, అంతరంగంలో భద్రతాభావం పెరుగుతుంది. ఆ భద్రతే ధ్యానంలో లోతైన సమాధి స్థితులకు ద్వారం అవుతుంది.
