*తాత్పర్యము : మనోవాక్కాయములచే ఏ ప్రాణికిని హాని కలిగింపరాదు. సత్యమునే పలుకవలెను. దొంగతనముసకు పాల్పడరాదు. అవసరమునకు మించిన వస్తువులను సమకూర్చొనకూడదు. బ్రహ్మచర్యముసు పాటించవలెను. స్వధర్మాచరణమునకు ఎదురగు శ్రమలను ఓర్చుకొనవలెను. శరీరశుద్ధిని, అంతఃకరుణశుద్ధిని కలిగియుండవలెను. వేదశాస్త్రముల అధ్యయనమునందు ఏమఱుపాటు రానీయరాదు. భగవంతుని అర్చించుచుండవలెను.*
*వ్యాఖ్య : ఈ శ్లోకంలోని పురుషార్చనం అనే పదానికి పరమాత్మను పూజించడం అని అర్థం. బ్రహ్మచర్యం అంటే ఒక వ్యక్తి తన జీవితాన్ని కేవలం బ్రహ్మ సంబంధంతో నడిపించడం. అస్తేయం అనే పదం కూడా యోగికి చాలా ముఖ్యమైనది. అస్తేయం అంటే 'దొంగతనం మానుకోవడం'. విస్తృత కోణంలో, తనకు అవసరమైన దానికంటే ఎక్కువ పోగుచేసే ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ దొంగలే. ఆధ్యాత్మిక నియమాల ప్రకారం, ఒక వ్యక్తి తన వ్యక్తిగత నిర్వహణకు అవసరమైన దానికంటే ఎక్కువ కలిగి ఉండకూడదు. అది ప్రకృతి ధర్మం.*

*04. ahiṁsā satyam asteyaṁ yāvad-artha-parigrahaḥ*
*brahmacaryaṁ tapaḥ śaucaṁ svādhyāyaḥ puruṣārcanam*
*MEANING : One should practice nonviolence and truthfulness, should avoid thieving and be satisfied with possessing as much as he needs for his maintenance. He should abstain from sex life, perform austerity, be clean, study the Vedas and worship the supreme form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.*
*PURPORT : The word puruṣārcanam in this verse means worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Brahmacaryam means that one leads his life simply in relationship with Brahman. The word asteyam is also very important for a yogī. Asteyam means "to refrain from theft." In the broader sense, everyone who accumulates more than he needs is a thief. According to spiritual communism, one cannot possess more than he needs for his personal maintenance. That is the law of nature. Svādhyāyaḥ means "reading the authorized Vedic scriptures." Yogi must read standard Vedic literatures in order to understand. Performance of yoga alone is not sufficient.*
*All spiritual activities should be understood from three sources, namely saintly persons, standard scriptures and the spiritual master. These three guides are very important for progress in spiritual life. The spiritual master prescribes standard literature for the prosecution of the yoga of devotional service, and he himself speaks only from scriptural reference. Therefore reading standard scriptures is necessary for executing yoga. Practicing yoga without reading the standard literatures is simply a waste of time.*

ఆ మాయవిచే మోహితుడైన రాక్షసరాజు దీక్షను స్వీకరించిన పిదప ఆ మాయావి ఏమనెను? ఆ రాక్షసరాజు ఏమి చేసెను? (1).
సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను |
అరిహన్‌ అనబడే ఆ యతి ఆ రాక్షసరాజునకు దీక్షను ఇచ్చి, నారదుడు మొదలగు శిష్యులచే సేవింపబడే పాదపద్మములు గలవాడై ఆతనితో నిట్లనెను (2).
అరిహన్‌ ఇట్లు పలికెను -
రాక్షసరాజా! మంచి జ్ఞానముతో నిండిన నా వాక్యములను వినుము. వేదాంతము యొక్క సారసర్వస్వమనదగినది, రహస్యమైనది, ఉత్తమోత్తమైనది అగు వాక్యమును చెప్పెదను (3). ఈ సంసారము అనాదినుండియు నిత్యసిద్ధమై యున్నది. దీనికి కర్తలేడు. ఇది క్రియనుండి జన్మించినది కాదు. ఇది స్వయముగా ప్రకటమై స్వయముగనే లీనమగు చుండును (4). బ్రహ్మ మొదలు గడ్డిపోచ వరకు దేహములు ఏతీరున గలవో, ఆ దేహములే ఆత్మ. దేహమే ఈశ్వరుడు. దేహములను పాలించు ఈశ్వరుడు వేరుగా లేడు (5). బ్రహ్మ, విష్ణువు, రుద్రుడు అనునవి దేహము గల ప్రాణుల నామముల మాత్రమే. నాకు అరిహన్‌ అనియు, ఇతరులకు ఆయా నామములు ఉన్నవి గదా ! సర్వత్రా అటులనే యుండును (6).
మన దేహములు వాటి వాటి ఆయుర్దాయము పూర్తి అయిన పిదప నశించును గదా ! బ్రహ్మ మొదలు దోమ వరకు గల ప్రాణుల దేహములు కూడా అటులనే కొంతకాలము జీవించి నశించును (7). విచారణ చేసినచో సర్వప్రాణుల దేహముల యందు ఆహారము, మైథునము, నిద్ర, భయము అనునవి సమానముగ నున్నవి. ఇంతకు మించి దేహములో అధికముగా ఏదీ లేదు (8). సర్వప్రాణులు ఆహారమును భుజించు నప్పుడు మరియు నిద్రించునప్పుడు పొందే సంతృప్తి సమానముగా నుండును. హెచ్చుతగ్గులు ఉండవు (9). మనము దాహము వేసినప్పుడు నీటిని త్రాగి ఆనందించెదము. దప్పిక తీరును. ఇతర ప్రాణుల విషయములో కూడ నింతే. తేడా గాని, హెచ్చు తగ్గులు గాని లేవు (10).

Sanatkumāra said:—
2. After offering him initiation, the ascetic Arihan served by his disciples, Nārada and others, spoke to the ruler of the Asuras.
Arihan said:—
3. O ruler of the Asuras, listen to my statement, pregnant with wisdom. It is the essence of the Vedānta and bears high esoteric importance.
4. The entire universe is eternal. It has no creator nor it is an object of creation. It evolves itself and gets annihilated by itself.
5. There are many bodies from Brahmā down to a blade of grass. They themselves are the gods for them. There is no other God.
6. What we mean by Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Rudra are only the names of embodied beings just like my name Arihan etc.
7. Just as our bodies perish when their time arrives, so also the bodies of all beings from Brahmā to a mosquito perish when their time arrives.
8. When we consider, none of these bodies is superior to any other since in respect of taking food, copulation, sleep and fear these are invariably the same everywhere.
9. Taking in water and foodstuffs to the required quantity, all living beings derive a kindred satisfaction, neither more nor less.
10. After drinking water we are gladly relieved of thirst. Others too are equally relieved. There is no deviation this way or that.

It is the mind that is finding a rationalization so that you can avoid struggle. And of course, if you avoid effort, you will not make it, so you fall back on your decision. You say it was right, it was always right; you knew it beforehand. These are self-perpetuating things in the mind. They fulfill themselves, and the circle goes on moving, the wheel goes on moving.*
