సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను -

ఓ బ్రాహ్మణ శ్రేష్ఠా| మయుడు చేసిన ఈ స్తోత్రమును విని పరమేశ్వరుడు ప్రసన్నుడై ప్రేమతో మయుని ఉద్దేశంచి ఇట్లు పలికెను (10).


శివుడిట్లు పలికెను -

ఓ రాక్షసశ్రేష్ఠా! మయా! నేను ప్రసన్నుడనైతిని. నీ మనస్సునకు నచ్చిన వరమును కోరుకొనుము. నేను ఇచ్చెదను. సంశయము లేదు (11).


సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను -

రాక్షస శ్రేష్ఠుడగు ఆ మయుడు శంభుని ఈ మంగళకరమగు వచనమును విని చేతులు జోడించి ప్రభువునకు సాష్టాంగనమస్కారమును జేసి ఇట్లు బదులిడెను (12).


మయుడిట్లు పలికెను -

దేవ దేవా! మహాదేవా! నీవు నా యందు ప్రసన్నుడవైనచో, నేను వరమునకు అర్హుడనైనచో, నాకు నీయందు శాశ్వతభక్తి కలుగునట్లు అనుగ్రహించుము (13). నీ భక్తులతో నిత్యమైత్రిని, దీనుల యెడ సర్వదా దయాభావమును, ఇతరప్రాణులయందు దుష్ఠులయెడల ఉపేక్షాభావమును ఇమ్ము. ఓ పరమేశ్వరా! (14). నాకు ఎన్నటికి అసుర భావము కలుగకుండు గాక | ఓ మహేశ్వరా! నేనుసర్వదా మంగళకరమగు నీ భజన యందు నిమగ్నుడనై నిర్భయుడనై ఉండెదను గాక! (15).


సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను -

మయుడు ఇట్లు ప్రార్థించగా భక్తవత్సలుడు, పరమేశ్వరుడునగు శంకరుడు ప్రసన్నుడై అపుడు ఇట్లు బదులిడెను (16).


మహేశ్వరుడిట్లు పలికెను -

రాక్షసశ్రేష్ఠా! నా భక్తుడవగు నీవు ధన్యుడవు, నీ యందు వికారములు లేవు. నీవు ఇపుడు కోరిన వరములనన్నిటినీ నీకు ఇచ్చుచున్నాను (17). నీవు నా శాసనముచే నీ పరివారుముతో గూడి, స్వర్గము కంటె కూడా సుందరమైన వితలలోకమునకు వెళ్లుము (18). నీవు అచట నిర్భయముగా ఆనందముతో జీవించుము. సర్వదా భక్తిని కలిగియుండుము. నా ఆజ్ఞచే నీకు ఏనాడైననూ అసురబావము కలుగనుబోదు (19).

Sanatkumāra said:—

10. On hearing this eulogy of Maya, O excellent brahmin, lord Śiva, was delighted and he spoke to Maya eagerly.


Śiva said:—

11. O Maya, I am delighted. O excellent Asura speak out the boon you wish to have. There is no doubt. I shall grant you what you desire.


Sanatkumāra said:—

12. On hearing the auspicious words of Śiva, Maya the foremost among the Asuras spoke after bowing to the lord with stooping shoulders and palms joined in reverence.


Maya said:—

13. “O great lord, lord of the Gods, if you are delighted and if I deserve the grant of a boon please grant me parmanent devotion to you.

14. O supreme lord, grant me comradeship with your devotees for ever, compassion towards the distressed and indifference towards the wicked living beings.

15. O lord Śiva, let there be no demonaic instinct in me at any time. O lord, let me be fearless for ever engrossed in your auspicious worship.”


Sanatkumāra said:—

16. On being thus requested, Śiva the great lord, who is favourably disposed to his devotees and was in a delightful mood replied to Maya.


Lord Śiva said:—

17. O excellent Asuras you are my devotees and are blessed. You are free from aberrations. All the boons desired by you are granted now.

18. At my bidding, you go to the region Vitala,[1] more beautiful than heaven. Go in the company of your family and kinsmen.

19. You stay there without fear. Be devout always. At my bidding you will never have demonaic instinct.
