*44. tasmād imāṁ svāṁ prakṛtiṁ daivīṁ sad-asad-ātmikām*
*durvibhāvyāṁ parābhāvya svarūpeṇāvatiṣṭhate*
*MEANING : Thus the yogī can be in the self-realized position after conquering the insurmountable spell of māyā, who presents herself as both the cause and effect of this material manifestation and is therefore very difficult to understand.*
*PURPORT : It is stated in Bhagavad-gītā that the spell of māyā, which covers the knowledge of the living entity, is insurmountable. However, one who surrenders unto Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, can conquer this seemingly insurmountable spell of māyā. Here also it is stated that the daivī prakṛti, or the external energy of the Supreme Lord, is durvibhāvyā, very difficult to understand and very difficult to conquer. One must, however, conquer this insurmountable spell of māyā, and this is possible, by the grace of the Lord, when God reveals Himself to the surrendered soul. It is also stated here, svarūpeṇāvatiṣṭhate. Svarūpa means that one has to know that he is not the Supreme Soul, but rather, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul; that is self-realization. To think falsely that one is the Supreme Soul and that one is all-pervading is not svarūpa. This is not realization of his actual position. The real position is that one is part and parcel. It is recommended here that one remain in that position of actual self-realization. In Bhagavad-gītā this understanding is defined as Brahman realization. After Brahman realization, one can engage in the activities of Brahman. As long as one is not self-realized, he engages in activities based on false identification with the body. When one is situated in his real self, then the activities of Brahman realization begin.*

ఓయీ! నీవెవరిని? ఎచటనుండి వచ్చితివి? నీ పేరేమి? సత్యమును పలుకుము. శంబుడు తన ధామునందే ఉన్నాడా? లేక ఆ ప్రభుడు ఎచటి కైననూ వెళ్లియున్నాడా? (10)
సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను -
ఇంద్రుడిట్లు ప్రశ్నించగా ఆ తాపసుడు ఏమియూ పలుకలేదు. ఇంద్రుడు మరల ప్రశ్నించగా ఆ తాపసుడు సమాధానము నీయలేదు (11). లోకములకు ప్రభువగు ఇంద్రుడు మరల ప్రశ్నించెను. మహాయోగి, లీలచే వివిధరూపములను దరించువాడు అగు ఆ ప్రభుడు మిన్నకుండెను (12). ఈ విధముగా ఇంద్రుడు అనేక పర్యాయములు ప్రశ్నించెను. కాని దిగంబరుడగు ఆ భగవానుడు ఇంద్రుని జ్ఞానమును పరీక్షింప గోరి, ఏమియు పలుకలేదు (13). ముల్లోకముల ఐశ్వర్యముచే గర్వించియున్న దేవేంద్రుడు అపుడు కోపించి, ఆ జటాధారిని గద్దించి ఇట్లు పలికెను (14).
ఇంద్రుడిట్లు పలికెను -
ఓరీ! నేను ప్రశ్నించు చున్ననూ నీవు ఉత్తరము నీయకున్నావు. కావున నిన్ను వజ్ర ముతో సంహరించెదను. ఓరీ దుర్బుద్ధీ! నిన్ను కాపాడు వారెవరు గలరు? (15)
సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను -
వజ్రధారియగు ఇంద్రుడు ఇట్లు పలికి, ఆ దిగంబరుని కోపముతో చూచి ఆతనిని సంహరించుటకు వజ్రమును పైకి ఎత్తెను (16). ఇంద్రుడు వజ్రమును ఎత్తుటను గాంచి, సదా మంగళస్వరూపుడగు శంకరదేవుడు ఆ వజ్రపు దెబ్బను స్తంభింపజేసెను. (17). అపుడు రుద్రుడు క్రోధావేశమును పొంది, భయంకరమగు కన్నులు గలవాడై తేజస్సుతో దహించి వేయునా యన్నట్లు మండిపడెను (18).

11. O sage, on being asked by Indra thus, he did not say anything. Indra asked him again. But the naked person did not say anything.
12. Indra, the supreme lord of the worlds, asked again. The lord the great Yogin who assumes forms variously kept quiet.
13. The naked lord, though asked repeatedly by Indra, did not say anything, for he wanted to test the knowledge of Indra.
14. Then the lord of Gods, proud of the wealth of the three worlds, became enraged. Rebuking the lord with matted hair he spoke these words.
Indra said:—
15. “O evil-minded one, though asked you did not reply to me. Hence I am going to kill you with my thunderbolt. Who can save you?”
Sanatkumāra said:—
16. After saying this and looking at him ferociously Indra raised his thunderbolt in order to kill him.
17. On seeing Indra lifting up his thunderbolt, Śiva prevented the fall of the thunderbolt by making his hand benumbed.
