*అలబ్ధాభీప్సితోఽజ్ఞానాదిద్ధమన్యుః శుచార్పితః॥*

*తాత్పర్యము : ఈ విధముగా శిశువు శైశవ, పౌగండ వయస్సుల యందు కలిగెడి దుఃఖములను అనుభవించి, యౌవనదశకు చేరును. ఆ దశలో అభీష్టములు నెరవేరక, అతడు అజ్ఞాన వశమున అధికమైన కోపముతో శోకాకులుడు అగును.*

*28. ity evaṁ śaiśavaṁ bhuktvā duḥkhaṁ paugaṇḍam eva ca*

*alabdhābhīpsito 'jñānād iddha-manyuḥ śucārpitaḥ*

*MEANING : In this way, the child passes through his childhood, suffering different kinds of distress, and attains boyhood. In boyhood also he suffers pain over desires to get things he can never achieve. And thus, due to ignorance, he becomes angry and sorry.*

*PURPORT : From birth to the end of five years of age is called childhood. After five years up to the end of the fifteenth year is called paugaṇḍa. At sixteen years of age, youth begins. The distresses of childhood are already explained, but when the child attains boyhood he is enrolled in a school which he does not like. He wants to play, but he is forced to go to school and study and take responsibility for passing examinations. Another kind of distress is that he wants to get some things with which to play, but circumstances may be such that he is not able to attain them, and he thus becomes aggrieved and feels pain. In one word, he is unhappy, even in his boyhood, just as he was unhappy in his childhood, what to speak of youth. Boys are apt to create so many artificial demands for playing, and when they do not attain satisfaction they become furious with anger, and the result is suffering.*

*The life of a saint is a mystic Mahabharata itself. Every sage or saint has passed through all the stages of the Mahabharata conflict. No one lived as a great saint without passing through untold hardships, and no one ever left this world with the feeling that it is all milk and honey flowing. The truth of the world becomes evident to the eyes that are about to close to this world; the untutored mind takes it for what it is not. Hence, the glory of the royal coronation and success ended in untold grief, because of a negative aspect that was hidden in the joy of the coronation.*

*There was something lacking. It was a glory that was bestowed upon Yudhishthira by the power of people, like the ascent of a person to the throne of a ministry by the raising of hands of the vast public. But the hands can drop down tomorrow; they need not always be standing erect. There is always an unpredictable uncertainty about mob psychology, and therefore a dependent success cannot be called a success. If I have become great due to your goodness, that would not be real greatness, because your goodness can be withdrawn. If the greatness is at the mercy of another's opinion or power, it falls.*

*Śiva – Śiva; tulyo – similar; jāyate – becomes.*

*This sūtra conveys an important message. Such a yogi, at this stage has not merged with Śiva but appears like Śiva. The difference between merging with Śiva and appearing like Śiva is significant. Merger with Śiva happens only in the stage of kaivalya, the ultimate stage. Now, the yogi makes further spiritual progress and moves from turya to turyātīta, the fifth stage of consciousness. Turyātīta stage is beyond turya stage, where the first three stages of consciousness are totally dissolved.*

Similarly, he structured the Lord's message in eighteen chapters. It is proponed in Purusha suktam that eighteen tattvas in creation are divine, immortal, immanent and six tattvas are manifest. Sri Mata is the basis of this manifested and unmanifested creation. బ్రహ్మవిష్ణువులిట్లు పలికిరి- ఓ దేవదేవా! మహాదేవా! పరబ్రహ్మా! సర్వేశ్వరా! సత్త్వరజస్తమో గుణములకు అతీతమైనవాడా! ఆనందస్వరూపా! త్రిమూర్తుల తండ్రీ! ప్రభూ! (27). మేము నిన్ను శరణు పొందుచున్నాము. ఓ విభూ! పరమేశ్వరా! శంఖచూడునిచే పీడింపబడి క్లేశములను పొంది దుఃఖితులమై యున్నాము. సత్స్వరూపుడవగు నీవే మాకు నాథుడవు. మమ్ములను రక్షింపుము (28). ఇచటకు సమీపములో నున్న లోకమునకు గోలోకమని పేరు. దానికి శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుడు అధీశ్వరుడు. ఆయనకు నీవు ప్రభుడవు (29). శ్రీకృష్ణుని అనుంగు సహచరుడగు సుదాముడు దైవవశముచే రాధచే శపింపబడి శంఖచూడుడనే దానవుడైనాడు (30). ఓ శంభూ! ఆతడు దేవతలను పరిపరి విధముల బాధలకు గురిచేసి స్వర్గమునుండి వెళ్లగొట్టినాడు. తమ అధికారములను పోగొట్టుకొనిన దేవతలు భూలోకములో తిరుగాడుచున్నారు (31). ఆతనిని దేవతలందరిలో ఒక్క రైననూ సంహరింపజాలరు. నీవు మాత్రమే ఆతనిని సంహరించగలవు. ఓ మహేశ్వరా! నీవాతనిని వధించి లోకములకు సుఖమును కలుగజేయుము (32). నిర్గుణుడు, సత్యస్వరూపుడు, అనంతుడు, అంతములేని పరాక్రమము గలవాడు, సగుణుడు, సత్పురుషులకు ఆశ్రయమైనవాడు, ప్రకృతిపురుషులకు అతీతుడు అగు పరమాత్మ నీవే (33).

ఓ ప్రభూ! సృష్టి కాలములో నీవు రజోగుణప్రధానుడవై బ్రహ్మరూపములో సృష్టిని చేసెదవు. విష్ణురూపములో సత్త్వగుణప్రధానుడవై ముల్లోకములను రక్షించెదవు (34). తమో గుణప్రధానుడవై రుద్రరూపములో ప్రళయకాలము నందు జగత్తును నాశము చేసెదవు. త్రిగుణా తీతమగు తురీయ శుద్ధచైతన్య స్వరూపుడవై శివనామముతో ప్రసిద్ధిని గాంచి యున్నావు (35).

28. We have sought refuge in you. O lord, save us who are distressed. O lord Śiva, we are harassed by Śaṅkhacūḍa and so dejected and well nigh exhausted. Save us.

29. The region that is adjacent to this place is called Goloka, Lord Kṛṣṇa is its presiding deity.

30. One of his leading attendants and comrades, Sudāmā, cursed by Rādhā and led by fate, has become the Dānava Śaṅkhacūḍa.

31. O Śiva, the gods divested of all powers ousted and harassed by him roam over the Earth now.

32. Except by you he cannot be killed by any one of the gods. Please kill him and render the worlds happy.

33. You alone are devoid as well as possessed of attributes, truthful, of infinite valour, embedded in the good and greater than Prakṛti and Puruṣa.

34. At creation, O lord, you are Brahmā, the creator through Rajas. O protector of the three worlds, in the activity of protection through Sattva you are Viṣṇu.

35. In dissolution through Tamas you are Rudra the annihilator of the universe. In the state free from the three attributes you are Śiva the fourth one, of the form of brilliance.

🌷. తాత్పర్యం : నన్నే పరమగమ్యముగా చేసికొని భక్తియోగమను ఈ అమృతపథమును అనుసరించుచు శ్రద్ధతో దీని యందు సంపూర్ణముగా నియుక్తులైనవారు నాకు అత్యంత ప్రియులు.

🌷. భాష్యము : ఈ అధ్యాయపు రెండవ శ్లోకము “మయ్యావేశ్య మనో యే మాం” (మనస్సును నా యందే సంలగ్నము చేసి) నుండి చివరి ఈ శోకమైన “యే తు ధర్మామృతమిదం” (ఈ నిత్యసేవాధర్మము) వరకు శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుడు తనను చేరుటకు గల దివ్య సేవాపద్ధతులను వివరించెను. ఈ భక్తియుక్తసేవా కార్యములు శ్రీకృష్ణునకు అత్యంత ప్రియములై యున్నవి. వాని యందు నియుక్తుడైన మనుజుని అతడు ప్రేమతో అనుగ్రహించును.

నిరాకార బ్రహ్మ మార్గము నందు నిమగ్నుడైనవాడు ఉత్తముడా లేక పూర్ణపురుషోత్తముడగు భగవానుని ప్రత్యక్షసేవలో నియుక్తుడైనవాడు ఉత్తముడా అను ప్రశ్నను అర్జునుడు లేవదీసియుండెను. అర్జునుని అట్టి ప్రశ్నకు శ్రీకృష్ణుడు తన భక్తియుతసేవయే ఆత్మానుభవమునకు గల వివిధపద్ధతులలో అత్యంత శ్రేష్టమైనదనుటలో ఎట్టి సందేహము లేదని స్పష్టముగా సమాధానమొసగినాడు. అనగా సత్సంగము ద్వారా మనుజుడు శుద్ధ భక్తియోగము నెడ అభిరుచిని వృద్ధిచేసికొనుననియు, తద్ద్వారా అతడు ఆధ్యాత్మికగురువును స్వీకరించి ఆయన నుండి శ్రవణ, కీర్తనములను చేయుటను ఆరంభించి శ్రద్ధ, అనురాగము, భక్తిభావములతో భక్తియోగమందలి నియమనిబంధనలను పాటించుచు శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుని దివ్యసేవలో నియుక్తుడు కాగలడనియు ఈ అధ్యాయమున నిర్ణయింపబడినది.

శ్రీమద్భగవద్గీత యందలి “భక్తియోగము” అను ద్వాదశాధ్యాయమునకు భక్తివేదాంతభాష్యము సమాప్తము.

🌴 Chapter 12 - Devotional Service - 20 🌴

20. ye tu dharmāmṛtam idaṁ yathoktaṁ paryupāsate
śraddadhānā mat-paramā bhaktās te ’tīva me priyāḥ

🌷 Translation : Those who follow this imperishable path of devotional service and who completely engage themselves with faith, making Me the supreme goal, are very, very dear to Me.

🌹 Purport : In this chapter, from verse 2 through the end – from mayy āveśya mano ye mām (“fixing the mind on Me”) through ye tu dharmāmṛtam idam (“this religion of eternal engagement”) – the Supreme Lord has explained the processes of transcendental service for approaching Him. Such processes are very dear to the Lord, and He accepts a person engaged in them. The question of who is better – one who is engaged in the path of impersonal Brahman or one who is engaged in the personal service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead – was raised by Arjuna, and the Lord replied to him so explicitly that there is no doubt that devotional service to the Personality of Godhead is the best of all processes of spiritual realization.

In other words, in this chapter it is decided that through good association one develops attachment for pure devotional service and thereby accepts a bona fide spiritual master and from him begins to hear and chant and observe the regulative principles of devotional service with faith, attachment and devotion and thus becomes engaged in the transcendental service of the Lord. This path is recommended in this chapter; therefore there is no doubt that devotional service is the only absolute path for self-realization, for the attainment of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Thus end the Bhaktivedanta Purports to the Twelfth Chapter of the Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā in the matter of Devotional Service.

శాకంభరీ నవరాత్రులు పౌష శుక్ల అష్టమి నాడు ప్రారంభమై పౌష పూర్ణిమ నాడు ముగుస్తాయి.

పౌష్య శుక్ల అష్టమిని బనద అష్టమి లేదా బానదష్టమి అంటారు.

అష్టమి నాడు ప్రారంభమై పూర్ణిమ నాడు ముగిసే శాకంభరి నవరాత్రులు మినహా చాలా వరకు నవరాత్రులు శుక్ల ప్రతిపాదాన ప్రారంభమవుతాయి. అందుకే శాకంభరి నవరాత్రులు మొత్తం ఎనిమిది రోజుల పాటు సాగుతాయి.

Hence Shakambhari Navratri spans for total eight days. However in some years due to skipped Tithi and leaped Tithi Shakambhari Navratri might span for seven and nine days respectively.

Shakambhari Mata is incarnation of Devi Bhagwati.

It is believed that Devi Bhagwati incarnated as Shakambhari to mitigate famine and severe food crisis on the Earth.

She is also known as Goddess of vegetables, fruits and green leaves and depicted with green surroundings of fruits and vegetables.

*🌷. భాష్యము : ఈ అధ్యాయపు రెండవ శ్లోకము “మయ్యావేశ్య మనో యే మాం” (మనస్సును నా యందే సంలగ్నము చేసి) నుండి చివరి ఈ శోకమైన “యే తు ధర్మామృతమిదం” (ఈ నిత్యసేవాధర్మము) వరకు శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుడు తనను చేరుటకు గల దివ్య సేవాపద్ధతులను వివరించెను. ఈ భక్తియుక్తసేవా కార్యములు శ్రీకృష్ణునకు అత్యంత ప్రియములై యున్నవి. వాని యందు నియుక్తుడైన మనుజుని అతడు ప్రేమతో అనుగ్రహించును.* 

*నిరాకార బ్రహ్మ మార్గము నందు నిమగ్నుడైనవాడు ఉత్తముడా లేక పూర్ణపురుషోత్తముడగు భగవానుని ప్రత్యక్షసేవలో నియుక్తుడైనవాడు ఉత్తముడా అను ప్రశ్నను అర్జునుడు లేవదీసియుండెను. అర్జునుని అట్టి ప్రశ్నకు శ్రీకృష్ణుడు తన భక్తియుతసేవయే ఆత్మానుభవమునకు గల వివిధపద్ధతులలో అత్యంత శ్రేష్టమైనదనుటలో ఎట్టి సందేహము లేదని స్పష్టముగా సమాధానమొసగినాడు. అనగా సత్సంగము ద్వారా మనుజుడు శుద్ధ భక్తియోగము నెడ అభిరుచిని వృద్ధిచేసికొనుననియు, తద్ద్వారా అతడు ఆధ్యాత్మికగురువును స్వీకరించి ఆయన నుండి శ్రవణ, కీర్తనములను చేయుటను ఆరంభించి శ్రద్ధ, అనురాగము, భక్తిభావములతో భక్తియోగమందలి నియమనిబంధనలను పాటించుచు శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుని దివ్యసేవలో నియుక్తుడు కాగలడనియు ఈ అధ్యాయమున నిర్ణయింపబడినది.*

*🌷 Translation : Those who follow this imperishable path of devotional service and who completely engage themselves with faith, making Me the supreme goal, are very, very dear to Me.*

*🌹 Purport : In this chapter, from verse 2 through the end – from mayy āveśya mano ye mām (“fixing the mind on Me”) through ye tu dharmāmṛtam idam (“this religion of eternal engagement”) – the Supreme Lord has explained the processes of transcendental service for approaching Him. Such processes are very dear to the Lord, and He accepts a person engaged in them. The question of who is better – one who is engaged in the path of impersonal Brahman or one who is engaged in the personal service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead – was raised by Arjuna, and the Lord replied to him so explicitly that there is no doubt that devotional service to the Personality of Godhead is the best of all processes of spiritual realization.*

*In other words, in this chapter it is decided that through good association one develops attachment for pure devotional service and thereby accepts a bona fide spiritual master and from him begins to hear and chant and observe the regulative principles of devotional service with faith, attachment and devotion and thus becomes engaged in the transcendental service of the Lord. This path is recommended in this chapter; therefore there is no doubt that devotional service is the only absolute path for self-realization, for the attainment of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.*

*ఓ ప్రభూ! సృష్టి కాలములో నీవు రజోగుణప్రధానుడవై బ్రహ్మరూపములో సృష్టిని చేసెదవు. విష్ణురూపములో సత్త్వగుణప్రధానుడవై ముల్లోకములను రక్షించెదవు (34). తమో గుణప్రధానుడవై రుద్రరూపములో ప్రళయకాలము నందు జగత్తును నాశము చేసెదవు. త్రిగుణా తీతమగు తురీయ శుద్ధచైతన్య స్వరూపుడవై శివనామముతో ప్రసిద్ధిని గాంచి యున్నావు (35).*

Only the yogi alone knows the difficulty of the path that he had traversed to reach his present stage. Sometimes, the yogi’s level of consciousness could momentarily retreat when his sensory perceptions predominate. All along, even during his three mundane level of consciousness, turya stage prevailed. In other words, the yogi continued spiritual conjugation even during his normal activities. This aphorism says that such momentary disjunction can be overcome and he regains his original state of turya.

పరిణామ ప్రక్రియలో వ్యక్తిత్వం యొక్క నిర్మాణం యొక్క రూపాంతరం ఉంది. వ్యక్తిత్వం పరిణామ ప్రక్రియలో రూపాంతరం చెందుతుంది మరియు ఈ పరివర్తనతో పాటు, ఆలోచనలు, తప్పు- ఒప్పు, మంచి - చెడు, ఆనందం - బాధ యొక్క నిర్వచనాలు కూడా మారుతాయి. ఈ రోజు ఆహ్లాదకరమైనది, పరిణామ ప్రక్రియలో ప్రాధాన్యత యొక్క మార్పు కారణంగా, విషయాల పట్ల నా వైఖరిలో మార్పు కారణంగా, రేపు నాకు ఆహ్లాదకరంగా ఉండవలసిన అవసరం లేదు. ఇది సర్వసాధారణం మరియు ఎక్కువ వ్యాఖ్యానం అవసరం లేదు.

అందుచేత, మనలో సంతోషకరమైన అనుభూతి ఆధ్యాత్మిక దృష్టికి సంకేతం అనే తప్పుడు భావనలో ఉండకూడదు, ఎందుకంటే మన ఆనందం ఏదో రకంగా మన స్వంత వ్యక్తిత్వ స్వభావంతో అనుసంధానించబడి ఉంటుంది. ఒక వ్యక్తి యొక్క మనస్సు యొక్క ఇష్టాలు అయిష్టాలు ఆ వ్యక్తి యొక్క మనస్సు యొక్క నిర్మాణం ద్వారా ఏర్పాటు చేయబడిన ప్రతిచర్యలు. మనస్సు యొక్క నిర్మాణం అది అనుభవించే నిర్దిష్ట సంతృప్తికి గాని అసంతృప్తికి గాని కారణమౌతుంది. కాబట్టి నేను ఇష్టపడేది మీ ఇష్టం కానవసరం లేదు, మనస్సులు ఒకే పద్ధతిలో ఉండవు అనే సాధారణ వాస్తవం వల్ల.

🌻 17. What I Like Need Not be Your Liking 🌻

In the process of evolution there is a transfiguration of the structure of individuality. The individuality transforms itself in the process of evolution, and simultaneously with this transformation, the notions, the ideas of right and wrong, good and bad, pleasure and pain also change. What is pleasant today need not be pleasant even to me, myself, tomorrow on account of the change of my attitude to things, due to a shift of emphasis in the process of evolution. This is commonplace and does not require much commentary.

Hence, we should not be under the erroneous notion that a jubilant feeling within us is a sign of spiritual vision, since our jubilation is somehow or other connected with the nature of our own personality. The likes and dislikes of the mind of an individual are reactions set up by the structure of the mind of that individual. The structure of the mind is responsible for the particular type of satisfaction that it feels, and the particular type of dissatisfaction also, which follows automatically from this structure. So what I like need not be your liking, it follows, because of the simple fact that minds are not made in the same manner.

27. తుదంత్యామత్వచం దంశాః మశకా మత్కుణాదయః|
రుదంతం విగతజ్ఞానం కృమయః కృమికం యథా॥

తాత్పర్యము : ఆ శిశువు యొక్క చర్మము మిగుల కోమలముగా ఉండును. కుట్టు స్వభావము గల దోమలు, నల్లులు మొదలగునవి పెద్ద కీటకములు, చిన్న కీటకములను వలె ఆ శిశువును బాధించును. మాతృగర్భము నందు ఉన్నప్పుడు అతనికి కలిగిన జ్ఞానము నశించుట వలన, ఆ శిశువు ఏడ్చుట దప్ప మరియేమియు చేయజాలడు.

వ్యాఖ్య : విగత జ్ఞానం అనే పదానికి అర్థం, శిశువు ఉదరంలో అభివృద్ధి చేసిన ఆధ్యాత్మిక జ్ఞానం అప్పటికే మాయ యొక్క ప్రభావం వలన పోయింది. వివిధ రకాల ఆటంకాలు మరియు పొత్తికడుపు నుండి బయటపడటం వలన, పిల్లవాడు తన మోక్షం కోసం ఏమి ఆలోచించాడో గుర్తుంచుకోలేడు. ఒక వ్యక్తి కొంత ఆధ్యాత్మిక జ్ఞానాన్ని పొందినప్పటికీ, సందర్భానుసారంగా అతను దానిని మరచిపోయే అవకాశం ఉందని భావించ బడుతుంది. పిల్లలు మాత్రమే కాకుండా వృద్ధులు కూడా తమ కృష్ణ చైతన్యాన్ని కాపాడుకోవడానికి మరియు దాని ప్రతికూల పరిస్థితులను నివారించడానికి చాలా జాగ్రత్తగా ఉండాలి. తద్వారా వారు తమ ప్రధాన కర్తవ్యాన్ని మరచిపోరు.

27. tudanty āma-tvacaṁ daṁśā maśakā matkuṇādayaḥ
rudantaṁ vigata-jñānaṁ kṛmayaḥ kṛmikaṁ yathā

MEANING : In his helpless condition, gnats, mosquitoes, bugs and other germs bite the baby, whose skin is tender, just as smaller worms bite a big worm. The child, deprived of his wisdom, cries bitterly.

PURPORT : The word vigata jñānam means that the spiritual knowledge which the child developed in the abdomen is already lost to the spell of māyā. Owing to various kinds of disturbances and to being out of the abdomen, the child cannot remember what he was thinking of for his salvation. It is assumed that even if a person acquires some spiritually uplifting knowledge, circumstantially he is prone to forget it. Not only children but also elderly persons should be very careful to protect their sense of Kṛṣṇa consciousness and avoid unfavorable circumstances so that they may not forget their prime duty.

*In the process of evolution there is a transfiguration of the structure of individuality. The individuality transforms itself in the process of evolution, and simultaneously with this transformation, the notions, the ideas of right and wrong, good and bad, pleasure and pain also change. What is pleasant today need not be pleasant even to me, myself, tomorrow on account of the change of my attitude to things, due to a shift of emphasis in the process of evolution. This is commonplace and does not require much commentary.*

*Hence, we should not be under the erroneous notion that a jubilant feeling within us is a sign of spiritual vision, since our jubilation is somehow or other connected with the nature of our own personality. The likes and dislikes of the mind of an individual are reactions set up by the structure of the mind of that individual. The structure of the mind is responsible for the particular type of satisfaction that it feels, and the particular type of dissatisfaction also, which follows automatically from this structure. So what I like need not be your liking, it follows, because of the simple fact that minds are not made in the same manner.*

Make it a religion to be happy. If you are not happy, something must be wrong and some drastic change is needed. Let happiness decide. I am a hedonist. And happiness is the only criterion humankind has.

There is no other criterion. Happiness gives you the clue that things are going well. Unhappiness gives you the indication that things are going wrong and that a great change is needed somewhere.
