*కామునిచే సేవింప బడునది శ్రీమాత. కాముడనగా మన్మథుడు. మన్మథుడు అనంగుడు. అనగా శరీరము లేనివాడు. శరీరమే లేనపుడు యింద్రియములు, మనస్సు యుండవు. జీవునికి కేవలము అంతఃకరణములే యుండును. మన్మథుడు శివునిచే శపింపబడెనని పురాణ గాథ. నిజమునకు శివుడు మహత్తరమగు వరము మన్మథునికి ప్రసాదించెను. అతనికి శరీరము లేకుండగ వరమిచ్చుటచే మనస్సు కూడ లేకుండ పోయెను. మనసేంద్రియ శరీరములు లేనపుడు శ్రీమాతను పూజించు టెట్లు? మ్రొక్కుటెట్లు? స్తుతించుట ఎట్లు? చూచు టెట్లు? నిజమునకు మనస్సు, యింద్రియములు, శరీరము బాహ్యమును చూచుటకే గాని అంతరంగమున దివ్యత్వము చూచుటకు వినియోగ పడవు.*

*Śrī Mātā is served by Kāma. Kāma refers to Manmatha. Manmatha is also known as Ananga, meaning "one without a body." If there is no body, then there are no senses or mind. The individual soul (jīva) possesses only the inner faculties (antaḥkaraṇa). According to the Purāṇas, Manmatha was cursed by Lord Śiva. However, in reality, Śiva granted him the greatest boon. By making him bodiless, he also took away his mind. If there is no mind, senses, or body, how can one worship Śrī Mātā? How can one bow to Her? How can one praise or see Her? In truth, the mind, senses, and body are useful only for perceiving the external world but are not necessary for experiencing divine transcendence within.*
