*🌷. తాత్పర్యం : ఈ అభ్యాసమును నీవు చేయలేకపోయినచో జ్ఞానసముపార్జనమునందు నియుక్తుడవగుము. అయినప్పటికిని జ్ఞానముకన్నను ధ్యానము మేలైనది. కాని త్యాగము వలన మనుజుడు మనశ్శాంతిని పొందగలుగుటచే సర్వకర్మఫల త్యాగము ఆ ధ్యానము కన్నను మేలితరమైనది.*
*🌷. భాష్యము : కడచిన శ్లోకములందు తెలుపబడినట్లు భక్తియుతసేవ రెండువిధములు. విధిపూర్వక నియమములు కలిగిన మార్గము ఒకటి కాగా, దేవదేవుని యెడ పూర్ణానురాగము కలిగిన మార్గము వేరొకటి. కృష్ణభక్తిభావన యందలి విధినియమములను వాస్తవముగా పాటింప జాలని వారు జ్ఞానసముపార్జన చేయుట ఉత్తమము. ఏలయన అట్టి జ్ఞానసముపార్జన ద్వారా మనుజుడు తన నిజస్థితిని అవగాహన చేసికొనగలడు. అట్టి జ్ఞానమును క్రమముగా ధ్యానముగా వృద్ధినొందగలదు. ధ్యానము ద్వారా మనుజుడు క్రమానుగతిని భగవానుని అవగతము చేసికొనగలుగును.*
*ఆత్మయే బ్రహ్మమును ఎరుకను కలిగించు కొన్ని విధానములు కలవు. భక్తియుక్తసేవలో నియుక్తుడగుటకు సమర్థుడు కానివానికి అటువంటి ధ్యానము ఉత్తమమైనది. ఒకవేళ మనుజుడు ఆ విధముగా ధ్యానము చేయలేనిచో వేదములందు బ్రాహ్మణులు, క్షత్రియులు, వైశ్యులు, శూద్రులకు విధింపబడిన విధ్యుక్తధర్మములను పాటింప వచ్చును. అట్టి వివిధవర్ణముల ధర్మములు భగవద్గీత యందలి అష్టాదశాధ్యాయమున వివరింప బడినవి. కాని ఈ అన్నిమార్గములందును మనుజుడు తన కర్మఫలమును త్యాగము చేయవలసి యున్నది. అనగా కర్మఫలమును ఏదియోనొక మంచి ప్రయోజనముకై వినియోగింప వలసి యుండును.*

*🌷 Translation : If you cannot take to this practice, then engage yourself in the cultivation of knowledge. Better than knowledge, however, is meditation, and better than meditation is renunciation of the fruits of action, for by such renunciation one can attain peace of mind.*
*🌹 Purport : If you cannot take to this practice, then engage yourself in the cultivation of knowledge. Better than knowledge, however, is meditation, and better than meditation is renunciation of the fruits of action, for by such renunciation one can attain peace of mind. As mentioned in the previous verses, there are two kinds of devotional service: the way of regulative principles and the way of full attachment in love to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. For those who are actually not able to follow the principles of Kṛṣṇa consciousness it is better to cultivate knowledge, because by knowledge one can be able to understand his real position. Gradually knowledge will develop to the point of meditation. By meditation one can be able to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead by a gradual process.*
*In the cultivation of knowledge there are processes which make one understand that one himself is the Supreme, and that sort of meditation is preferred if one is unable to engage in devotional service. If one is not able to meditate in such a way, then there are prescribed duties, as enjoined in the Vedic literature, for the brāhmaṇas, kṣatriyas, vaiśyas and śūdras, which we shall find in the last chapter of Bhagavad-gītā. But in all cases, one should give up the result or fruits of labor; this means to employ the result of karma for some good cause. In summary, to reach the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the highest goal, there are two processes: one process is by gradual development, and the other process is direct.*

*ఆ రాక్షసరాజు వారిచే సేవింపబడుతూ వెళ్లుచున్నవాడై నక్షత్రముల మధ్య చంద్రుని వలె, గ్రహముల మధ్య సూర్యునివలె ప్రకాశించెను (11). స్వర్గాధిపతియగు ఇంద్రుడు శంఖచూడుని రాకను గూర్చి విని దేవతలందరితో గూడి అతనితో యుద్ధమును చేయుటకు సన్నద్ధుడాయెను (12). అపుడు దేవతలకు రాక్షసులకు మధ్య వీరులకు ఆనందమును కలిగించునది, పరాక్రమవిహీనులకు భయమును గొల్పునది, గగర్పాటు కలిగించునది, అద్భుతమైనది అగు యుద్ధము జరిగెను (13). యుద్ధములో వీరులు గర్జించుటచే పెద్ద కోలాహలము చెలరేగెను. మరియు అచట పరాక్రమమును వర్ధిల్లజేయు వాద్యముల ధ్వని చేయబడెను (14).*
*అధిక బలశాలురగు దేవతలు కోపించి రాక్షసులతో యుద్ధమును చేసిరి.రాక్షసులు పరాజయమును పొంది భయముతో పరుగెత్తిరి (15). సమర్థుడగు శంఖచూడుడు వారు పారిపోవుచుండుటను గాంచి సింహనాదమును చేసి స్వయముగా దేవతలతో యుద్ధమును చేసెను (16). ఆతడు వెంటనే వేగముగా దేవతలపై విరుచుకుపడగా, ఆతని గొప్ప తేజస్సును సహింపజాలక దేవతలందరు పరుగులెత్తిరి (17) కొండగుహలలో, మరియు ఇతరస్థలములలో ఎచటనో ఉన్నవారై దీనులగు దేవతలు ఆతనికి వశులై స్వాతంత్రమును గోల్పోయి గడ్డకట్టిన సముద్రమువలె కాంతి విహీనులైరి (18). దంభుని పుత్రుడు, శూరుడు, ప్రతాపశీలియగు ఆ రాక్షసరాజు కూడ సర్వలోకములను జయించి దేవతల అధికారములను లాగుకొనెను (19). ఆతడు ముల్లోకములను తన వశము చేసుకొని యజ్ఞభాగములను పూర్తిగా తానే స్వీకరించి తానే ఇంద్రుడై జగత్తు నంతనూ పాలించెను (20). ఆతడు కుబేర, చంద్ర, సూర్య, అగ్ని, యమ, వాయువుల అధికారములను తన శక్తిచే నిర్వహించెను (21).*

11. The leader of the Dānavas going in the midst of his attendants shone as the moon in the midst of stars or as the sun in the midst of planets.
12. On hearing that Śaṅkhacūḍa was coming, Indra the king of heaven, accompanied by the gods made preparations for a fight.
13. Then a tremendous fight ensued between the Asuras and the gods delighting the heroic and terrifying the cowardly. It caused hairs to stand on end.
14. When the warriors roared in the battle, there was a tumultuous noise. The sound of drums and other instruments encouraged the warriors.
15. The powerful gods fought with the Asuras ferociously and defeated them. They were afraid and fled.
16. On seeing them fleeing, their leader Śaṅkhacūḍa roared like a lion and fought with the gods.
17. With his power and force he distressed the gods. The gods could not endure his dazzling brilliance. They fled.
18. The gods thus vanquished took shelter in the caves of the mountains. They lost their independence. They were subjugated. They lost their lustre like the frozen sea.
19. Thus the son of Dambha, the valorous leader of the Dānavas, conquered all the worlds and took up the powers of the gods.
20. He kept the three worlds under his control. He partook of all the shares in sacrifices. He became Indra and ruled the universe.
21. He carried the tasks of Kubera, Moon, Sun, Fire, Yama and Vāyu, according to his ability.

He could not believe his eyes, because the behavior was so unmannerly; he could not prevent himself from saying so. He told the master, "This is unmannerly! It is not expected of a master like you; some etiquette has to be observed. You are rolling on the floor, laughing like a madman." *
*The master looked at the emperor who had a bow; in those old days they used to carry bows and arrows. He said, "Tell me one thing: Do you keep this bow always strained, stretched, tense, or do you allow it to relax too?" The emperor said; "If we keep it stretched continuously it will lose elasticity, it will not be of any use then. It has to be left relaxed so that whenever we need it, it has elasticity." And the master said "That's what I'm doing."*
