కాలుని చంపునది శ్రీమాత అని అర్థము. కాలుడనగా మృత్యువు. మృత్యువునకే మృత్యువు శ్రీమాత. మృత్యువునకు మృత్యువు కల్పించుట సాధ్యమా? సాధ్యమే అని ఈ నామము తెలుపుచున్నది. కాలమును గణనము చేయుట గమనించుట కన్న ముందుండునది శ్రీమాత. ఆమె తరువాతయే కాలము పుట్టినది. కావున కాలమామె వశమందే యుండును. అంతేకాదు. కాలరూపమున నున్నది కూడ శ్రీమాతయే కదా! అందువలననే ఆమెను కాల స్వరూపిణి అని కీర్తింతురు. కావున కాలము పుట్టుకకు, స్థితికి, తిరోగమనమునకు ఆమెయే అధ్యక్షురాలు.

The name "Kalahantree" means "the one who destroys Kala." Here, Kala refers to death. Sri Mata is the death of death itself. Can death have its own death? This name reveals that it is indeed possible. Sri Mata existed even before the concept of observing and managing time. Time was born after her, which is why time is under her control. Not only that, Sri Mata herself is also in the form of time, which is why she is praised as the embodiment of time. Therefore, she is the ruler of the creation, sustenance, and dissolution of time.
