From Amāvāsya (new moon) to Pūrṇimā (full moon), if counted sequentially, Śrī Mātā's Kalās (phases) can be observed evolving from emptiness to completeness. Śrī Mātā brings about this gradual transformation from ignorance to knowledge in all living beings. The Divine Mother, who radiates with complete Kalās, is called "Śrī". The term Śrī signifies absolute consciousness (Pūrṇa Chaitanya). From her arise the Icchā Śakti (Will), Jñāna Śakti (Knowledge), and Kriyā Śakti (Action), manifesting as Sarasvatī, Lakṣmī, and Pārvatī, respectively. These deities are also addressed as Śrī. By adding the syllable "Śrī" to Pañcadaśī, it symbolizes Śrī Mātā's presence as the inner essence of all existence (Sarvāntaryāmitva).

పదహారు అక్షరముల విద్యగా నుండునది శ్రీమాత అని అర్థము. ముందు శ్లోకములలో శ్రీమాత పంచదశిగా పేర్కొనబడినది. పదిహేను అక్షరములతో కూడిన విద్యగా పేర్కొనబడినది. ఈ పదిహేను అక్షరములకు ముందు శ్రీ అను అక్షరము చేర్చినపుడు పంచదశి షోడశి అగుచున్నది. శ్రీమాత పూర్ణకళలు పదహారు. అమావాస్య నుండి చతుర్దశి వరకు పదిహేను తిథులలో పదిహేను కళ లేర్పడును. ఏమీ లేనట్లున్న స్థితి నుండి పౌర్ణమి ప్రారంభము వరకు పదిహేను తిథులుగా ఆమె వ్యాప్తి చెందును. పదహారవ కళగా పౌర్ణమి తిథి వుండును.

🌻 587. 'Shree Shodashakshari Vidya' - 1 🌻

The term Śrī Mātā signifies the knowledge of sixteen syllables. In earlier verses, Śrī Mātā was referred to as Pañcadaśī, meaning the knowledge composed of fifteen syllables. When the syllable "Śrī" is prefixed to these fifteen syllables, Pañcadaśī becomes Ṣoḍaśī. Śrī Mātā is associated with sixteen complete Kalās (phases or aspects). From Amāvāsya (new moon) to Chaturdaśī (fourteenth lunar day), fifteen Kalās emerge. "God is beyond all experience. You cannot experience God because he is not separate from you. You can live God, you can be God, but you cannot experience him. We can experience things only when they are separate from us. You cannot see yourself, and God is your innermost core — you cannot see God either. So people who search for God as if God is an object are on a wrong journey from the very beginning. They will be frustrated, and out of frustration they can start creating hallucinations too. Because of the frustration the mind starts giving consolation prizes: the mind gives you hallucinatory experiences.

If you are a Hindu you see Krishna standing before you, and that is just an hallucination. If you are a Christian you see Christ. The Christian never sees Krishna, the Hindu never sees Christ; the Mohammedan is blissfully unaware of both. You see only that which you are projecting. Because down the ages God has been thought of as a person, hallucinations become possible. Because he was thought of as something that can be experienced, people went on wrong journeys and wasted their lives.

God cannot be experienced, cannot be searched for, cannot be seen, because you are it. You are already it, so what is needed is not to search; all that is needed is to start celebrating. You are God! There is no need to postpone your celebration even for a single moment, because in the next moment also you will be God, as much as you are right now. Yesterday also you were as much a God as you are right now or will ever be. You are the same God always. Just a little daring is needed to celebrate it, a little daring to accept this tremendous truth of “I am God!”

It is very difficult because the so-called saints have been teaching you that you are a sinner, that you are unworthy, that you will be thrown into hellfire — that’s where you belong. How can you suddenly believe that you are a God? It seems outrageous but it is the truth.

To recognize yourself as God does not mean that you are God and others are not God. To recognize yourself as God means that everything is divine, even your enemy. Not only is Jesus God but Judas too! That is very shattering… that is very difficult. Not only is the beautiful person God, but the ugliest, he too is God because nothing else exists. God is synonymous with existence.

My approach is that we are not searching for experiences here. We are trying to know the one who experiences all experiences. Our search is for the witness. Who is this observer? Who is this consciousness? Sometimes it feels sad, sometimes it feels happy; sometimes it is so high, flying in the sky, and sometimes so down. Who is this watcher of all these games? — high and low, happy, unhappy, in heaven and hell. Who is this watcher?

To know this watcher is to know God. And you are already it — just a little awakening is needed… no search but only awakening".

The mind is naturally inclined toward both the responsibilities of bodily protection and nourishment as well as worldly enjoyments. Because of this, chitta (pure consciousness) should not remain within the mind but should be directed toward buddhi (intellect). A steady mind itself is chitta. Chitta is like a lamp that does not flicker in the absence of wind, whereas the mind is like a flame that constantly wavers in the breeze. The essential practice of spiritual discipline is to detach from the restless mind. Since these blessings were granted to Manmatha as Śiva’s boon, he was able to stabilize his chitta and worship Śrī Mātā with unwavering devotion. Through Her grace, he became Her eternal servant and took part in the divine process of creation. It is only through Kāma that both worldly and spiritual attainments become possible. That is why Śrī Mātā eternally accepts worship offered by Kāma.

Because of this, chitta (pure consciousness) should not remain within the mind but should be directed toward buddhi (intellect). A steady mind itself is chitta. Chitta is like a lamp that does not flicker in the absence of wind, whereas the mind is like a flame that constantly wavers in the breeze. The essential practice of spiritual discipline is to detach from the restless mind. Since these blessings were granted to Manmatha as Śiva’s boon, he was able to stabilize his chitta and worship Śrī Mātā with unwavering devotion. Through Her grace, he became Her eternal servant and took part in the divine process of creation. It is only through Kāma that both worldly and spiritual attainments become possible. That is why Śrī Mātā eternally accepts worship offered by Kāma.*

🌻 586. 'Kama Sevita' - 3 🌻

Kāma (desire) resides within us as the awareness that generates longing. After all, one who has no desire cannot even seek the supreme! Desire is the primary force behind both worldly life (iham) and the ultimate truth (param). Without desire, one cannot progress in either the material or spiritual realms, nor can one become powerful or self-realized. Both knowledge (jñāna) and action (kriyā) exist only in alignment with desire. Kāma was liberated because he was Ananga (bodiless). Likewise, true seekers should not worship merely with their body and senses but with their chitta (pure consciousness). Only those who worship with a steady mind will attain results. One must pray for the divine presence that remains accessible in the realm of buddhi (intellect) when the chitta is stable. If the chitta is entangled in the mind, it will flow outward, entering the senses and becoming engrossed in sense objects.

To perceive the inner self, Chitta (consciousness), Buddhi (intellect), and Ahamkāra (ego) must function as the primary faculties. When one can no longer see the external world, only the inner vision remains. As one begins to look inward, Śrī Mātā’s subtle form becomes visible. This form is radiant with divine light. Worshiping this subtle form leads to an even more refined and transcendental vision of Śrī Mātā’s most subtle essence, which even Kāma (Manmatha) can behold. For this reason, Kāma, becoming a devotee of Śrī Mātā, attained a significant role in the workings of the universe.
