*తాత్పర్యము : అజ్ఞానియైన జీవుడు అశాశ్వతమైన శరీరమును, దానికి సంబంధించిన ఇల్లు, పొలము, సంపదలు మొదలగు వానిని మోహ వశమున నిత్యములని భావించును. (అందువలన అతడు పరితపించును).*

*dhruvāṇi manyate mohād gṛha-kṣetra-vasūni ca*
*MEANING : The misguided materialist does not know that his very body is impermanent and that the attractions of home, land and wealth, which are in relationship to that body, are also temporary. Out of ignorance only, he thinks that everything is permanent.*
*PURPORT : The materialist thinks that persons engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness are crazy fellows wasting time by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, but actually he does not know that he himself is in the darkest region of craziness because of accepting his body as permanent. And, in relation to his body, he accepts his home, his country, his society and all other paraphernalia as permanent. This materialistic acceptance of the permanency of home, land, etc., is called the illusion of māyā. This is clearly mentioned here. Mohād gṛha-kṣetra-vasūni: out of illusion only does the materialist accept his home, his land and his money as permanent. Out of this illusion, the family life, national life and economic development, which are very important factors in modern civilization, have grown. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person knows that this economic development of human society is but temporary illusion.*
*In another part of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, the acceptance of the body as oneself, the acceptance of others as kinsmen in relationship to this body and the acceptance of the land of one's birth as worshipable are declared to be the products of an animal civilization. When, however, one is enlightened in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he can use these for the service of the Lord. That is a very suitable proposition. Everything has a relationship with Kṛṣṇa. When all economic development and material advancement are utilized to advance the cause of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, a new phase of progressive life arises.*

*Mūrti or figure is what is weighty and which can support, of the nature of the moveable and immovable. He who is devoid of it is Amūrtiḥ. Or Mūrti means what is compacted of the body and limbs capable of perception and feelings. As He is without these, He is Amūrtiḥ.*

*Swami Sivananda’s method combines revelation, meditation and reason in one. To him, all methods of sense function and the mental approach to Truth have to be set aside as faulty for the reason that their deliverances are untrustworthy, being logically indefensible and psychologically warped by the defects of the instruments. Infallible knowledge is to be had only in the intuition of Reality, and all knowledge derived through the senses, understanding and reason falls short of it in an enormous degree. No other method of approach to Truth than communion with being as such can give us ultimately reliable knowledge.*
*Unless the knower and the known are identified in knowledge, knowledge is not true, but gives us only a semblance of what we really seek to obtain. Swami Sivananda is a faithful follower of Sankara in his basic presuppositions, though he is equally friendly with Ramanuja, Madhva and the other dualistic and pluralistic philosophers. To Swami Sivananda, philosophy is the way of the attainment of Brahman, and his method includes all that is best in every school of philosophy. Empiricism, rationalism, transcendentalism and absolutism come to a loving embrace in his most catholic system.*

*🌴. The ignorance of various tattvas such as kala, etc., which make up the body which are responsible for suffering and bondage and mistaking them as the real self, this is delusion. 🌴*
*Bondage begins to cast its spell from kalā tattva downwards. One can experience the higher levels of spirituality, only if he is able to transcend the principle of kalā. The beginning stage of universal consciousness or realizing the omnipresent nature of the Brahman happens at kalā. Kalā acts like a border. When one is able to transcend kalā and moves forward, He will ultimately realize the Brahman. It is also possible that a realized person can slip back and fall further down, if he crosses kalā in a downward movement. Once kalā is transcended, the next five principles are pure, where the level of undifferentiated knowledge gets reduced to almost to nothingness.*
