*అపుడు మహాబలుడగు రాక్షసరాజు పరిఘను చేతబట్టి వేగముగా గెంతి వీరభద్రుని సమీపమునకు వచ్చెను. (48). మహాబలుడు, సముద్రపుత్రుడు, వీరుడు అగు ఆ జలంధరుడు మిక్కిలి పెద్ద పరిఘతో వీరభద్రుని శిరస్సుప్తె కొట్టి గర్జించెను (49).
*గణాధ్యక్షుడగు వీరభద్రుడు మిక్కిలి పెద్దదియగు పరిఘచే కొట్టబడి పగిలిన శిరస్సు గలవాడ్తె నేలప్తె బడెను. ఆతని తలనుండి చాల రక్తము స్రవించెను(50). వీరభద్రుడు నేల గూలుటను గాంచి రుద్రగణములు భయముతో ఆక్రోశిస్తూ యుద్దమును వీడి మహేశ్వరుని వద్దకు పరుగెత్తిరి (51). అపుడ చంద్రశేఖరుడు గణముల కోలాహలమును విని తన ప్రక్కన నిలబడియున్న వీరులగు గణనాయకులను ప్రశ్నించెను(52).*
*శంకురుడిట్లు పలికెను - నా గణములలో పెద్ద కోలాహలము చెలరేగుచున్నది. కారణమేమి? మహావీరులారా! పరిశీలించుడు. నేను నిశ్చయముగా ఈ కోలాహలమును శాంతింప జేయవలెను (53). ఆ దేవదేవుడు ఈ తీరును సాదరముగా గణాధ్యక్షులను ప్రశ్నించునంతలో, ఆ గణములు ప్రభువు సమీపమునకు వచ్చిరి (54). దుఃఖితులై యున్న వారిని గాంచి రుద్రప్రభుడు'కుశలమేనా?' యని ప్రశ్నించెను. ఆ గణములు జరిగిన వృత్తాంతమును యథా తథముగా విస్తరముగా చెప్పిరి (55). గొప్ప లీలలను చేయు భగవాన్ రుద్రప్రభుడు ఆ వృత్తాంతమును విని వారికి అభయమునిచ్చి వారిలో గొప్ప ఉత్సాహము వర్థిల్లు నట్లు చేసెను (56).*

48. Then the king of the Daityas leapt up to him with a great iron club. That powerful warrior reached very near Vīrabhadra very quickly.
49. The heroic and powerful son of the ocean hit Vīrabhadra on his head with his great iron club. He then roared.
50. Vīrabhadra, the leader of the Gaṇas, fell on the ground with his head shattered by the iron club and shed much blood.
51. On seeing Vīrabhadra fallen, the terrified Gaṇas abandoned the battle ground shrieking and fled to lord Śiva.
52. On hearing the tumultuous uproar of the Gaṇas, the moon-crested lord asked the excellent Gaṇas, the heroes standing near him.
Śiva said:—
53. How is this tumultuous uproar among my Gaṇas? O heroes, let this be enquired into. Peace shall be established by me, of course.
54. Even as the lord of the gods was conducting the enquiry, the leaders of the Gaṇas approached the lord.
55. On seeing them dejected, the lord enquired after their health. The Gaṇas then intimated to him everything in detail.
56. On hearing it, lord Śiva, the expert in divine sports assured them of freedom from fear increasing their enthusiasm.

To glorify Lord Krishna, Srimata are glorified as sixteen-year-old, eternally youthful, hence he is called 'Shyam' and she 'Shyamala'. The reason is that they always reside in the heart.*
