*🌻. పతివ్రతా ధర్మములు - 4 🌻*
స్నానము చేసిన తరువాత భర్త ముఖమునే చూడవలెను. ఇతరుల ముఖమును చూడరాదు. భర్త దగ్గర లేనిచో, భర్తను మనస్సులో ధ్యానించి సూర్యుని చూడవలెను (33). భర్త యొక్క ఆయుష్షును గోరు పతివ్రత పసుపును, కుంకుమను, సిందూరమును, కాటుకను, తాంబూలమును, మంగళసూత్రమును, ఆభరణములను, రవికెను, కేశసంస్కారమును, కేశాభరణములను, చేతులకు గాజులను, కర్ణాభరణములను, ఇటువంటి ఇతర ఆభరణములను విడనాడరాదు (34, 35). చాకలితో, కులటతో, సన్న్యాసినితో మరియు భాగ్యహీనురాలితో ఎన్నడునూ ఎక్కడనైననూ స్నేహము చేయరాదు (36).
భర్తను ద్వేషించు స్త్రీతో పతివ్రత ఎన్నడునూ సంభాషించరాదు. ఎక్కడైనననూ ఒంటరిగా నుండరాదు. నగ్నముగా ఎన్నడైననూ స్నానము చేయరాదు (37). పతివ్రత రోటిపైన, రోకలిపైన, చీపురు కట్టపైన,రాతిపైన, తిరగలిపైన, గడప పైన ఎన్నడునూ కూర్చుండరాదు (38). సంభోగసమయమునందు తక్క ఇతరత్రా ప్రగల్భముగ నుండరాదు. భర్తకు దేని యందు అభిరుచి గలదో, దానియందామె ప్రేమను కలిగి ఉండవలెను (39). భర్త ఆనందముగ నున్నచో, భార్య ఆనందించవలెను. ప్రియుడగు భర్త విషాదమును పొందినచో ప్రియురాలగు భార్య కూడ విషాదమును పొందవలెను. పతివ్రత సర్వకాలములయందు భర్త యొక్క హితమును గోరవలెను (40).
భార్య సంపద కల్గినపుడు, ఆపద వచ్చినప్పుడు కూడ ఏకరూపముగ పుణ్య భావమును కలిగి యుండవలెను. ఆమె ధైర్యమును కలిగియుండి తనలో ఎట్టి వికారమునకైననూ తావీయరాదు (41). పోపు సామగ్రి, ఉప్పు, నూనె మొదలగునవి లేక పోయిననూ, పతివ్రత భర్తతో 'లేదు' అని చెప్పరాదు. భర్తకు ఆయాసమును కలిగించరాదు (42).
భర్త విష్ణువు కంటె, బ్రహ్మకంటె, శివుని కంటె గొప్పవాడని పెద్దలు చెప్పెదరు. ఓ దేవదేవీ! పతివ్రతకు తన భర్త శివుడే యగును (43). భర్తను కాదని వ్రతములను, ఉపవాసములను, నియమములను అనుష్టించు స్త్రీ భర్త ఆయుష్షును క్షయము చేయుటయే గాక, మరణించిన పిదప నరకమును పొందును (44).

*🌻 Description of the duties of the chaste wife - 4 🌻*
33. After her bath she shall see her husband’s face and not that of anyone else. Or after thinking on her husband she shall then gaze at the sun.
34-35. If a chaste lady wishes for the longevity of her husband she shall not forsake turmeric, vermilion, saffron, collyrium, a blouse, the betel, the necklace, ornaments, brushing and plaiting the hair bangles and earrings.
36. A chaste woman shall never associate intimately with a washerwoman, a harlot, a female ascetic or a fallen woman.
37. She shall not talk to any woman who disparages or hates her husband. She shall not stand alone anywhere nor shall she take bath in the nude.
38. A chaste lady shall never sleep on a mortar threshing rod, a broom, a grinding stone, a machine or on the threshold.
39. Except at the time of sexual intercourse she shall never show her maturity and initiative. She shall like whatever her husband is interested in.
40. A chaste lady shall be delighted when her husband is delighted and dejected when he is dejected. She shall always wish for his benefit.
41. She shall be virtuous and equanimous in affluence and adversity. She shall have fortitude and shall never go astray.
42. Even when ghee, salt, oil or other things are exhausted she shall not tell her husband openly about it lest he should be subjected to undue strain.
43. O Goddess, the husband is superior to Brahmā, Viṣṇu or Śiva, for a chaste lady her husband is on a par with Śiva.
44. She who transgresses her husband and observes fast and other rites wrecks the longevity of her husband and after death goes to hell.

యమధర్మరాజునకు తన పదిమంది భార్యల వలన కలిగిన సంతానమును గూర్చి చెప్పెదను. విశ్వకు విశ్వేదేవతలు, సాధ్యకు సాధ్యులు, మరుత్వలకి ఇద్దరు మరుత్వంవతులు, వసువునకు వసువులు భానువుకు బానువలు, ముహూర్తకు ముహూర్తులు, లంబకు ఘోషుడు, యామికి నాగవీధి, మరుత్వతికి పృథివీ సంబద్దమగు సకల వస్తుజాతము, సంకల్పకు సంకల్పులు జనించిరి. చంద్రునకు నక్షత్రముల వలన ఆపుడు, ధ్రువుడు, సోముడు, ధరుడు, అనిలుడు అనలుడు, ప్రత్యూషుడు, ప్రభాసుడు, ఎనమండుగురు వసువులను జనించిరి.
ఆపుని కుమారులు వైతండ్యుడు, శ్రముడు, శాంతుడు, ముని అనువారు. లోకాంతుడైన కాలుడు ధ్రువుని కుమారుడు. వర్చసుడు సోముని కుమారుడు. ద్రవిణుడు, హుతహవ్యవహుడు శిశిరుడు, ప్రాణుడు, రమణుడు అనువారు ధరునికి మనోహరయ దు కుమారులుగా జనించిరి. అనిలుని కుమారుడు పురోజపుడు. అనలుని కుమారుడు అవిజ్ఞాతుడు. కుమారుడు అగ్నిపుత్రుడుగా శరస్తంబమునందు జనించెను. ఆతని తరువాత శాఖుడు, విశాఖుడు, నైగమేయుడును పట్టిరి కృత్తిక నుండి కార్తి కీయుడును, యతియైన సనత్కుమారుడును పుట్టిరి.
వేలకొలది శిల్పములను చేయువాడును, దేవతల వడ్రంగియు, కాంతిమంతుడును ఆగు విశ్వకర్మయను దేవలుడు ప్రత్యుషునినుండి జనించెను. మనుష్యులు భూషణాది శిల్పములను జీవనాధారముగా చేసి కొనుచుందురు.
సురభి తపస్సుచే పవిత్రీకృతురాలై, మహాదేవుని ప్రసాదముచే ఏకాదశరుద్రులను కనెను. మేక పాదము వంటి ఒక పాదము గల అహిర్బుధ్న్యుడు, త్వష్టయను రుద్రుడు, బహురూపుడు, హరుడు, పరాజితుడు కాని త్ర్యంబకుడు, వృషాకమియు, కపర్ద (జటా) ధారియగు శంభువు, రైవతుడు, మృగవ్యాధుడు, సర్పుడు, పదకొండవవాడైన కపాలియు, చరాచర జగుత్తును వ్యాపించిన కోట్లకొలది రుద్రులు జనించిరి. శ్రీమంతుడును, మహా యశః శాలియు అగు విశ్వరూపుడు త్వష్ట కుమారుడు.
అగ్ని మహాపురాణములో స్వాయంభువమనువంశకర్ణన మన అష్టాదశాధ్యాయము సమాప్తము.

*🌻 Genealogy of Svāyambhuva Manu - 4 🌻*
31. By mental intercourse the celestials, serpents and others (were born) to them in the past. I shall describe (you) the creation of Dharma through his ten wives.
32. The Viśvedevas (were born) to Viśvā, Sādhyā gave birth to the Sādhyas. The Maruts came into being from the Marut and the Vasus from Vasu.
33. The Bhānus (were) the sons of Bhānu and the Muhūrtas (were born) to Muhūrtā. Ghoṣa (was born) to Dharma through Lambā. Nāgavīthī was born of Yāmī.
34. All that belonged to the earth were born of Arundhati. Saṅkalpā (was born) from Saṅkalpā. The stars were the sons of moon.
35. The eight Vasus[15] are known by the names—Āpa, Dhruva, Soma, Dhara[16], Anila, Anala, Pratyūṣa and Prabhāsa.
36. Vaitaṇḍya, Śrama, Śānta, and Muni[17] (were) the sons of Āpa. Kāla, the destroyer of the Universe (was the son) of Dhruva. Varcā was the son of Soma.
37. Dhara had the sons Draviṇa, Hutahavyavāha, Śiśira, Prāṇa and Ramaṇa through Manoharā.
38. Purojava[18] was (the son) of Anila and Avijñāta of Anala. Kumāra, the son of Agni, was born in a clump of reeds.
39. Śākha, Viśākha and Naigameya were his younger brothers. (He was known as) Kārttikeya (as he was the son) of Kṛttikā. (He is also known as) the ascetic Sanatkumāra.
40. Devala was born from Pratyūṣa. Viśvakarman (was born) from Prabhā, and was the architect of thousands of sculptures and the architect of celestials.
41. Men earn their livelihood by this art of architecture and of (making) ornaments. Surabhi begot eleven Rudras[19] from Kaśyapa.
42. O Most pious man! By the favour of Mahādeva (Śiva) (who was) thought of (by her) in her ascetic observances. Satī gave birth to Ajaikapād, Ahirbudhnya, Tvaṣṭṛ and Rudra.
43-44. Viśvarūpa, the great illustrious and fortunate (was) the son of Tvaṣṭṛ. Hara, Bahurūpa, Tryambaka, Aparājita, Vṛṣākapi, Śambhu, Kapardin, Raivata, Mṛgavyādha, Sarpa and Kapālin were the eleven forms by which the entire world, both movable and immovable were pervaded by hundreds and thousands of Rudras.[20]

*నిశ్చలులు, నిర్మలురు అగు చిత్తము గలవారి యందు శ్రీమాత వసించి అంతరంగానుభూతిని కలిగించు చుండును. నిర్మల చిత్తము కోరువారు శారీరకము, వాఙ్మయము, మనోమయము అగు తపస్సు నాచరించవలెను. అనగా మనస్సు, ఇంద్రియములు, శరీరము యజ్ఞారమై వినియోగించవలెను. లోకహిత కార్యములే యజ్ఞములు. వాని యందు నిమగ్నమగు వానికి క్రమముగ చిత్తము నిర్మలమగుట తథ్యము.*
*భక్తి సాధనమున గాని, యోగ సాధనమున గాని నిర్మల చిత్తమును పొందుట ప్రధానమగు కార్యముగ నిలచి యున్నది. నిర్మల చిత్తము లేనివారు ఎన్ని దైవకార్యములు చేసిననూ ఫలితము శూన్యమే. అహింస, సత్యము, బ్రహ్మచర్యము, దొంగబుద్ధి లేకుండుట, ఇతరుల సొమ్మున కాశపడకుండుట, బహిరంతర శుచి, సంతోషము, స్వాధ్యాయము, మనస్సును ఈశ్వరునికి సమర్పణము చేసి జీవించుట నిర్మలత్వమున కుపాయములుగ తెలుపబడినవి.*

*Saundarya Laharī verse 38 provides further information on this nāma. In Hinduism, highly evolved souls are called paramahaṃsa-s (a religious man who has subdued all his senses by abstract meditation) which refers to the qualities of swans. The swans have a few exceptional qualities. If water and milk is mixed, swans consume only the milk leaving water alone.*
*This is interpreted as that one should take cognizance of only good things, leaving bad things aside, though the world exists as the mixture of the two. Whenever swans are mentioned, they are always referred to in pairs, out of which one represents sense of hearing and another sense of seeing. Out of all the senses, only these two cause serious erosion of moral values. Like swans one should take notice of good things in life. That is why She is referred as swan.*
