🌷. తాత్పర్యం :
*జనక మహారాజు వంటి రాజులు కేవలము విధ్యుక్తధర్మములను నిర్వర్తించుట ద్వారానే సంపూర్ణత్వమును పొందిరి. కావున జనసామాన్యమునకు భోదించు నిమిత్తమై తప్పక నీవు కర్మను చేయుము.*
🌷. భాష్యము :
జనకుడు వంటి రాజులు ఆత్మానుభవము పొందిన మహాత్ములైనందున వేదనిర్దేశములైన కర్మల నొనరింపవలసిన అవసరము వారికి లేకుండెను. అయినను సామాన్యజనులకు ఆదర్శమును నెలకొల్పుటకై వారు తమ విధ్యుక్తధర్మములను సంపూర్ణముగా నిర్వర్తించిరి. జనకమహారాజు సీతాదేవికి తండ్రి మరియు శ్రీరామచంద్రునికి మామగారు. భగవద్బక్తుడైనందున అతడు ఉన్నత ఆధ్యాత్మికస్థితి యందు నిలిచియున్నను మిథిలానగరమునకు (బీహారురాష్టమునకు) రాజైన కారణమున విధ్యుక్తధర్మములను ఏ విధముగా నిర్వర్తింపవలెనో తన ప్రజలకు స్వయముగా తెలియజేయవలసివచ్చెను.
శ్రీకృష్ణునకు మరియు అతని నిత్యస్నేహితుడైన అర్జునునకు విఫలమైన చోట హింస తప్పనిసరి యని జనులకు తెలియజేయుటకై వారు యుద్ధము చేసిరి. కురుక్షేత్ర యుద్ధమునకు పూర్వము యుద్ధమును నివారించుటకు సర్వవిధములైన ప్రయత్నములు జరిగెను. స్వయము శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుడు అందులకు యత్నించినను ఎదుటి పక్షమువారు యుద్ధమునకే సిద్ధపడిరి. కనుక న్యాయసమ్మతమైన అట్టి విషయమున యుద్ధము తప్పనిసరి అయ్యెను.
కృష్ణభక్తిరసభావితుడు ఈ లోకము నెడ ఆసక్తిరహితుడైనను జనులు ఏ విధముగా జీవించవలెనో మరియు కర్మలు ఏ విధముగా ఒనరించవలెనో తెలియజేయుటకై కర్మల నొనరించుచుండును. కృష్ణభక్తిభావన యందు అనుభవజ్ఞులైనవారు ఇతరులు తమను అనుసరించురీతిలో కర్మను సమర్థవంటముగా ఒనరింపగలరు. ఈ విషయమును రాబోవు శ్లోకమునందు వివరింపబడినది.

*20. karmaṇaiva hi saṁsiddhim āsthitā janakādayaḥ*
*loka-saṅgraham evāpi sampaśyan kartum arhasi*
🌷Translation :
*Kings such as Janaka attained perfection solely by performance of prescribed duties. Therefore, just for the sake of educating the people in general, you should perform your work.*
🌷 Purport :
Kings like Janaka were all self-realized souls; consequently they had no obligation to perform the prescribed duties in the Vedas. Nonetheless they performed all prescribed activities just to set examples for the people in general. Janaka was the father of Sītā and father-in-law of Lord Śrī Rāma. Being a great devotee of the Lord, he was transcendentally situated, but because he was the king of Mithilā (a subdivision of Bihar province in India), he had to teach his subjects how to perform prescribed duties. Lord Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, the Lord’s eternal friend, had no need to fight in the Battle of Kurukṣetra, but they fought to teach people in general that violence is also necessary in a situation where good arguments fail.
Before the Battle of Kurukṣetra, every effort was made to avoid the war, even by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but the other party was determined to fight. So for such a right cause, there is a necessity for fighting. Although one who is situated in Kṛṣṇa consciousness may not have any interest in the world, he still works to teach the public how to live and how to act. Experienced persons in Kṛṣṇa consciousness can act in such a way that others will follow, and this is explained in the following verse.

సత్యవ్రతుడు ఒక పెద్దపామును త్రాడుగా చేసి ఆ ఓడను మహామత్స్యం కొమ్ముకు కట్టివేసినాడు. సంతోషంతో హృదయాన్ని పదిలపరచుకొన్నాడు. ఋషులతో పాటు అతడు విష్ణువును క్రింది విధంగా పొగడసాగినాడు.
ఓ భగవంతుడా! తమలో ఆవరించిన అజ్ఞానం వల్ల కొందరు సంసారసాగరంలోపడి చిక్కుకొని మోసపోయి కలత పడతారు. కోరికలను వెన్నంటుతారు. అటువంటివారు అదృష్టంవల్ల పరమాత్ముడవైన నిన్ను సేవించి మోక్షాన్ని పొంది సంతోషపడతారు. ఆ విధంగా అందరినీ ఆదరించే నీవు మమ్ములను కాపాడు.

*The One sporting a big horn. During His Matsyāvatāra or incarnation as a great fish, He sported in the waters of great deluge binding the boat with only life to His great horn.*

*When we look at the world, we have what may be called a first view of things, and dissatisfaction with the first view of things is supposed to be the mother of all philosophical thinking. If we are satisfied with things, there is nothing more for us to search for in this world. Any kind of search, quest, enterprise, or desire to seek implies that we are not satisfied with the existing condition of things. And, we are quite aware that nobody in this world can be said to be totally satisfied with the prevailing conditions of things—neither in one's own self, nor in one's family, nor in the society outside, nor in anything, for the matter of that.*
*There is always a tendency in the human mind to discover a lacuna in things: “It should not be like this. It should have been in some other way.” This is a distinction that we draw between the ‘is' and the ‘ought'. We may say “something is like this”; but instead, what we express is “something ought to have been like this” or “something ought to be like this”. The ‘ought' is something that we are expecting in this world; the ‘is' is what we are actually facing in this world. There is always this distinction, drawn in ourselves, between the ‘is' and the ‘ought'.*

*మా బృందము నుండి సమాజ శ్రేయస్సుకై, సంఘమున దేహము ధరించు మహాత్ముడు రకరకముల కష్టనష్టములకు గురి అగును. మొసళ్ళ కోనేటిలో ప్రవేశించినట్లు అతని జీవితము నడచును. సర్వమునకు సిద్ధమై పరహితబుద్ధితో త్యాగనిరతితో మా బృంద సభ్యుడు భౌతిక శరీరమును గొనుటకు సంసిద్ధుడగును. నీటి యందలి ఈ మొసళ్ళు సంఘమునందలి అహంకారులు. అహంకారము, ధనము ఈ అహంకారులను క్రూరులుగ కూడ తయారుచేయుచున్నది. పరికించి చూడగ ఈ క్రూరత్వము పదవులను, అధికారమును, ధనమును అంటిపెట్టుకొని యున్నట్లు గోచరించును. వీరి వలన సంఘమున ఎట్టి శ్రేయోదాయకమైన కార్యములు నెరవేరవు.*
*అహంకారి తనకు తానే శత్రువు. ఇతరులకు ఉపయోగపడు పనులు అతని వలన జరుగవు. అతని భావనా సముదాయ మంతయు అతని మేలుకొఱకే పని చేయుచుండును. అందరి మేలును కోరుచున్నా మనుచు తమ మేలును పెంపొందించు కొందురు. కట్టలు తెగిన అహంకారముతో తమకందినంత మేర జీవులను, ప్రదేశములను, దేశములను కబళింతురు. ఆతురతతో సమస్తమును, కబళించుటకు వీరు చేయు యత్నము వెనుక మిక్కుటమైన భీతి యున్నది.*

*నక్షత్రాల కవతలిదేదో నీలో ప్రవేశిస్తుంది. నీగుండా అజ్ఞాతశక్తి గానం చేస్తుంది. నీగుండా నాట్యం చేస్తుంది. ఆ అజ్ఞాత శక్తే దేవుడు. దేవుడు ఒక వ్యక్తి కాదు. అది అజ్ఞాతానికి పేరు. మార్మికమయిన దానికి మరో పేరు. అది అవగాహనకి అతీతం. ఎట్లాంటి మేధస్సయినా దాన్ని అవగాహన చేసుకోలేదు. మార్మికమయిన రహస్యమయిన దాన్ని తెలుసుకోవడానికి సౌందర్యభరితమయిన, దయాపూరితమయిన జీవితాన్ని జీవించాలి. లేని పక్షంలో జనం జీవితాన్ని కోల్పోతారు. నాట్యం చేయడం కోల్పోతారు.*

*"యజ్ఞార్థం కురు కర్మాణి" అని శ్రీకృష్ణుడు అర్జునున కుపదేశించెను. ఇతరుల శ్రేయస్సును మాత్రమే మనస్సున ధరించి కర్మల నొనర్చుట యజుర్వేద సూత్రము. అధర్వణము అనగా యంత్ర, మంత్ర తంత్ర క్రతు విధానము. సృష్టి అంతయూ ఈ విధానముననే నిర్మాణము చేయబడినది. కావున క్రతు విధానమున సాధకులు పశ్చిమ ద్వారము నుండి చింతామణి గృహమును చేరవచ్చును.*
*భరత భూమి యందు ఉజ్జయిని పుణ్య క్షేత్రము నందు, దక్షిణమున నీలగిరుల యందు, ఉత్తరమున నేపాళము నందు పూర్వము ఈ వేదము బాగుగ రాణించినది. ఈ వేదము నుపాసించు వారికి జీవిత మంతయూ క్రతుబద్ధమే. నిద్ర లేచుట, దంత ధావనము, స్నానము, వస్త్ర ధారణము, ఆహార స్వీకరణము, ఎనిమిది జాముల విధి, ఆహార స్వీకరణము, చివరికి అల్పాచమనము కూడ క్రతుబద్దమే. ఈ మార్గమున ప్రకృతి శక్తులను ఆరాధించుచు పరాశక్తిని చేరుట జరుగును. ఇట్లు నాలుగు వేదముల ద్వారా నాలుగు దిక్కుల నుండి శ్రీమాతను తెలియవచ్చునని తెలుపుటకే 'వేదవేద్యా' అని స్తుతింప బడినది.*

*They memorized these verses and imparted them to their disciples orally. If the sages had chosen to contrive the Vedas into manuscripts, they could have been destroyed or modified, unable to stand the vagaries of the Mother Nature. It is beyond the human power to decrypt the speech of God. To make it possible to some extent, the study of Vedas were divided into various categories and each category was analyzed by the experts in the respective fields. This study is known as vedāṅga (वेदाङ्ग) that integrates study of phonetics, ritual injunctions, linguistics, grammar, etymology, lexicography, prosody, astronomy and astrology.*
*The elaborate study of Veda-s would not have been initiated, had it been easier to understand them. Vedāṅga attempted to corroborate various expert interpretations, thereby making it possible to first understand the gross interpretation and later its subtle conveyance. It was concluded that Vedas discuss about every act of a human being, from birth to death. This conclusion was divided into three broad categories known as jñāna, karma and upāsana. Jñāna means wisdom. It is not the knowledge of literacy.*
*This knowledge is known as wisdom. Knowledge is of mundane type, the psychological result of perception of learning and reasoning. Wisdom has the ability to apply knowledge gained for the purpose of practical judgment, discrimination and insight. This is the reason why wisdom is considered superior to knowledge. The Veda-s both directly and indirectly advocate acquiring of wisdom. As wisdom can be acquired only through experience, they prescribe karma-s. Karma-s mean actions. By repeated actions, experience is gained and by such experience, one is able to discriminate between good and bad. Next is upāsana which means performance, performance of rituals.*
*Upāsana differs from karma. Karma means actions for sustenance. Upāsana means actions performed to realize God. The Veda-s give innumerable interpretations to the concept of God. The basic idea of the Veda-s is to make one realize God, which they call as the Brahman. To realize the Brahman, the Veda-s insist that one should be proficient in all the three categories. Therefore, it is made imperative to understand the Veda-s, in their archetypical form, as the verses of Veda-s have deeper implications.}*
